  • We have some friends staying with us this weekend, so it's been a nice sociable weekend for us, without soending too much money. We did go out for brunch yesterday which cost us £15, but that's fine as a treat, we don't do it very often.

I've been keeping our spend lists up to date in my filofax - I'm determined not to be overdrawn this month!

Today I have an ebay item ending and bids are currently up to £17 which I'm hapy enough with. It would be nice if it goes a bit higher but I can't complain really.

I bought some bargain paint yesterday - B&Q have tins reduced to £5, so I bought one and am going to paint the ensuite today or tomorrow (I have the day off :D). I painted our hallway last summer, but I used the wrong paint really and, although the colour is lovely, it has marks and scrapes on already. I see that there is a wipeable paint available in the same colour, so I will have to get some and repaint the worst walls with that. Trouble is it's £25 a tin! Still, it's money saving in the end if it means I don't have to repaint every few months. I will not be buying that this month though...:o

3 x 10p on the scratchcards today. No wins on JJoy this week.

Yesterday, I received one of the books I ordered from Amazon with my free voucher. :D It's always nice to get free stuff! I guess I've got some baking ahead of me with these yummy recipes. :D

    Happy Sunday everyone

  • I just did another survey, bringing me up to the £5 paypal payout threshold, not sure I'm going to do any more of those surveys from now on, they take soooo long. :( It usually takes a while for that money to reach the paypal account, but when it does I'll transfer that and the ebay money into the bank account in one go.

My ebay item ended at £16.99 + £3.50 postage. The buyer has paid already, so I'll wrap that and send it off tomorrow.
I also need to drop another bag of stuff at the charity shop tomorrow.

  • Hi DFSD

I know what you mean about the surveys. I have lost motivation with a lot of them. I went travelling for a few weeks last year and my lack of replies during that time seems to have reduced the number I am offered. Also, the MS questionnaires can be quite long and tedious so doing the long surveys as well is just too much. You know things are bad when you start the questionnaire and are hoping to be screened out!

I am keeping going with the media surveys and a couple of firms that seem to have the better quality questionnaires. I am also determined to keep going with the one that pays about 5 or 10p per time until I get to payout, just out of sheer determination! Their money is safe until at least 2011 the rate I am progressing :rotfl:

I have had a very busy weekend, mostly working for a couple of charities I support. There has been a general lack of MSE activity. There were a few free bets around too, but I wasn't around at the right times to play them. Never mind, I am sure there will be more next weekend.

You know the £400 I thought was coming in January's pay but didn't, well it arrived in my bank yesterday. So March's plan is to save that plus another £600 (ie £20 per day) to get to a nice round £1k. Wish me luck! Actually, the very thought that this is possible got me thinking. I currently pay about £1k a month for my mortgage (includes an overpayment, mortgage is £25k). If I were mortgage free and saving £2k a month, maybe it would be better to do that a few years rather than get a huge mortgage and pay a fortune in interest. Of course, it depends whether house prices go up a lot, but at the moment, one would think they won't. Hmm, something to ponder.

  • :(

    Hiya

Sorry I've not been around, I've had a couple off work days of and have had a flippin' chest infection so have been feeling rough again and have been off work today. Lately, I always seem to be ill when I have days off!

I didn't get the virgin email Chocs - I got booted out of their site months ago because I forgot my password and tried to guess it too many times, getting it wrong, and didn't really want to call them up to unblock it. What was it about? I hope you benefitted from it anyway.

Glad the £400 turned up in your bank account too, and good luck with the savings this month. I'm sure you'll do it. :)

I had another survey invite today, but couldn't bring myself to do it! It's from the company where the surveys seem to take an age to complete and I often get screened out after completing 90% of them.

Sorry to end on a sad note, but...

I can't go into much detail on here, but we received some very sad and tragic news in the past few days; specifically, the loss of a life too young and in the most horrific way, when life became too much to bear.
It throws things into perspective and makes you re-evaluate what is actually important in life. In short, I think I need to worry less and try and start living more. Indeed, life's too short.

    Hi DFSD

Sorry to hear you have been ill. I hope you feel better soon. Even more annoying when ill during a holiday.

The Virgin thing is a free bingo offer for this weekend if you buy tickets during the week. I decided to give it a go, so we will see if anything comes of it. I won most of my money back from the qualifying tickets last night, so it would just be a bonus if I get a win at the weekend.

Sad, sad news in your message. It is shocking when these things happen to someone you know and certainly does put things into perspective.

Take care of yourself this week xx

  • I'm back at work today:(, although still coughing and spluttering - much to the annoyance of 'the twits' I work with. :D

I sold a BIN on ebay yesterday which has netted approx £6 profit. Also had an Amazon sale this morning which will bring us approximately £4 after postage.

The £5 survey payment hasn't hit my paypal account yet, but when it does I'll transfer the ebay lot over too, after paying any ebay fees from it first.
