voodoozoe wrote:I print out the Amazon packing slip and put in a compliments slip too with some nice colourful writing which says "please leave feedback if you are happy" etc. and "voodoobookstore" which is my new reliable seller sounding name on Amazon!!! I got my OH to design these for me and I also have a jazzy colourful stickers with my return address and "voodoobookstore" logo on so I guess I probably look quite professional!!!
hi voodoozoe
i never use a print out, but i should i suppose. i don't ask for feedback either, but that's because although i'm confident with the description, i think like an ebay buyer and expect feedback when i've paid, if that makes any sense?
the way amazon works is different, its obvious the buyers paid instantly, but even though i leave buyers feedback, i still don't know where it can be viewed.so i tend to e-mail them, and twice if they leave a good rating.
but i like the idea of the stickers.
i bought a brand new book from a seller that was worth a lot more than 1p, but there was a lot listed, but the stickers and thank you notes were impressive. so much so that i went through all their listings to buy more.
if i ever get time, or find someone who has, i'll personalise mine a bit more.0 -
Hi Lindoz - I have put 2 books together for sale in the past, they were Hovel in the Hills books, these are 1970's 'Good Life' type books from a real life couple that sold up and moved to a rundown cottage in North Wales. There was a spin off cookery book this is a penguin style small paperback with no illustrations, this was priced at around £26.00 on Amazon - you can imagine that I was pleased when I bought it at a boot sale for 20 pence, it was very tanned but still intact, I described as having a San Tropez style tan - I put the Hovel in the Hills (selling at around £2.00) and Hovel cookery book together to give mine the edge on the others. I sold them just before Christmas.
If it's a set that doesn't have a lot of value as individual books (have you searched them on both ebay and amazon?) it may be better off as a set on ebay
Voodoozoe is really going for it big style!!!!0 -
larmy16 wrote:AT I took my books off GM - they were getting a bit out of hand and cluttering up the place. I think someone on here said it was hardly worth listing any on Amazon below 75p if you are not Pro merchant, so they all came off too and went to the charity shop. Though it sounds a great idea, I do not have the time to do the swap book thing.
larmy!!?
keep them on GM, but organise them better. i was in a mess trying to fit books into shelves in alphabetical order. now i keep books as i buy them, list them on both amazon and GM so they're easy to find, or someone can find, and its easy. and i don't live in a house that's big. but it's full of books
and the books i least expect to sell seem to sell better on GM. unexpected type of thing.
so don't exclude one for another
talking of GM, has anyone else noticed that there's some books listed that have descriptions of condition? i looked earlier and noticed it, but unless i change email adresses, i'm not sure how it works
and don't give up on cheaper books on amazon. i left 1 on that was 30p by mistake and even though i'm not a pro-merchant, i still made a profit cause of the weight of the book. so don't dismiss all the cheap books either.0 -

big style? i think we'll be selling books on her site soon apprentice tycoon
but thats a great idea about grouping books together. if the wife's buying something, she'll buy the book, video, and cd  but she likes the old style cookery books and such like.
they seem to do well on amazon and ebay, a bit like the how to stop smoking/eating/spending phenomena that was happening on new years eve on ebay0 -
Ooooh!! I'd love my own website, got some plans for that when I get the time!!! Not selling books but thats top secret for now
.
I used to do the stickers and compliments slips when I sold stuff on ebay (which is firmly on the backburner since it requires so much more effort than Amazon) so it seemed normal to do it.

same here judging by all the questions i ask. i want to retire and run a bookshop/post office, that sells milk and sugar and beer
good luck with the website
who keeps mentioning list books and swapits? i looked at both, bought one from list book, great result. 2nd attempt i'm still waiting after a few days for an acknowledgment, although i like the site owners ethos.
but swapits? is it that new it doesn't recognise isbn's yet? i tried to list one and gave up0 -
Hi Mike, sometimes the ISBN works, sometimes it doesn't but it's not needed in any case - so long as you spell the title and author correctly it makes a link to amazon for you and shows the amazon details for the interested party to look at. If there are any typos in your writing it can't do it.0

I do agree with everything you say Mike but my house is tiny and space is at a premium! Too late now as they are all at the charity shops. Most of the ones I took were quite heavy also, so I don't think I let much money go!!!
n my very early days, like 60 days ago, I listed a ton of craft and house styling books, but they are hardback and very heavy - they have all come up for relisting and I am not sure now whether to do them again? Some of them I think I would literally be posting and packing for no or may minus profit, so I am going to have a good look at the reality later tonight after work.
I may rethink some of my strategies as I have to do my posting in my lunch hour and just before Christmas it was no joke as I am sure you remember - I was having no time to stop between jobs atall.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Only essentials on Ebay/Amazon0 -
So I sold a book on amazon at the beginning of december and sent it recorded to make sure it was safe in the christmas post. It has just turned up on my doorstep again as uncollected. What do I do now? Do i refund minus postage costs? do I get amazon fees back if I do or am I out of pocket? any help appreciated.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 1021 - Proud to be dealing with my debts.0

I'd email the buyer and ask what he wants to do - he may decide to cancel so I'd refund all his costs - but if it was a mistake and he still wants the book I'd ask him to send a cheque for the exact postage costs and send it again.
If you refund all his costs I can't see that you will be out of pocket with the fees, so long as you do it through amazon (rather then just sending him a personal cheque for example)0
