  • You're all so kind, it's great having a birthday here. The first email of the day was from the MSE team which was unexpected and I have had lots of good wishes on Old Style

Being 50 wasn't a secret, it's just a bit of a shock to the system when it really happened.

My day?...filling in my spreadsheets for the self assement tax, morning, afternoon and yes, evening.

edit - the birthday email was an automatic one sent to everyone, it wasn't like a telegram from the Queen, I've a while to wait for that!
  • ive come back a bit late but wanted to wish you a happy birthday or least whats left of it

and a huge thanks for all the advice towards my amazon sales - its all helping my credit card bills :)

I’m new to selling on Amazon and have sold about 20 things in about 2 weeks, but have had only 2 ratings back – so how do you get the buyers to give you feedback? I always give feedback, is it normal for people not to bother?

Hi there, your buyers can send you feedback if they go to their account page and look at the details of the sale. If they don't do that by themselves Amazon will send an email out weeks after the sale to ask them to 'rate your transaction' with a link. So you may get feedback from your buyers at a much later date.

postingalwaysposting - fingers crossed for you!

Lost Amazon parcels is one that I have been concerned with. Has anyone made a claim against the RM for loss, and if so how much did the RM pay out?

On ebay the RM pay out item cost but not any post and packing element, but the Amazon invoices are nmore confusing..so I wonder if it is just possible to do a screen grab of the selling price and claim for that?

    Soo

press the issue with them if they refuse to pay the postage costs. remind them that they had a contract with you to deliver the item and they failed to live up to their end of the contract therefore they must also pay you for the postage as they have not given you the service you paid for!

On the other side of the coin, I also have a Freddie Mercury paperback book that you can get new from Amazon for £5.99...so how come the cheapest used book is £49.99!!!!!!!! And that is based in UK.

i saw a text book that amazon was selling for £100+ selling for £500! from an american person of course...sheesh do they think we all have jelly for brains over here? (i'm american too, so i have a special right to make disparaging remarks about americans ;) )

I also sold a book yesterday which was the same day I listed it, and my first to Europe. I've just posted it out and was surprised that it wasn't too expensive to send using printed paper rate at all, I'm going to revise a few more of my books to include Europe now.

    Soo

i've made all my paperback books available to the entire world

i regularly sell to australia, the states and japan on ebay and i find that small items really don't cost that much to send. a well padded cd costs only £1.80 or thereabouts. a lightweight paperback will more than be covered by the generous rest of the world allowance so i am happy to sell to them.
