I've requested a few swaps over the past couple of days, all quite decent, but nobody wants to swap with me for some reason
Similar to what Zoe said the other day, I've got about 100 books, mixture of male/female fiction and some non fiction - interesting subject matter etc. Getting a bit frustrated!0 -

Yes he has lots of books listed, but maybe his only 'crime' is quoting his website! Aside from maybe not packaging his books very well.
I must admit that I have refrained from quoting mine on my compliments slips that I include with my swaps - but that was my decision in order not to upset any swapper who may feel agrieved that I was reselling - at least he is being upfront.
If we had a massive stock of books 400+ of which were 1p books wouldn't we put them on RISI to try and upgrade them? I think so!
I don't think we should get worried by a little competition - after all that is what makes the world go around. There is plenty of business out there for everyone.
I think the fact that he actually has his own bookselling website sets him apart from most of us on here. He obviously runs a fairly major operation. Plus he is new and these 400 odd books have gone on in a matter of a few days. I suspect there may be a lot more to come!
In my original post, I did mention that perhaps it was a bit 2 faced of me to moan about him, but it is a bit frustrating trying to find books to swap when the same name keeps coming up. Shame the website doesn't show the swappers name on the library page really to save you keep clicking on the link.0 -

Maybe i'm cynical but I think he is refusing most swaps hoping we follow the link and buy them!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I have had a payment pending email this week, and not got round to trying to work out where to get buyers email address from... checked my emails tonight, and have received an email from buyer - via Amazon - saying she has tried putting in two different card details and the purchase just will not process.
What amazes me is she says she has spoken to Amazon - I don't think I have ever managed to find a phone number on their site to contact them!! It's certainly very well hidden (or was when I was looking for it many moons ago). Now don't all inundate me with it, please, just to show how bad I am at looking!
Anyway, after finding out from the transaction page that this is the same lady, I have emailed her to say I will relist (well, the 3 days is up so I can anyway! But now I am doing it especially for her!!!)

There is a number somewhere - I've seen it posted elsewhere on MSE before. The other day when I had a pending, and my buyer was having a similar problem to yours, I tried to find it on Amazon - needless to say he got his transaction to go through before I found the number!
Maybe someone who knows how to work the advanced search facility on here will enlighten us!!0 -
i don't suppose anyone has any quick tips for parceling up stuff for ebay and amazon?
i suppose if i didn't use recycled packaging it would be quicker
i'm seriously considering getting royal mails smart stamp thing, it would save sooo much time
does anyone here use it? does it print address labels too or just the postage... also, a few years ago you could have an affiliate link for a trial for this
i have looked on quidco but couldn't find anything under royal mail... i was hoping to get some cashback from signing up for the offer (i intend to keep it if i get it!) however if that's not still running are they still doing the free trial period with free postage? if so, do you have a link?
i'm still knackered and feeling horrible with this cold... even meds aren't helping... i think this is the worst i've had in about 10 years :-(founder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -
Checking through my lovely book parcels tonight I realised I have actually swapped with "he who must not be mentioned" (bit like lord voldemort!). The book of mine he got was one I got in a swap which linked to amazon at £40 but which turned out to be a 1p book on arrival. The one I got back I actually wanted for me. In all fairness it was packed ok too.I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Morning all, I've been a bit busy of late so not really had chance to catch up with stuff here,
Purplepatch - here is a phone number I picked up on the seller connections board 0800 279 6620 so I expect that it's a general customer services one.
Hol - sorry you're still feeling rough, I re-cycle the packaging where possible but I have to buy bubblewrap, I always use large bubble for my ebay breakables as it doesn't take much to get a thick cushion around the item. For Amazon books I use jiffys or thin bubble (supermarket) and a nice new envelope, for swapsies I make a judgement call but sometimes end up with just a strong envelope with any excess folded over and stuck down so it can't jiggle around. Don't know anything about the RM stamp thingy.
Becky - your selling/swapping seems to be turbo charged at the moment, can we all ride in your slipstream?0 -
thanks for the tips on packing at i was wondering though, how do i do it faster any ideas?
i swear i need a week each day to get everything done
meanwhile the house is so nasty i just wish i could afford to call in a cleaner, or perhaps and excavation service
and damn those pesky kids, always expecting to be fed :rotfl:
plus i have the council breathing down my neck for yet another form to be handed in a week before they posted it to me, you know that kinda thing
how does anyone manage eh?:-(
