Morning all
Been up a while with baby, only just got a break to say hello. We did loads more dejunking last night, so will be able to go to Ikea tomorrow for sofas! :j Small pleasure, I know, but we've been sofa-less since April - little things please little minds!
Made Christmas cake yesterday, WM on & will peg out for a bit, off to town for £ & a few bits. Not many trick or treaters last night & first lot scared baby witless, so every time after that, when they knowcked on the door, he was terrified!
Got to work today, so all afternoon gone, but will clean front room before I go, then I can just iron & make Christmas cards when little bean's in bed tonight.
Hugs n kisses to all in need - so sorry about the chooks as well - take an extra hug, sounds like you need it!:grouphug: :kisses3:
See you all later.

Good morning everyone  Feeling a bit better this morning. Yes, it definitely was a dog that attacked the chooks; DH saw it circling the pen (from an inside window) and by the time he got outside, the dog (a bull terrier type thing - not too good with dog breeds
) was in the pen and had its jaw around the back of one of them    DH saw to the hen first, which allowed the dog to escape. DH's face was murderous, so it's probably good for the dog that it got away , but it did have a collar and a tag, so if we see it again, we should be able to get details. I'll take your advice to ring the police; I keep thinking that it could have been a child  The hens are fine this morning, but may be off the lay for a few days.
We did have a good time last night (went out for a pub meal). Had some really interesting discussions with the children :T
DH has taken the children to swim club, then DS has football. I cleared out the camping kit boxes yesterday. I've washed the boxes out, so need to repack the kit to store ion the loft over the weekend. We're planning to go to the cinema this afternoon, then back for HM pasta and pesto with Strictly:j
Snowy - hurrah for Dylan's gifts for you :T :rotfl:
Off to finish the ironing  Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
MSD – Your pumpkins look great J
Rchddap1 – Hope the cold goes away soon
PenPen - How dreadful about your chooks. Where I used to live, people would often let their dogs off the leads despite the fields being full of lambing ewes  Then they wondered why the farmers got angry with them!
Squggly – I’m pretty sure the US don’t cover our election AT ALL because then they would have to acknowledge that other countries that aren’t the US actually exist.
I did get 3 trick or treaters last night  Of course I didn't have any sweets, so I gave them a shiney red apple each and told them it was poisoned. I was in bed by 9.30 with a bad headache anyway.
Plans for today: Couple of loads of washing, freezer/cupboard inventory.I want to get some window cling, and some of that non slip matting for inside my new cupboard...but that would mean going to Plymouth which I hate. Although...TK Maxx has just re-opened...Anyway, apart that that I am 'winterising' - changing my curtains over, sewing a door curtain
Breakfast: Poached egg on toast
Lunch: Sandwich
Dinner: Cottage Pie (meant to have it last night but didn't)
Hope you all have a great Saturday! We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Morning Chums,
was up early this morning and got to Mr T's first thing to buy some red lentils and some grated cheese.I also had to get some petrol as my car was running on fresh air and hope !!
I had a 5p off a litre voucher, so I saved £2.44 on my tankful, but that will last me for a month as I only top up on the first of the month and I haven't anywhere far to go this month. No more hospital appointments Yippee.:j
re the porridge, I only like a sprinkle of salt on mine ,a throw back from when I was little, and sugar was like gold dust during the war.Plus of course my parents were Scots, and it seems to be a Scots habit.;) I also only eat marmalade on toast not jam .Jam goes on bread and butter or scones .Funny thing different things you are used to.
Well I love my porridge oats in the morning, as they warm you up a treat I buy the Tesco value oats, and half a cup of them and a cup and a half of water brought to the boil slowly whilst being stirred fills me up till lunchtime .I have sometimes even had some at supper time if I come in from college feeling a bit chilly.I always try go to be warm it helps me sleep a little better
Today I have my sis-in-law from Faversham coming for the week-end.She was going to cut my lawn for me, but I think that will be shelved as the weather looks very dark, and I think there will be some heavy rain on the way.
Lunch will be some of my nice half price salmon that I bought last week and some baby salad spuds and maybe some broccoli.
Tonight I think we are going out for a meal at our local hostelry to celebrate my discharge from the hospital.
Tomorrow I have a nice bit of organic beef from my freezer and parsnips, cabbage and carrots, with apple crumble and custard to follow .
Only 53 days till Christmas I must get a wriggle on with my baskets and cards.<<hugs to those who need them>> and a big smiley face:D to the rest of you Have a good week-end everyone what ever you get up to.
JackieO xx
P.S. no trick or treaters here either, but quite a few parties I could here in the distance0 -

