on another note about readitswapit - does anyone else feel slightly guilty for selling them on amazon? I got one, read it and listed it and now its sold (for about a tenner) but i do feel a twinge of guilt over this
i dont think id ever make a proper business out of this
absolutely NOT!
it doesn't say anywhere that there are any specifications about what you can or can't do with your books
you pay the postage you get the book simple as that
would you feel guilty if you decided to keep the book in your library? bookcrossers tend to frown on people who do that but what is the problem with keeping it for another generation to read or for you to re read later?
you ARE passing the book on again later, yes you make some money off it but you're making it much more widely available than it was before and are therefore providing a service that deserves being paid for, simple as thatfounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -
lindoz wrote:hi there
I have books listed on amazon and have sold about 5 or 6. I was buying padded envelopes for 40 pence each from a small local post office as this was the cheapest I could find. But yesterday I found in lidl a pack of 5 padded a5 size envelopes for 99p which will also come in handy for swaps.
save all your envelopes that come in the mail. you can use a label or even the back of junk mail to cover up the writing and to write the new address on
better still get free bubblewrap from the fruit and veg section at tescos etc and then wrap in that and cut up A4 envelopes so that you can use them to wrap the book as you would a present
also any plastic bags that you get like from la redoute etc turn in side out and stick a label on it
i don't care who i'm sending things to i ALWAYS use recycled packaging unless i just simply can not send it any other way (ie i just don't have something big enough) you can always comment that you feel it's your moral obligation to reuse and recycle whenever possible in your listings what are they going to say to that? no one has said anything to me about it and i've been doing it for years!founder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -
voodoozoe wrote:Well whos betting its them who have started all the daft price wars making loads of decent books virtually worthless and destroying their own business!!!!!!!
Life is too short to be so pathetic. Amazon itself constantly encourages the general public to sell their past purchases...what have they got to say about that!!!!!
i bought some DVD R's the other night and was amused to see a button saying 'buy it used' :rotfl:
uh, i think NOT!founder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -

voodoo and postingalwaysposting are capricorns too, maybe there is something in the horoscope thing!
voodoo, in some respects a quiet thread must mean that there are no snags and hiccups so that must be good.0 -
