Hi DFSD
Your work dilemma is really difficult. Maybe you need to view it as a means to an end at the moment. You need the cash and moving job or career wouldn't be ideal when you are thinking of having a family. There is plenty of time in the future to consider starting again in your field (unless you didn't like to mention that you are a professional gymnast etc), changing to self employment/consultancy, going into academia or using your skills in another career where you might be able to earn more and work less hours to fit in other things.
The new clothes sound nice and you got a lot for your money. Wearing new clothes always gives me a boost too. Hope you get some nice jeans today. I got some nice ones at Xmas from M&S and they were only £15 and that was new stock rather than sale. I never used to be able to fit into their jeans, but this year they were perfect.
Better go and start my jobs. I will keep you posted on the Ebay sales.Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

DFSD don't be too down.. getting a job you really enjoy doesn't always come immediately or when you expect it. I had been in a career for about (after expensive post grads and training programmes to get qualified) 10 years before I suddenly (without realising it) was on the crest of a wave as it were. I then changed track and am now very happy with what I do even though its A1 stressful and keeps me away from my family and kids much much more than I would like. Nothings for ever and if you can sort things one at a time (eg. debt) this may be able to give you a start into finding something you enjoyMFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Hi DFSD, sorry to hear you are feeling down about the job. At this stage in your life all your energy is focused on paying off the debts and there is none left for focusing on you and things that you want. Because things are soo tight financially it limits what you can do to change things such as retraining or going into another field. BUT REMEMBER IT WONT ALWAYS BE LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! Just think since your LBM you have halved your debt.....that is absolutely amazing:j:j. When the debt is gone you will have so much more freedom of choice in all areas of your life and be able to focus more on your goals and aspirations including a career change

Hello DFSD
Hope you have had a nice day today. Well my Ebay sales were £75, or £60 profit after fees and postage. Also had a £5 Amazon sale. Not bad at all. These were impulse buys I should never have got in the first place so the real lesson is to stop buying stuff! I have hardly bought any non-food items this month and my bank balance is looking much healthier than usual so I think I need to continue this focus on spending.
I may be inspired to sell a bit more on Ebay now. I have too many clothes and I think it is time for some of them to go. And at least they are lighter to post. Tomorrow, I will be the commuter with a suitcase full of Ebay parcels rather than a laptop and files!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Thanks everyone for your advice and sorry for my moaning - I'm very fortunate really, was just having an off day and letting things get on top of me I guess. Apologies, and I'll try not to get that miserable again!
Didn't have a great weekend, I woke up feeling ill early hours of Saturday morning, being sick and bad tummy pains. Hubby wasn't as bad but was feeling off colour too, so not sure if we picked up a bug or if it was something we ate. Feeling fine for Monday morning though - typical.
Have come into work today and there was a meeting called pretty much immediately - looks like our jobs are not very safe after all, and there are likely to be redundancies in the near future. I'm wondering whether hubby and I should consider not overpaying that loan and putting the money into the bank account as savings every month instead in case the worst happens and I lose my job. I just don't know what to do for the best now.
Well done on the ebay parcels Chocs, it's amazing how quickly they add up and how much things that you may have thrown out or given away will make on ebay. I find clothes go well on there, mainly well known labels etc. I need to package up all of our ebay sales tonight and send them off on Tuesday; I might also have another scout around the house and see if there's anything else I can put on there.
It's payday today, so have put £120 over to the tax and insurance pot to cover the car insurance and also a bit towards the car service next month which is going to cost us £220. We'll have enough saved by then though.
Hope everyone has a better start to the week than me!

Just paid another £25 off the credit card (which I actually thought I'd already done, but it seems not...), so outstanding balance is now at £355.0

Hi DFSD, Just wanted say I think you're doing really well & don't beat yourself up for having an off day - we're all allowed them!
Fingers crossed that work settles down for you, but I think saving rather than over paying might help to make you feel a little safer, I know it would me. Like I said though, fingers crossed it doesn't come to that.

Thanks Raini - I'm still trying to figure out exactly what was meant in our meeting as a lot was said, but nothing was very clear if you know what I mean. It was almost like the issue was being skirted around. So, I'll try and determine how realistic the threat actually is before I start panicking, I think. I work in the public sector so it's not as cut and dry as private sector redundancies which is a good thing....... I think.0

Hi DFSD
Gosh, redundancies meeting is not a good start to the week. Alas, I have been through the redundancy saga a few times. Always survived, touch wood, but nevertheless, very unsettling. Depending on the number of people at risk at your site and nationally, it may be that they have to go through the legally defined process of notifications and consultations, the length of which depends on how many people are involved.
If and when you see the package on offer, maybe in light of recent comments it would be worth considering voluntary redundancy (if available), and you have been there are few years? In any case, I think you are right to hold on to some money until you find out what is going on.
I have one Ebay thing to sort out tonight and then that's them all done. I will try and put a couple more things on either on Wednesday or the weekend. I had one lined up to put on last night, but discovered after it was dark that the photo was just too rubbish to use!Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

Tonight's been quite productive so far: I've wrapped all the ebay parcels, ready to post tomorrow; a load of washing has been done and is in the dryer; I've ironed hubby's shirts and trousers for the week; cooked, (eaten!) and cleaned up after dinner; prepared breakfast and lunch for tomorrow and tried to do all the scratchies etc., but the TAB one is not working for some reason.
Tonight we have had a spend of £40 for a good friend's wedding present, but hubby has paid for that out of his 'leftover' money so it hasn't come out of the budget. Unfortunately we had to decline their wedding invitation as we couldn't afford the travel & hotel expenses at this time, but we wanted to buy them a gift.
I have an early finish tomorrow and possibly the day of on Wednesday so hopefully the week will get better from now on!
