  • Glad you had a nice day Chocs, 3 MS's is great going!

I've never actually signed up for the £10 a day challenge, not sure I would manage it to be honest as my moneymaking seems to go in a bit of an all or nothing type pattern and I know I'd get disheartened if I failed miserably! Not the right attitude on my part at all but it's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

If I did do it, however, I think I'd prefer your method of keeping track month by month so you can see where you are. It's also shorter term goals than over the year which would help with motivation for sure. Good luck! X
  • Had to pick hubby up from work later tonight, so I popped into the supermarket nearby to buy some yoghurts and muesli - shop's own of course, which is lovely and tasty - and budget friendly! Also picked up a couple of bottles of shampoo & conditioner as it was half price and we'll be needing some soon.

We stopped in M&S on the way back to pick up some meat in their 3 for £10 offer. They didn't have anything left at the weekend when we went to buy some. Tonight we bought 3 lamb shoulder joints and some lamb leg steaks for a tenner - all now in the freezer - Bargain. :)

Not a lot of DFW news today - 25p & 10p on scratchcards, no further wins or sales to report! Tonight I need to wrap the Amazon sale for posting tomorrow, also need to withdraw the £6.28 or whatever it was to my bank account, which takes AGES from Amazon.

I have a double batch of chicken cooking in the oven to make a chicken curry with for dinner tonight. Have cooked extra so we can freeze some portions for hubby's lunches next week. Mine's a quorn curry as it's slightly healthier the chicken thighs, even after the skin is removed. ;) I forgot to mention, I'm doing really well on the boots diet thing - I lost 5lbs last week :). It seems to suit me - not so much of a diet as just a healthy eating 'monitor'. It's only £1 a week too so I don't mind paying for that. We are joining the gym tomorrow which, at £20 is reasonable, but it does smart a little to pay it - being a DFW and all that. I used to be a massive gym fan, going 5 times a week and was very fit, but lost all confidence and hence the downward spiral really. :o Still, I'm on the up! (as long as the scales don't go that way too!).

I received a freebie couple of sachets of yeast for breadmaking and a recipe book thing in the post today, so may get the bread machine out at the weekend.

Also received our water bill today - they owe us £16 and are reducing our monthly payments by £7 a month to £23pm as they feel we are overpaying. I am pleased, but a little apprehensive, as I don't want us to be faced with a bill at the end of the year if we don't pay enough to cover the cost. Think I'll keep an eye on this one and up it again if I need to.

The £168.50 loan payment came out today as scheduled, hopefully in a couple of months we will be overpaying that one.

    That's today's round up!

  • I have just applied for, and been approved for, a Sainsbury's credit card... don't panic - it's all part of the master plan! It's not for balance transfers or anything, but to use solely for our shopping which we get from Sainsburys all the time, as well as petrol. We shall be using it to purchase these things, gaining double nectar points for 2 years, and transferring the money across immediately from the relevant budgets. Sorted!

  • Wow, you are doing so well. Good idea to get the Sainsbury card - might as well make the most of any benefits you can get if you do your regular shop there.

Hope it goes well at the gym tomorrow evening.

hi there - thanks guys for advice on free listing day..made £78 before postage and for once didn't underestimate our posting costs (£6) . Now scouting around for more stuff...if the kids don't nail their stuff down I might try some of that!

My first additional £100 OP on the mortgage also went through this month - will try the little and often route (even if its say only £5 or so) with that one to add to the amount we regularly overpay as interest rates are low.

Good idea if you pay it off every month. I'm about to do the same but for Tesco (only because their 0% is 2 months longer than sainsburys lol)
We're going to use ours to book the wedding to give us a headstart.
  • Glad you made a good amount on ebay Brizzle and good luck with the mortgage overpayments.

Yukki - How exciting - booking the wedding! When are you getting married?
  • 10p and 25p on the scratchcards today, put 15p on one bingo card and won £20. :D Tried to withdraw it but they want proof of I.D. so will need to email that in the week (bet they wouldn't want I.D. if I was depositing).

Today we're having a couple of planned spends - we're buying some lighting for the house which is, of course, in a great sale and will cost us about £20 - £25, and possibly some paint (which is also on offer ;)).

I need to jump in the shower and get moving!
