OS Daily Thread Saturday 1st November

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for Saturday 1st November, 2008. It is an 'over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.

Morning all!hi.gif

OH got home about half an hour ago so I am up doing my 'thang'!!

Sorry N9eav, I started the thread really early yesterday - it wasn't even 4 am, as I got up to chat to a friend in America, I guess you were right, by the time you logged on it must have slipped down a bit with the other early morning posters... lol
Squiggly - lol - I wondered if anyone would ask... They are pork burgers from Lidls. Really big fat chunky things and you get 5 of them for £1.79 and they are both filling and tasty. And mmmmm brown sugar on porridge is delicious. As is evaporated milk or golden syrup...lol I LOVE porridge.
PenPen - How horrible for you and your poor chickens, I hope you find the owner of the dog soon
Blair - Yes I have noticed that the thread is much quieter now. It rarely passes 3 pages now - not since the 'discussions'. I think some people are still scared to post which is sad 'cos we are all still chatting, it is just that we are remembering to talk a little bit more about OS - either achieving it or aspiring to be it!

Ok, I am still finding it really painful to walk and the swelling isn't going down. I did sit and carve out two pumpkins for the doorstep this afternoon though and we lit them about 4pm as it started to get dark here then. Thought you might like to see my first carving attempts.

Hi everyone, I had a bad dream which made me wake up ANGRY so I got up for a while.

Boy, will I be glad when the US election is over. You would think it was ours with all the coverage - but in a way it is because we have seen in the last few months only too clearly how what they do affects the world!

Today I am going to make some more marrow chutney. The last lot was eaten very quickly! Going to buy a chicken today and will have roast today and pie and soup tomorrow.
  • Morning Guys!

Another rough night here:rolleyes:...DD must have heard me and came down to make me a cup of tea...bless her. Staying in today. Was supposed to be going round friends but will see if they want to come here instead as I know I wont make it later.

No washing today but DW needs emptying. Toilet has been cleaned:p

We had no trick or treaters, so it was a peaceful evening last night.

Started getting my hospital bag together as I only have a few more days:eek:

PP-Sorry to hear about the chooks.

    Hugs to all.

No trick or treaters this year. We didn't get in until 6.30pm by which time they had all passed us by. So lots of sweeties for us.

After I had managed to collect all the Lego from the mirror....they go and do books as well. So from now on whats become my daily jaunt will take me up to somerfield and back (not a short trip!). But for some books I think it will be worth it. I'll give some to Lily for Xmas and the rest will go to my nephew.

Late yesterday I started to develop a cold. And unfortunately it comes complete with sore throat, funny head and red nose. I feel awful. But I shall plough on. Can't do anything else with a nearly 2 year old. We'll still go for our walk (as long as the weather is good).
Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.

    Morning peeps

My post this morning has vanished into thin air so i shall post this and then add the rest to it by editing.

It`s not as cold this morning but there is still a nip in the air so i am well wrapped up.

Diva - MMM golden syrup on porridge sounds delicious so i shall have to try that soon.

Squiddly - I tried demerara sugar this morning after reading your post about it yesterday and it was gorgeous, thankyou!

PenPin - Hope that you`re feeling better later and can enjoy seeing your friends.

rchddap - I can sympathise with you regarding the nasty cold, i`ve had it for the last few days and it really is horrible, it`s almost as bad as flu but not quite IFYKWIM, i can recommed copious amounts of brandy to help deal with it :D

When i woke up this morning i discovered that i have a completely blocked ear  i`ve put some earex drops in it and put some cotton wool inside to help to keep it warm, i can`t wait for hometime!

Tea tonight will be something with gammon - probably something nice and easy like an omelette unless i find a quick recipe for something else in the meantime.

I shall go and do some w*rk now and pop back later.

    Have a good day peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • Morning all,

Diva, ooh they sound scrummy, I must visit our local Lidl's for a change. Are they in the chilled cabinets or freezers? And I was going to say to Blairweech no it was't her imagination (and why), so thank you :) Really impressed with your pumpkins too!! Well done.
PenPen, what awful news about your chickens - hope the rest are alright. I too would ring the police & see what they say.
Moanymoany, I know exactly what you mean about the US election. I know it will affect us, but ENOUGH!!!!!!! I'm fairly sure the US doesn't cover our election in as much detail.
Sunnyday, glad you enjoyed. I remember when I was little going to my nan's and she would always do porridge with brown sugar, it is indeed gorgeous :) (Diva, not sure about evap, but syrup sounds lovely too. Ooh, or maple syrup!!)

Hope those poorlies feel better soon too.

Kids all had fun trick or treating last night & I lost count of how many we had. One littlie sang "baa baa black sheep" to me as his "trick", it was soooooo sweet :) Then thought I would go to Mr T while it was quiet to get some fireworks (we are doing Monday eve) when dropping youngest DD's friend home around 8.30 - and they're only on sale between 10am & 8pm. Means having to got this morning when it will be manic

Hopefully if it stays dry I can get some washing out on the line. Might bung some casserole beef I have into the SC for supper later with dumplings.
Other than that will see what else needs (or I feel like) doing as still trying to find time to finish research proposal. Glad, hope your one is going well.

Anyhow, time for more tea. Have a good day all.

    Good Morning All

Had a good Halloween, we didnt get as many trick or treaters as normal so we have a lot of chocolate left over. I went out with DS for a bit and some people had gone to so much effort.

Have a good and bad day today, bad in that I need to keep going around sisters to get my washing done, good that we are seeing James Bond later and having a cheap buffet indian.

Earliest the man can fix the washing machine is Tues morning! So that is very stressful but we will get though it.

Off out this morning to the butchers to get the meat for tomorrow.

Have a great Saturday all, hope everyone under the weather feels better asap.

Good Morning All - long time no post!
Having been away for half-term I spent yesterday doing loads of washing, some of which dried outside but the rest went into the drier I'm afraid. Ironing is nearly caught up so I'm feeling quite virtuous.
Spent ages in B&Q deciding on new flooring - have finally decided on real wood as it looked and felt so much better. Ironic really, as when we remove our carpets I guess we'll find some real wood beneath anyway!
Busy day today - DGD has her second birthday so off to London for her party later, but shopping first. Need to sort out the food plan for the week - difficult as I'm feeling really NOT hungry just now!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
