    Morning all,

Not quite as cold this morning...Ulick was making the morning tea and I said 'don't use 2 tea bags'...I like very weak tea with no milk, next thing I heard was 'Oh God, so we are back to that again are we?'...just shows that I must have been falling off the wagon a bit, as we had quite a few 'discussions' in a similar vein earlier in the year...Ulick thinks that as long as you have money you can spend it willy nilly, I suppose that his attitude is unlikely to change at this stage of his life, so will have to be careful that he knows nothing about diluting milk, stretching chicken and mince mixture etc or we will not be talking to each other by Christmas!

Going to have a piece of Lidl ham to-day for dinner, should be some left for sandwiches over the weekend, to-morrow will be pancakes for breakfast and pasta for dinner...we rarely have 3 meals a day now, which doesn't help my weight loss efforts as I eat more than I should at each meal!

My father, no Scottish connections whatsoever, never had anything but salt on his porridge, I prefer honey or sugar

Hugs to all in need or want, welcome to any newbies, congratulations to all who are celebrating, thank you for being my friends

    Morning all

well I was merged into the daily yesterday and it was quite painless :D I think I might be visiting this thread a bit more often now, you have been warned! Sorry I don't have time to catch up on back posts but I hope all are well and that the weather is being kind. I'm off to check up on my sis' dog as they are out for the day, and then do a shopping trip with another sis. I shall be glad to get it all done and get home in the warm ;)

I was hoping my remoska would arrive last week, but no such luck. I shall content myself with meal planning and checking my stores.

PP I'm so sorry to hear about your chickens, hope you can track down the dog

Today I am going to make some more marrow chutney. The last lot was eaten very quickly! Going to buy a chicken today and will have roast today and pie and soup tomorrow.

MM any chance of the marrow chutney recipe please? I lost my recipe a few years ago and haven't been able to find one anything like it. Thanks :)

    Morning all,

    Hope everyone is well.

Not much to report apart from that it is cold here and my gas oven is on it's last legs

Was on for 20mins the other night on gas mark 9 roared all the time until it was turned down to gas mark3

So have to make a choice either a new thermostat which including fitting is around £100 mark or buy a new cooker. Shame it is not in the summer as I would no bother but with christmas coming up and all.

    Yours

    Calley

Well back from the best three days of my entire life(and no, that is not hyperbole I DO mean the best ever ever:j ) I met a wonderful OS'er and had the most wonderful meal really OS fantastic home cooked food(by someone else) I need to nominate Susey Sue as a WONDERFUL hostess, speaking as a soup aficionado(my very fave food ever) her soup is:A :T add to that the bread(why does my bread never taste even half as good:confused: ?)totally fabulous, then the chocolate cake:A yum. Am only sorry that I didn't have longer with her(anyone with two hours to kill Don't spend them on Peterborough station) Added to that Susey Sue's son is a total delight. If I could guarantee even one child like him in a class I would go back to teaching like a shot(might never have left in the first place) A real credit to her.
The rest of my fantastic adventure was well........FANTASTIC. Won't boreyou all with the details but  :j :A :T :j  .
For the last month I have had a wonderful time-how to explain-bright vibrant colours lighting up the gloom. The brightest most vibrant fireworks on the darkest sky. The last three days have been like that with bells on. Now its back to shades of grey. Yippie.
Yesterday I gave a lot of you a "wave" had a very very cirquitous journey that took in Brighton(we seemed to do a long tour of Brighton:eek: ) Hove, right down the coast including Porsmouth, Southampton most of Berkshire, Oxford, and on and on.(this is the very edited version)
Breakfast today was a very strong cup of coffee then when I finally climbed out of the pit a packet of Walkers finest(cheese and onion) am still in travel mode. Will make some bread later(wont be half as good as Susey Sues I now lust for a Panny) and need to use up some stock I made earlier in the week. I assume it will be ok its all veg and has been in the fridge? Will be 100% OS this week as have loads of stuff that has to be used.
Anyway, I will close. Sorry it so long. I am delighted Dylan is showing signs of improvement. I had DH check whilst i was away. Take care and hugs as needed.
Hope everyone is well, warm and happy.
Have a good day, Ann xx

we were thinking of getting a few chooks, for the eggs ,,our garden is fenced all the way round but we have a lot of cats come round are they as bad as dogs or not ?? I dont know

Just asked OH as he used to keep chickens, he says if the chickens are big enough to lay eggs then they are too big for cats to chase

    Afternoon everybody :hello:

PenPen - awful about your chooks - I hope the dog gets caught soon.
rchddap1 - you have my sympathies - I've had a cold for weeks which I can't shake off (fortunately I'm not actually "ill" any more, though).

