Bloody hell, some gentleman has just purchased my raised embroidery book for £26.00, maybe the sales will continue!

Just done me wrist in packing it with my broken finger!

Just sold a book on urine therapy for 10.99 that I bought for 79p about two weeks ago.

Still selling about 2 or 3 items a day,so still going well,my 3 months for the pro merchant are up on the 17th think I will still stay with it as the sales seem good and I have a couple of good 2nd hand shops that have a good selection of weird and wacky books to keep me going.

    Hope your better soon Becky.

    Hi everyone!

I haven't posted on here for ages so I thought I'd just update you all on my sales and swaps activity.

After a very quiet Amazon period I have today sold two books that I got from RISI. Yay! result. One was a book about social history. I was a bit miffed when it arrived as a swap as it was an ex-library book with dates stamps, etc and it had a few pencil notes in it. The swapper hadn't said anything about this. Anyway, I listed it on Amazon on Thursday and said it was in acceptable condition, with a note about it being ex-library, etc. Sold it on Saturday at £9.99. Another swap was for Pay off your mortgage in 2 years, from the TV series. It was brand new! Couldn't believe it when it arrived. I listed it this afternoon at £7.99 (Amazon price is about £8.23) and sold it in 2 hours. Amazing. I bought a huge box of about 50 books from my local paper for £15 and another for £4. The cheaper box had a lot of old musty books that were really smelly and some ex-library books, but it had about a dozen worth swapping. The big box has lots of 1p novels but quite recent so they will swap.

On the downside, I had a pending email this weekend too, for a £18 book as well. Typical! Still, hopefully things are picking up for me. You never know I may rival Becky soon, although probably not! In fact, I think I have swapped with Becky at some point.

Does anyone know if old books sell anywhere? I have a couple of 1940's books and am reluctant to throw them away because I don't know if they are junk or not! How can I find out?

  • Hi chickadee - nice to see you back, you've had a good time too! I'd try your old books on ebay on a cheap listing day just to test the water, you might be surprised.

Thanks AT. I'll give them a try. I may just come across someone with a penchant for antique Man in the Iron Mask books! There are all sorts out there after all. I mean, Urine therapy?????

Just sold another book for £9.50, I purchased it for £1 at a charity shop.

So that's 3 in a week sold, not bad going.

How do you get the buyer to leave feedback on Amazon.
  • chickadee's post reminded me of a diary entry :D I suppose it is in a way (for us booknutters, so thanks ;)

So I'll update my diary .... (and hope that you've all been well and selling :)

I was selling loads - at least 2 a day, the most was 9 in a day I think

    It was scary ....:rotfl:

My meticulous labelling and filing fell down when I "lost" a book or two - and panic set in! I couldn't find a book that someone had bought, then it got worse .... the book was found but it wasn't the same book, although it was the same ISBN

I mailed the buyer straight away, but gave up after 24 hours and sent it. That might be the end of my 100% *groan* .... but I'll let you all know.

After trying RISI, I gave up. I lost track of the books I had, so after reading this and the differences they've made since ... I'll give that a miss. (Although the book I listed worth about £8 only offered 3 sellers that were selling 25p books and under. (I bet one of them's read. or reading, this topic :D)

But does anyone feel like I do at the moment? Overwhelmed by books? And I only use the two ... Amazon and greenmetropolis. I still like the ease of GM (and Amazon!)

But at least I've had time to read the books I've bought :D

I also sold a book for £30+ that was part of a lot that I bought .... yay! The lot cost me about £10, so not bad eh? ;)
