    Afternoon all

Well after a lot of dithering I have at last succumbed..........................I've just been on Amazon and ordered myself a Panny :j :j :j

Am like a big kid and can't wait for it to arrive and to start playing with it. £79.99, not a bad price eh?

Just felt I had to let you all know ;):D
  • Afternoon all
Very wet & miserable here today, but at least we are cosy & warm under our blankets.
The new lodger has phoned & said she wants to arrive Sunday instead of Monday, I'm not bothered either way.
I did give my downstairs a thorough bottoming yesterday, so feel quite virtuous, all I need to do today is sort out 3 or 4 carrierbags of books to freecycle & re-arrange my kitchen cupboards to make room for the lodgers stuff. I
'm hoping to get another cooker tomorrow, my SIL is going to try to fit in a visit to us to drop off a spare one they have in their garage. I had to drop GDS off at a halloween party yesterday as DD had started work @ 3 instead of 5.
Pen-Pen, so sorry about your chooks, Pen Pin hope you feel better soon.
Hugs to Smokey, jay, mrs Mix & anyone else in need
    Have a good day everyone
    Hugs Hester

Ok ok a little late but with good reason..........I went into work and caught up on all the important outstanding work and binned the rest :D :j that tidied my desk :j

I religiously made good veg soup last night to dip into all weekend only to find my boys dipping in too and the pan is now empty so I'm looking for a parsnip and carrot variety next.

Been a busy busy panda today and 2 loads of washing done and hung to dry and a 3rd wash swishing as I type. Selected a few bits to iron and left the rest for my
    [STRIKE]slave[/STRIKE] wonderful elder son......:j

I've walked the pooch too before the Blackpool Spectacular Fireworks at The Pleasure Beach <<<< no ad plug intended but he will be the quaking fur ball later when it all goes off!

Its been a busy week here at Chez Panda, or rather the week has flown by but 1 bit of good news is I ordered 1 sons Chrimbo pressie this morning and collect it Monday so I'm pleased I've now started !

Hope all is well in others worlds, the sun is out today and it feels good:j:D

Sorry, not keeping up with things as so busy with covering two jobs at the moment.

Off to see my brother on Monday in Florida. DD brought DGSs down today for a bit of Granny time before I go. I can't wait to get some sun!

Speak to you all soon I hope.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry here today. DD2 who was 18 last Monday, went out for her first grown up "I can buy at the bar" drink with her older brother and some friends last night. Didn't listen to the advice about not mixing drinks and had to be fetched home in the car and sat up with all night. Am hopping mad at stupidity and wasted money. She has been unable to go to work today and was supposed to work 6 hours instead of her normal 3 so has lost out on a lot of cash that is sorely needed. BUT - for most of her life she has had a deep seated phobia about vomiting - but has been sick so much in past 12 hours the phobia appears to have been beaten into submission :T so....... do I laugh or cry?
When I was 18 (loooong ago) I got involved in a lunch-time 'session' - had to be taken home and spent rest of day/night alternating between flat on back and hanging on to the porcelain. Swore I never wanted to feel like that again. So could be a lesson learned the hard way.

redruby and tired mum - welcome home! We missed you! Glad you both enjoyed your hols.

Penelope penguin - so sorry to hear about your hens, what a horrible thing to happen! I hope the dog can be traced.

SnowyOwl - so glad to hear that Dylan has been "performing" :D

anniestar - lovely to hear what a good time you've been having these past three days! I hope the vibrant colours come back for you asap.

Penny_Pincher - I hope you have a better night tonight. How sweet of your DD to come down and make you a cup of tea! I expect you are worrying about your op, which means it's even harder to get restful sleep. (((HUGS)))

Mrs mix, Bargain Rzl, Shez, VickyA, Stefejb, Churchmouse, Catowen :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello:

Welcome to rosieben and Victoriajj, and any other new posters I may have missed.
Jayward - sorry to hear your back is playing up - there are few things as guaranteed to make a person feel low. have a (gentle) (((HUG))) from me as well.

Hester - good luck with the new lodger.

You all seem quite busy atm! I seem to be having a bit of a lazy time, though I have at least got a lot of washing done the past few days. I think we are having HM curry from the freezer tonight - 2 portions of chicken curry and an odd one of turkey curry, mixed together, as DS will be eating here. Then my stock of HM "ready meals" will be finished and I'll have to start the bulk cooking again (not very "bulk", as our freezer's not that big - I usually make a recipe for 4, use half and freeze half.) I do have a bag of mince (12 ounces, to be made up to 1lb with lentils, and will probably put carrots in as well to save cooking them separately), but apart from that the freezer contains some fish fingers, some battered haddock from Lidl, some burgers _pale_ (which we bought in case DS needed a quick meal while we were away the other week), some oven chips and some frozen veg.

We took DGS14yo to Bluewater yesterday to get him some new clothes. He got 2 t-shirts, a hoodie with Led Zeppelin on the front (he insisted it was "really, really warm, Grandad, honestly!" although it isn't made of sweatshirt material :D ) and a new pair of Converse baseball boots which are an early birthday present.

We only had 10 trick-or-treaters come round last night so now have 10 lollies left over which will probably be out of date by next Hallowe'en:rolleyes:

hope everyone has a nice evening.

    Best wishes

    Morning all

well I was merged into the daily yesterday and it was quite painless :D I think I might be visiting this thread a bit more often now, you have been warned! Sorry I don't have time to catch up on back posts but I hope all are well and that the weather is being kind. I'm off to check up on my sis' dog as they are out for the day, and then do a shopping trip with another sis. I shall be glad to get it all done and get home in the warm ;)

I was hoping my remoska would arrive last week, but no such luck. I shall content myself with meal planning and checking my stores.

PP I'm so sorry to hear about your chickens, hope you can track down the dog

MM any chance of the marrow chutney recipe please? I lost my recipe a few years ago and haven't been able to find one anything like it. Thanks :)

I don't stick exactly to the quantities, but use the weight of the main ingrediants as a guide. I usually make half the weight.

3 lbs marrow peeled and seeded
    salt
half a pound of chopped onions
half a pound of apples peeled and sliced
    half a pound of sultanas
8 oz of chopped dates - I used one of those blocks
    8 oz of demerara sugar
1 1/2 pints of malt vinegar

put the cut up marrow in a bowl, sprinkle liberally with salt, cover and leave for 12 hours
Rinse and drain and put in a pan with onions and apples
add the sugar and vinegar and bring to the boil

I put it in the slow cooker for several hours as it cooks the ingredients down

I then put it in a pan and simmer until thick with no excess liquid.

    Pot and cover

    Makes about 4 lbs.
