well to be honest I'm a year and a half into a 23 year tracker, so not going to be free in 3 years... which is why the overpayment targets in a year thread had appealed.

Never mind - will ditch it for this year and if it starts again next year I'll try again.

    shame though.....

    Hi Hurdler,
You don't have to clear your mortgage in the three years in order to join. Set you challenge accordingly and move forwards from there.

I know many people in the original MFiT challenge have exceeded their goals - you've nothing to loose by trying.

    Hello All,

Sorry not been on here for six weeks or so- been very busy at work and having major work done on our house. Had no kitchen or heating or hot water for the past six weeks while building work is going on. Its costing us lots so OPs are cut right down. Also will be borrowing back from our mortgage reserve for some of the work but trying not to borrow more than absloutely necessary. Why is it I always like the most expensive option?:o
Anyway OPs: (just the monthly direct debit OP of £160 will be going through between now and Christmas due to the work)
So September was £160, October is £160 and this brings the OP total so far to £10811.84.
We will make it to £11000 overpayment by the end of the year which I can't quite believe- especially considering we've done lots to the house and had a (cheap) holiday. As I've said some of this will be borrowed back to complete the house- but it means I'm very optimistic about 2010.:jbring it on!!!
2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.
    MFW OPd 2014 £2000 2013 £9700 2012 £2848.39 2011 £2509.58 2010 £11000 2009 £112002008 £4939 :D

    MFW no.212 checking in again.
Another £600 to report in my offset savings, so still just about on course to hit my yearly target. :o

[just to remind people, I rearranged my mortgage over the summer onto a much better interest rate, so rather than overpaying directly I'm now putting my overpayments into savings that beat the mortgage rate. This is with a view to paying off a lump sum at some point in the future]

Hi everyone,No 133 checking in. Will be paying our £500 OP tomorrow as per usual despite this having been a very expensive month with a DD getting married! Will up date totals as usual after the 1st of the month when the normal payment goes out.

I've made an overpayment of £1104.29 for October. This makes a cumulative total for the year of £3948.64.
  • Hello all, number 179 here. I have been rubbish at keeping up with the thread and with keeping my tally up to date, however today we hit the 23k point. Won't be reaching the 30k target I originally set for the year, but won't be far off.
