  • Thanks so much Chocs :A, your kind words really meant a lot.
Hope you're doing ok Chocs, sorry to abandon you & anyone else who may be reading.

No positive news to report yet I'm afraid, hopefully Mum should be seeing a specialist tomorrow so we really hope and pray they can help, but it seems to take so damn long for them to do anything and a lot of the time she is in serious pain. It's exceptionally difficult being so far away at times like this. I'm trying the best I can to keep busy and occupied but it catches me up several times throughout the day and I go find a little corner somewhere and take 5 minutes. It's worse at night though, and sleep is not easy to come by presently.

Onto DFW news - we won another £20 tonight on some freebie Jjoy bingo thing, so that has gone over to the account. The other £81 hit the account today too - thanks for the finger crossing, it worked! :D
50p & 10p on the scratchcards today, also transferred the £3-odd from our last Amazon sale and yesterday, transferred another £18 from paypal.

Another win for us too... we won a pushchair/pram thing in a competition I must've entered sometime last year! It was worth £450 but I see it is now in the sales for £320 ish, so it's still a big win! We are debating whether to sell it, or to keep it for (hopefully) our own future use, (as we've decided to move forward on the little people front lately, but more on that later ;)). We'll make a decision when the prize is delivered, but think we're swaying towards keeping it in a box somewhere out of the way, let's hope we don't jinx ourselves with it...

We had a shopping delivery tonight, which came in at just over £60 and will be taken out of the next shopping budget which 'officially' starts on Monday.

The last few ebay items are up to about £24 at the moment, hopefully they will go a bit higher.
I also received the returned ebay parcel back today, so I need to refund £17 at some time.

It's payday on Monday and am waiting to see what the overdraft's like before I decide how much to pay off the credit card this month. I think I may be able to pay more than the £250 I had planned, but I don't want to make us short, so will wait and see. I've lost track of what's what presently.

  • Hi DFSD

Gosh, you have a lot on your plate at the moment. I really hope the specialist is able to offer something useful to your Mum to alleviate her pain. I can't imagine what it must be like to know she is having these frequent relapses but nothing seems to help.

You are doing well on JPJ at the moment and I'm delighted your winnings from Sunday were rightfully paid to you.

And a pram! If you like it, I think you should keep it. What a lovely win.

It seems rather flippant to mention this, but my unwanted admirer called another twice. He may well be intelligent, but seems to be lacking in common sense! Enough is enough (he was calling me a lot at work) so I went for the blunt rejection. I hope that is the end of it as I was starting to have a sense of humour failure; work is pretty stressful at the moment as it is.

It's been a tough week, hasn't it? Roll on the weekend... But first, I hope you get some good news tomorrow.

    Best wishes

  • Not at all flippant to talk about your admirer/stalker Chocs - he certainly seems keen! As for calling you at work, it may be me, but I'd find that a little rude, even though it's likely to be unintentionally so. I work in a very lax office but even here personal phone calls, other than those necessary, would be frowned upon by colleagues I think. As you said, he may be intelligent but the common sense is certainly lacking. I hope the blunt rejection angle worked...
Sorry to hear work's stressful for you at the moment, hopefully it becomes less so very shortly.

  • This morning, the bank account is showing just over £30 overdrawn which has come down a lot from what it was. We still have £60 to go in there, but there is also £50 to come out, so we will be overdrawn, but not by a huge amount. This is great news as we'll be able to pay off a lot more towards the credit card than the £250 I'd estimated earlier this month.

  • Well done on managing to minimise the overdraft. That's amazing to get it down to £20 in about a week.

I was going to moan that it had been another long day at work, but I'm half watching a documentary on street kids in Mumbai, surviving on very little money in a dangerous environment and with few prospects. So I will be pleased that I have a job, money and my flat.

My £30 item on Ebay is still £30, but now up to 16 watchers, so hoping it will get to £50 by Sunday. I had a small £6 sale yesterday which I need to package. Waiting for progress on the others.

1 day to go to the weekend, hurrah!

  • Good news on the litte sale Chocs, and with so many watchers, it looks promising that your ebay item may go up before the auction ends. :D

I literally saw the last few seconds of that programme - hubby's channel hopping so I get to see a few snippets of each programme and that's all!

Our overdraft has gone up by £35 today  - don't ask - it's been one of those days. Will be very glad when it's the weekend. Still, it's not a huge overdraft so I'm not worried about it.

Tonight I've actioned the payment towards our credit card as it should come out by Tuesday then. Very hapy to say the credit card balance is now down to £380. :D It will be paid off next month... We shall be credit card debt free next month... sounds great to say it! Then we have the (not so small) issue of the loans.

Off to update my snowball thing and watch the total go down for a little bit of motivation.

Have a nice Friday all X
  • Well done DFSD, im sure you cant wait till next month when the credit cards will be gone forever :j:j. Is it too depressing to ask, but i was wondering what your outstanding amount of debt is now? Regardless your doing brilliantly and the end is in sight!!!!:D

  • Don't beat yourself up about the overdraft being £50 or so. It's still £150 better than you were expecting. With stress levels understandably high at the moment, you have done well to contain it.

I can't believe how fast you have got that CC balance down. £380 and going, going, soon to be gone.

On that documentary, there was a 7 year old girl whose mother had gone and she was left with younger brothers. She said she wondered if she could keep working full time (she really wanted to go back to school but they needed the money) and she was doing the chores. Unbelievable.

You've just reminded me to sort out the parcel! Must do that before bed...
