At the moment have one 5 year old boy.

    Football = £4 per week.

But also has expressed interest in doing, Karate and Gymnastics (wants to learn to do back flips??!), but i think swimming lessons are more important.

I work full time and and my partner uses the car to get to and from work, we walk. So its difficult to get anywhere or go anywhere, i finish work at 5pm. And most activities are 4 -5pm or 5-6pm. And impossible to get to in time.
Really need to look into any other weekend activities, other than football. But then that eats into our weekends together. But i suppose if my sons enjoys himself and is kept busy, thats the main thing. And the house can stay messy. lol

Tried to average it out as some are per term, some per week and some monthly. So here goes.
    D.S.
    GYM £15
    SWIM £7.50
    COOKING £2.50

He also has school holiday £180, basketball holiday camps £152 (monthly avg =£27.75
    So on him it's £52.75 p/m (+£10p/m mag subscription)
    D.D
    BROWNIES £10
    TRAMPOLINING £35
    GUITAR £44
    SWIM £7.50
    COOKING £2.50
She also has brownie camp £60 (£5p/m)
so total on her is £104!!

    Both together is £156.75p/m + £10p/m mag

At this point I'm off for a lay down in a dark room!!
Seriously though they love all of them the physical ones are mostly at the weekends and they don't get pocket money. As they get older they get more expensive, that's why we stopped at two. As for the are they worn out question, well no, they seem to be just fine, they sleep well but still get up nice and early, never needed to wake them up.

More than £20 - please state if it's not too rude of me to ask!
    DS1 9yrs
Karate - £79 a month (he can go 6 days a week if he wishes)
    Swimming - £6.5 a lesson
    Guitar - £4.50 a lesson through school
Running Club - Free after school
Brass (Trumpet) - Free due to LEA's free musical instrument lessons for all Y4 children

He did do Spanish which was about £35 a term, once a week during his lunch break at school. We stopped this when he started guitar lessons.

    DS2 5yrs
    Karate - £22 p/m - we get a reduced rate becasue of DS1
    Football - Free

DS1 did have swimming lessons but we stopped them after he was getting upset going. We will re-start these in the near future as I think its important that all kids learn to swim. When he goes into Y1 he will also have the choice of learning spanish.
  • We've spent quite a lot over the years, but have now whittled it down to 2 activities each for our 2 sons (our 15 year old daughter refuses to do anything!)

Both DS's, who are 11 and 14, do swimming lessons once a week, which is £32 a month (for both of them), and Taekwondo once a week, which is 2 x £3 per week or £30 per month (for both of them)

So a total of £62 per month for the two of them, which is quite expensive. It's just as well DD doesn't want to do anything!

DS2 would love to do tennis, cricket, basketball and loads of other things too, but we've said no as it would get too expensive. But he can take advantage of free sports clubs when he goes to secondary school in september, so I don't feel too guilty.
