One of the areas I have been successful in has been the new age religious type books, so it is worth a punt. However, a lot of the books I bought at auction last week are mainstream religious and i haven't shifted one yet at all.

Sold 3 RISI within 30 mins of listing am most pleased. On a down note I love books don't mind yellow pages, or tape here and there, even scribbles, but even I draw the line at the book I got today. Imagine a manuscript thats blown out of a 10th story window and landed in the biggest puddle ever. Imagine then picking it all up haphazardly and shoving it back in the cover (in no particular page order). Then imagine posting it someone. Thats 1 of the ones I got today!
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with selling books with a religious theme on Amazon? One of my local charity shops has loads, in good condition, but I just have no idea whether they would sell.

I have picked up a couple previously and they haven't sold (yet!), having been listed for quite a while... but it may be that the ones I have got aren't very good/popular!! If they don't cost very much, perhaps it is worth a try. Sorry, not been very helpful have I??!!

Bella - for auctions try HERE or also HERE ...I guess it all depends where you live!!!!! And how far you are prepared to travel!!!

FREE BOOKS - I have got some from www.free2collect.co.uk, some from responding to ads in freecycle(I am close to four different areas so do 'em all) and believe it or not I put my OWN ad in the freecycle saying I would take away people's unwanted books and got a response from this too. :D

Have had a good response from shuffling my books on RISI too!!!

Still awaiting the outcome of this bank transfer!!!!

Joined my local freecycle the other day - but you have to be fast to get stuff on there!! One of the rules of freecycle (well, my local one) is that you aren't supposed to take them to resell...... ho hum....

Thanks for the auction stuff, will have to browse that tomorrow evening!!

  • re risi - i was wondering how rude it would be if we did a name and shame list on here?

Tho I suspect a few of the worse culprits are deleting any account when they get bad feedback and relisting as a new name

Name and shame lists are never a good idea as they could be used to wreck a competitors business. With no 'policing' of the names listed the whole thing would be a public relation nightmare.

Well I for one have had enough of RISI so am deleting all my books. Ive had 5 swaps of which 3 Ive been duped or no shows so thats it for me. A total waste of time.

[Touching wood] I must have been lucky as I've not had any problems with risi other than a couple of books being a bit tatty or faggy. The massively vast majority have been excellent and I've done really well with sales of them on Amazon. So a big thumbs up from me.

Have you noticed that they've made changes to the site today? You can now enter details on the condition of the books and you can also view a swapper's feedback (there is now a box for comments). It is also possible to view other books from the same swapper.

Also, I think this is a change too - that you get the option to say there is a problem with the swap from day one rather than waiting a week.

Bummer, further to my post above, I have a feeling that the 'making inactive then active again trick', doesn't seem to make your books go to the top of the list anymore. There is now an option to make all book active or inactive, as well as to do them individually, but either way I'm not finding any of mine listed in latest books.

Can someone else try it and see if you find the same thing?

Think they might be onto us :o
