Just sold a book on urine therapy for 10.99 that I bought for 79p about two weeks ago.

Not much amazes me Angela ....

    .... but that did! ;)

Well done. It's supply and demand at work :)

Just sold another book for £9.50, I purchased it for £1 at a charity shop.

So that's 3 in a week sold, not bad going.

How do you get the buyer to leave feedback on Amazon.

Well done .... but I think I'm in the minority when I say I don't ask for feedback ;)

To my way of thinking kabman, it invites people that have had time to read the book, look at it again, and think "was that worth it"?

Well it was before they bought it ;), and if all the descriptions are correct, they should leave feedback voluntarily and without prompting (but I know I'm in a minority on that)

Personally, I wouldn't force the issue, but if you need it for future sales, I'd remind them of it in a follow-up e-mail ... like when you thank them for buying the book and hope they're happy with it?

That didn't help really did it? ;) But I'd rather have a feedback that wasn't prompted in any way.

Becky - speedy recovery! Also, good luck with essay!! I don't know how you manage to do all your book selling/swapping what with your course, work, children, house move etc - where on earth do you find the time? Do you actually sleep??!!

Will let you in on my time management secrets. Up at 6am computer on make coffee, check all sales swaps, 7am get ready for work kids up and dress baby at 7.30 kids in car and off to childminder at 8.
Go to work, if I don't have many calls pop home at lunchtime spend 20 mins getting in house due to all swaps posted through letterbox blocking the entrance, check computer again. Back to work home at 5 check computer and spend hours searching for more books while OH collects angel daughter and satanic son.
Day off pack a few boxes and do some washing with one eye on the computer screen. Day before essay submission start writing it with broken finger (I love the adrenaline rush of deadlines!).
Most important tip haven't cleaned for 3 weeks (what's the point if I'm moving) will do it when I leave and it won't get messed up again! :rotfl:
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

On the downside, I had a pending email this weekend too, for a £18 book as well. Typical! Still, hopefully things are picking up for me. You never know I may rival Becky soon, although probably not! In fact, I think I have swapped with Becky at some point.

Lets hope you don't get broken bones from being over-excited about books!
OH moaned last night because he had to pack 3 books, lucky it wasn't last Wednesday night when I had to pack 27!
Am keeping my broken fingers crossed that I sell a few more books this week as I'm now only about £40 shy of the Thomas the Tank bed for baby satan!

I'm a lot the same as I don't invite feedback at any point during the transaction. I email them after I've posted to say it's on it's way and I ask them to reply to my email to confirm receipt. I'd say about 60% of people do this.

At this point I occasionally find that you often get gushing replies about the wonderful condition, speedy delivery type thing. These people I do target as I figure it's a shame to waste the opportunity! I reply to them and say thanks for letting me know and that I'd be very grateful if they could leave me positive feedback as I'm still quite new to amazon and still establishing myself as a seller. I then copy and paste amazon's instructions for leaving feedback (can be found on the seller's help pages). This always seems to work.

The others I leave to do it in their own time (usually when Amazon remind them which can be ages after the transaction actually happened and they've probably forgotten the finer details!)

Thanks for your replies to my question on feedback. I will try Purplepatch approach and email them when I dispatch the book and ask them to tell me when it is received, and then go from there.

    Thanks

I've just sold my second book, but why is it that they seem to develop marks or dents that you could swear were not there before you sold them!!!!

Well done. You've hit on something about which I am unhealthily paranoid. I am elated when I see I have sold a book but that feeling is immediately followed by worry that the condition of the book isn't as good as I stated!
I'm sorry but I'm not Mike!

Exactly!! I did say it was used and not priced too highly too. Just went over it with a wipe but I'm sure it wasn't like that before!!

  • Rubytuesday and Mr Clingford, i have that worry too!

Regarding feeback, i put a slip of paper in with the book saying:

Thank you for your purchase from amazon.co.uk marketplace. I hope it meets your expectations. Feeback is much appreciated. Regards Kaminari.

I also email soon after i get notification email of book sold with:

Thank you for your purchase of TITLE OF BOOK. It will be sent first class tomorrow morning.

I find i get a good amount of feedback and it makes it a little more personal. I also find that people appreciate getting there book asap and i always send the books out first class within 24 hours of the dispatch now email.

Another little think i do is use facial wipes if there is coffee ring or marks on the cover and they usually come up very clean. (i got most of the facial wipes for free following the boots thread on the Grabbit board).

A good eraser will remove a lot of marks too as well as the pencil marks on the first page by charity shops.

    I hope this helps!
