Very true, though it depends on the car and the manual! Trouble with ebay is the listing fee. I tried to sell a few books on ebay and it ended up costing me - not great.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

So what car models Haynes manuals should we be looking out for? I have seen a shelf full in a charity shop and they were about £1 each but didn't know whether any were "go-ers" or not!!!!!! :snow_laug
They'd have to go on ebay really cos too heavy for AmazonLaughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -
Im looking to sell a Xbox 360 HD cable on amazon, never sold anything on there.
If listed it at £24.99 £5 cheaper than 2 other peoples asking price, and amazon say 4-6 weeks for stock, so it should sell.
What fee what amazon take?Total CC Debt: £1750

Car Loan £1750

That is the dilemna! My Ford manual which incidentally has been sold once and the buyer had a problem with their credit card. I then relisted it and it sold again. This time I had an email from the buyer saying it was the wrong one so could they have a refund!!! This particular Haynes book was one I had but no longer had the car and it just happened to be about £7.00 (I paid 50p in the library for it), but it has yet to sell again!! Because I already had it, I am willing to pay the postage and get something for it - it was going to go into the bin, until I started doing Amazon.
I think the only thing you can do is to try and make a note of the type of car and year range etc, go home and type into Amazons sell your stuff page. There really is no easy way. The only other way is to search Amazon and find which ones are worth most. I think all this selling is a gamble anyway - sometimes it pays off and others you lose. All these books are only worth something if you find the buyer for them.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hi Cheets - I don't think that anyone here sells things like the cables so I had a look as if I was listing one for real (this is the easiest way to see what the fees and postage allowances will be)
I don't know how heavy this cable is but they are giving you £4.50 towards the postage so if you post it for less then you keep the difference and the fees for a sale of £25.00 will be around £3.30 - I'm sure you know that you don't pay a penny till it's sold.0 -
Some hints I have seen recently regarding books:
:xmassmile To clean the paged edges, simply wipe with a piece of fresh white bread.
:xmassmile To remove the musty odour from books that have been stored a long time, simply place the book in a paper bag and add a little baking (bicarbonate) soda.
Shake it out well after 10 days or so.
:xmassmile To remove mildew, sprinkle the pages with cornstarch. Let sit for 24 hours and dust off.
:xmassmile Spruce up your leather-bound books by rubbing a little petroleum jelly on the cover with a soft cloth. Buff well. (Not so relevant for Amazonians I know)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I have sold a book this morning and had a "pending" last night on a book I'd had on for about half an hour!!! I think I'm starting to get the hang of things now and think I'm ready to try and get into it a bit more cos we need the money. Me and OH have hoarded books for years and are ready to let go now and have started seriously looking for books to sell!!! Also if I do decide to start tattooing again I will be registering as self employed anyway. This time of year is a really awful time to be out of work cos you can't DO ANYTHING cos everything is closed!!!
I have also got myself on waiting lists for cabinets at two Antiques Centres because when you think about what you pay for those and the fees on ebay its still a lot less than the overheads of having a "brick and mortar" shop (as we know only too well!!!!)
Its a bit of a frightening time for us cos we just moved into a new house with a new mortgage when the shop shut down and income is haphazard to say the least!!! _pale_Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0
