well done on the ebay sales, all helps. I only have very small value bits to sell now, unless I have another rummage.
  • Very good on Ebay - those amounts must have gone up in the last few days. I have found a few small items that I could list. They won't make much, I would just be glad of them going to a good home rather than the bin. If I get chance, I'll put them on tonight.

You have been very industrious. My mere one load of washing and almost ironed it all seems rather pathetic! I want to get some cooking done later. I have a fridge full of vegetables so I thought I would cut them up, blanch and freeze them in "ready to stir fry" packs.

    Second hint duly noted ;).

You have all the luck with JackpotJ; even when I win some free spins, I get about 10p. I've kind of given up with the bingo recently but may go back to it. Done a bit of betting this weekend which should give me £25 or so :D.

  • Grrr, I hate it when posts I'm writing just vanish into mid air!

I had written something along the lines of the items I thought would be of low value on ebay actually sold for around £10 each, so it's definitely worth listing them even if you don't think they'll make a lot. Good luck with the rummaging and listing. :)

Great idea about the stir fry veg Chocs, I do the same for root veg - ie carrots and leeks etc., but never thought of doing it for stir fry type veggies. I shall be 'borrowing' your idea tomorrow! Thanks! :D

Music Magpie would only offer us £11.95 for 35 cds and DVDs! It pains hubby to get rid of them for so little, only to know they'll be selling them on for a lot more. So, he's decided to put them in the attic until we (unenthusiastically) do another car boot and what we don't sell will then be given to charity. I'd rather they make a little money on them than MM making a steal.

I have the day off tomorrow :j:j:j and the plan is to tidy and organise the two spare rooms. They are both messy at the moment and there's lots of things that need to find a home somewhere other than on the floor or the beds. I need to buy a few more shelves and storage bits when I have the funds to do so. New houses are lovely, but they just don't have a lot of room for storage or storage type furniture.

Yukki - how's the teeth now? Any better?

Chocs - How's the savings/plans for house buying going? Is it on the horizon anytime soon?

That's my lot for this evening, enjoy the remainder of the weekend everyone.

Just feel the need to say thanks for your ongoing support guys too, it is a real motivator to add to this diary and know that people are 'cyber-supportive', especially when we don't have a lot of friends and family to talk to round here. I probably don't say it enough, but it's really appreciated. X

Hi DFSD - just reading your last post and hearing that you have 2 spare rooms. Have you ever thought about taking in a lodger (or 2?!!)? Depending on where you live it could even be a student from overseas so that you knew you could count down the weeks if it was all too much.

I didn't think I could share a house with someone like this..but now I do. Have done for almost 3 years and with the right person staying and some mutual house rules its great.

    Anyway just a thought..

  • Hi Brizzle, great idea but I'm not sure I could do it to be honest (or rather, I'm not sure anyone would put up with living with me, apart from hubby who has had to get used to my slightly crazy ways!).

We have one double spare room and one single (there's a single bed in there and not much else will fit). The double room is used quite a lot with my parents and friends and hubby's family coming to stay so I couldn't really give that one up to be honest. I don't think it would be fair to charge anyone rent on the other tiny room either really. Thanks for the suggestion though, if I had a bigger house I'd definitely consider it. A new and modern house is great in that it's pretty much maintenance free, reasonably cheap to heat etc., but the bedroom sizes leave a lot to be desired...

Thanks for the suggestion though, it's much appreciated. X

Hope you're going to have a nice meal tonight. We had the Morrisons meal deal for £8 and it wasn't bad at all. The wine is nice we just had to cook some roast potatoes to go with our chicken.

My tooth is the bane of my life. It's not my teeth anymore more like a boil on my gum. (hope you're not eating). So it's uncomfortable whenever I move, but there is nothing else I can do until I go to hospital so it's a waiting game. I could go back to the dentist but he has seen it four times at least now and still not managed to get rid of it so I don't have a lot of faith in him. Just getting on with it now and focusing on the wedding.
  • I'm still planning on moving this year. For various reasons I won't bore you with, I can't put my flat up for sale until later in the year, but I'm hoping to get the process started in the summer.

Moneywise, I just need to find £170k and then persuade someone to lend me a similar amount. I hope you weren't drinking when you read that. And no, I am not looking to move into a mansion. I just want to trade up my two bedroom flat into a two or three bedroom house. I think it is doable, but it is going to be tight for a few years, as it always is after a house move. I was horrified when I realised the stamp duty alone would be £10k.

I have done a lot of MSing the last two weeks and was thinking I might ease off to get some other stuff done. Seeing the numbers written down here makes me think I should get booking some more jobs!

Have a nice day at home. I'm very jealous.

  • Ouch, Yukki, that's sounds so painful. I really hope it's sorted for you soon. Focusing on something else is great for taking your mind off things, esepcially something as exciting as your wedding!

Chocs - HOW MUCH!!!!!!!! I did actually have to re-read what you'd written a few times. This is where I'm thankful we live where we do, as we would be in a cardboard box if we needed money like that. Although the property in the area where I grew up, and where my family still live, is around those prices. Good luck with finding the £170K - if you do find it lying around somewhere can you let me know where please? :rotfl:10K stamp duty is just horrendous too isn't it.
  • This is starting to become an annoying regular occurence - a day off for me and I've been ill again in the night with a tummy bug and feeling rough today. :( I had to go back to bed this morning after hubby left for work as I was feeling so rough, got a couple hours more sleep and feeling a bit better on it. Presently I'm not feeling up to doing all the clearing and sorting out I had planned, but hopefully will do so later so my day off is not completely wasted!

10p & 25p on the scratchcards today for me. A couple more buyers have paid overnight for their ebay purchases, just one left to pay now and then I'll transfer the money across.

  • Well I managed to find a bit more energy and have got a few things done so far today after all. I have sorted out two big cardboard storage boxes that needed throwing and condensed everything into two much smaller boxes, throwing or charity-shopping what we no longer need. I've managed to make the spare rooms look presentable too - admittedly a lot of the car boot stuff has gone under the single bed, but it's out of sight at least! I have filled a black bing bag for the charity shop too which I'll try and take to a shop next weekend.

I've also gone through my 'present box', and written a list of what I've bought for whom for either birthdays or Christmas already, and what are spare gifts.

I've also sorted out some magazines for recycling and put the wash on to dry - no chance of hanging it out to dry today unfortunately.

I've just finished two incredibly boring surveys for the grand sum of £1.60 too! Urgh, they were long. I only need one more survey for a £5 payout and then I don't know if I'll do any more, they're so dull and long winded.