Heating is now well and truly on, though I haven't had to put it on as high today as for the last couple of days (I have individual panel heaters in each room, which in theory are all hooked up to a thermostat system, but I've never been able to work out how the flippin' thing works, so I just put them on individually when I need them.

I had a humungous wine delivery from Tesco this morning - I had £110 in double-up vouchers and seeing as Tesco Wine never bring everything I order, I actually ordered over £200 of stuff (including some spirits from the Christmas budget) so as to be sure I'd at least exceed the value of the vouchers rather than having to faff about for voucher refunds etc. As it happens they had all but one of the cases I ordered, so I now have more wine than I have storage space for :rotfl: and NO I'm not just going to drink it more quickly, nor am I going to share it all by beaming it down my broadband connection to you... it'll just be ages before I have to order any more, that's all :D

Tonight I am going to a concert in which my friend is playing the clarinet, it's only a fiver - bargain! - and tomorrow I am singing in a choir concert in West London, which means I get to divert myself via Hammersmith en route, ,have some Wetherspoons fish and chips for lunch, and rifle through TK Maxx in search of possible Christmas presents. The BM is currently on, making a spicy fruit loaf to take to tomorrow's shared tea between our rehearsal and concert.

Still have some reviews to finish off, and am hoping to get that done this afternoon - I seem to be in the right frame of mind to get them done today. I wanted to finish them yesterday evening but made the mistake of taking my laptop and tucking myself up in bed - next thing I knew, of course, it was morning :o

Must have lunch and then nip out to supermarket for a couple of odds and ends.

    Love Rzl

    afternoon :hello:

just sitting down with a HM burger :D
DD has 2 friends helping her paint her bedroom, the paint was a good price in Tesco, 5litres Dulux white for £6.22 on offer, they have taken everything off walls, taken down curtain pole, filled all the holes and sanded down :) there does seem to be a lot of paint going on the floor but it's laminate and wipes off so that's ok

I've got a new bed to put together from Ikea, it's my second bed from there, bought the first 8 yrs ago with mattress and mattress pad, have had a 2nd pad 2 yrs ago, but I'll be able to use mattress, pad and slatted bed base from the old bed so I'm really pleased :) only had to buy the bed frame

Tree is still resting on the house  to be removed tomorrow!!! they called it a Poplar in the letter they sent but I'm sure it's an Alder!
I'm hoping they leave the tree for us to use the wood for the firepit next year

not sure what to cook for dinner, something to have while watching X Factor :j
afters will be Brownies which DD made last night

have a good day all x

    Heating on here...........bbrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Just had HM soup - minestrone but I always saute onions in some chilli powder first to give it a kick. Also add potatoes as well as a couple of types of pasta. Left out beans this time just because I forgot but had planned adding pinto beans. The tin was sitting out as well! Ah well. A memory lapse . Enough soup to last 3 days so that will be handy.
We're having braised chicken tonight so I'll add some celery (got it marked down yesterday and it looks great) as well as onions and carrots. I love braised veg and it saves cooking in a pan. We'll have cabbage as well, and mash.
Planning on soaking the fruit for Christmas cake this afternoon but will have to get some more sherry. At least I could meausre it out and make a start with the sherry I have though.
Going into town this afternoon to buy wool to knit some hats for Christmas presents. Need to get going with those.
If the Boots points special is on this weekend I'll pop in and get my stepdaughter's perfume for Christmas.
Dogs to be walked later but that's a lovely 'job'.
Ok, need to get off here then!
    Take care all

ps another Scot here and salt is just the thing with porridge :D
