I found 12 books etc at my parents house over Christmas that they/I didn't want and so I've listed all of them - quite a few of them only had a couple of others on there and I did lowest prices in most cases so hopefully I'll have some more sales soon. Think my parents were pleased as I cleared some more space on their bookshelves and the money will be useful for our wedding rings too :j

Thanks to everyone on here for the fantastic tips. You've motivated me to get on with sorting the stuff in our spare room from our move as then I'll have room to go and look in charity shops etc and then store them :)

Just one sale for me today, but as it was my first since 27 December I was pleased.

We've been having a big clearout today and I've listed loads of CDs - up to now I've just done books. I don't think they'll make much £££ as I've gone for lowest price, we just want to get rid!

I sold a book yesterday, which was my first since 23rd December, so was a bit relieved!! Have noticed that I have been undercut on lots of my listings, but I am leaving them at the original price I set for the moment.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone on this thread for all their help and tips - I have made about £87 since about August (less postage and some buying costs), but with a 5 month old baby and active 3 year old, I don't have much spare time to hunt books down!! Sunday mornings are a precious lie in (if we get the opportunity) not the time to go visiting car boot sales!!

I did pick up a book from a cheap shop (not a pound shop, but cheap enough) for 99p the other day. When I looked it up on Amazon, they have it priced at £9.99 plus £1.99 sourcing fee. Listed it (obviously!) but it hasn't found its buyer yet! My plan is that if it doesn't sell, will give to my 3 year old for her next birthday (it is a children's book!!) Did that with a free book I got from a book club - was going to give it to my niece for Christmas, but listed it on Amazon to see if it would sell - sold within about 24 hours! Oh well, she doesn't know she missed out there!!

So thanks AT for starting the original thread, and everyone else for all their posts.

    Happy New Year to everyone.

hi ppl and well done to those that have posted about their recent sales. nice one :)

i've just got my hands on a book that's just about acceptable, and the nearest one to it, that's also acceptable is 48 quid. where's that suprised look icon? ;) - but, although i've read the 2 threads, does anyone know what the carefullest way to clean a book is? this books a paperback, but was once shiny i suspect. it's a bit too marked for my liking.

the last time i tried to clean a book up i picked up the febreeze stuff, any port in a storm time ;), and made a hole in the cover :D, so i know not to use that.

    thanks

    mike
  • Hi Bella, glad to hear that you've made such a lot - with more to come I hope.....

Mike - have you tried a soft putty rubber? (art shop type)

not yet apprentice tycoon, but i'll get one :) it looks like it needs 'oiling' but i'm at a loss as to how to describe it, unless i put 'for reading purposes only' ;)

and i've just aquired another book, like the only larmy didn't have ;) - musty smelling. i'll have to work on that one lol, or try the suggestions i think larmy posted? soda i think, or the patchouli rocks. i'll think of something.

    thanks