Morning
mmm bit on the parky side today - made a pint of tea and back in bed for breakfast tv till the heating kicks in.
MSD - those pumpkins look great - I missed out getting one so it was an orange candle instead for me
Jackie - enjoy your celebratory meal:j
Pen Peng - Hope the "girls" are feeling a bit better this morning
I think it is quieter on here but my theory is that is because we are all mostly sticking to one post - makes it so much easier to catch up:T
Once the house defrosts then I need to do some serious tidying up in my bedroom - it looks like the average teenagers room atm:eek: bit of ironing on the books too but that may wait until tomorrow. Need to go to JTF today they have some of those spinning halogen heaters for 8.95 which will be great to just warm up my office instead of putting the whole heating on all day.
I will eat today im sure but I have no idea what yet:o
Have a great weekend all x0 -

Good Morning everyone:hello:
Pen Pen sorry to hear about your poor chickens.
We had quite a few trick or teaters last night. Usually I put a sign on the door saying [strike]'b****r off [/strike] no thankyou' but I've mellowed;) I had a big tub of jelly beans which I'd bought for cake decorating purposes but kept dipping into -and I don't really like them:rolleyes: so it was a good opportunity to get rid of them.
The first 2 callers were so polite when I offered them this huge tub of beans picking out one each -'no no have a handful' I said. All our callers were very polite and pleasant and my kids enjoyed handing out the beans although ds2 snuck out the back door and knocked on the front door pretending to be a trick or treater. I could hear him whispering to dd 'Sshh don't say anything to mum' and dd saying 'Oh, I'll just get the jellybeans then' in a loud voice:rotfl:
I have leftover Halloween Soup for lunch (passata, stock, pumpkin, red pepper, carrot and onions blended together with sweetcorn and chickpeas added later).
Supper will be either cottage pie or shepherd's pie depending whether the mince I've pulled out of the freezer is beef or lamb. I've some leftover root mash (potato, carrot and swede) and gravy which I can incorporate into the pie;)
I'm going to cook and puree the pumpkin head and freeze for use in muffins and soups.
For pudding I'm making the cheesecake from Jamie Oliver's new book and serving it with blackcurrant puree from the freezer.
Have a nice Saturday all;)0 -
Morning all
Don't know whether to laugh or cry here today. DD2 who was 18 last Monday, went out for her first grown up "I can buy at the bar" drink with her older brother and some friends last night. Didn't listen to the advice about not mixing drinks and had to be fetched home in the car and sat up with all night. Am hopping mad at stupidity and wasted money. She has been unable to go to work today and was supposed to work 6 hours instead of her normal 3 so has lost out on a lot of cash that is sorely needed. BUT - for most of her life she has had a deep seated phobia about vomiting - but has been sick so much in past 12 hours the phobia appears to have been beaten into submission :T so....... do I laugh or cry?
Very cold here today. Thought I'd got all the washing up to date yesterday but due to overnight antics have 3 more loads to do- and it's just started to rain too so am faced with draping it all over the bathroom again. b****y kids !!!!!!
For those of us without a hangover food today will be:-- Breakfast was porridge
- Lunch will be HM hummus and pitta bread for everyone except me (yuk - nasty - hate it) and I will have cheese and crackers. We will all have fruit and cake.
- Dinner will be cheese and potato pie in pastry ( to make it go further) baked beans and sausages - all done in the Remoska. This will use up the mash from last night and some pastry I made the other day that needs either using or freezing but freezer is full. Pudding will be fruit crumble and HM yogurt
Right - off to get the washing sorted then intend to spend the afternoon in front of the fire with an old film and some cross stitching.
Have a good day everyone.People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading
The difference between a misfortune and a calamity is this: If Gladstone fell jnto the Thames it would be a misfortune. But if someone dragged him out again, that would be a calamity - Benjamin Disreali0
