  • Oh, forgot to say I lost 2lbs this week, so that's half a stone in 2 weeks. :D
  • Hi DFSD

That is fab news on the weight loss - Good for you! I need to lose 2 stone at the mo :o but I cannot get up earlier for the exercise which is what I need to do. Plus all healthy stuff is more expensive on the shopping which I can't afford just now.

Hi Chocs what was the concert you went to? I love all types of music too.

Am also looking forward to the weekend!

  • Hi DDFW

To be honest, I haven't done any 'planned' exercise yet - we haven't joined the gym due to hubby's work commitments this month and haven't had a lot of time (or will!) to do much else.

As for food, we're on a strict budget for our groceries monthly, and spend £150 for the two of us including cleaning products and 'everything else' so it can be done (although it takes quite a bit of planning!). I'm just eating 3 healthy meals a day - usually cereal & banana for breakfast, (sainsbury's do a big pack of their own weetabix for about 80p which last me 3 weeks or so); soup & mini naan bread for lunch (own brand 'chunky' soup, naan from pack of 6 from sainsbury's when they were half price at 59p); dinner is something like a stir fry/quorn dish/meat & lots of veg or a couple of boiled eggs & crackerbread when I'm not extremely hungry. Am not snacking in between, but make sure I have fruit or veg with most meals to keep me full.

I'm not buying any 'diet' products, have decided I need to do this the most inexpensive and healthy way possible!

Shame they don't sell willpower in a bottle though, I'd buy tonnes of that no matter what the price! :rotfl:

Hope you have a great Tuesday X

Yesterday (Monday) was our first NSD since September apparently (according to OH's budget app) - yippee! (I will be doublechecking as am sure 25 December was also a NSD lol!) We are definitely spending less but somehow every day would see a little spend from one of us so hopefully this is the first of many NSDs this month.

Scheduled a little OP on the mortgage too for a few weeks time. Little and often!..

By the way have you tried making your own soup - think you mentioned it a few posts ago...had the most amazing homemade parsnip, potato and leek soup at weekend - very cheap and yummy.

  • Well done on the mortgage overpayments brizzle, it'll all add up to make a big difference, no matter how small the payment is. :T

Yes, I used to make lots of homemade soup and freeze it, but I found it went a bit watery when defrosted and, because I made it in big batches, got a bit fed up with the same soup all the time. That's just me being fussy though! You certainly can't beat a fresh homemade soup served steaming from the pan... mmm.
  • Bleurgh. I've been feeling really miserable the past few days. :( I don't have any particular reason to feel so; I guess it's just a culmination of the weather/time of year, not having enough money, hating my job and having no enthusiasm for anything lately. Roll on spring and the cheeriness it brings, I say.

Spent £30 on some bits we needed in the house last night, also ordered some excellent priced toiletries and a few little presents from the Lloyds sale on 'grabbit' which cost £18 in total (with an extra 20% off code too ;)). That will keep us stocked up for a good while in the toiletries department and save us money in the grocery budget. Will also save us some pennies when it comes to Birthdays & Christmas as I've picked up a few nice gifts very reasonably, with specific people in mind.

10p & 20p on scratchcards last night, no hint of making any money yesterday.
Oh, my ebay item has a bid on it, but only for 99p with 4 days to go - it cost me £20 so I really hope I don't lose a lot of money on it and it makes a decent price. :(

  • 2 x 10 on the scratchcards tonight. Ebay item bids now up to £5, and have relisted one item which didn't sell last time; to be honest I don't expect it to sell really but it's worth a try.

  • Hi DFSD,

Keep re-listing (if its free that is) - I sold 2 items this time that I must have re-listed at least 7 times ;)

  • We were up early this morning so I had time to do scratchies (2x10p) before work. Have also checked bank account (no-one's gifted me a million overnight :p) and had a looky at my ebay items - one has no bids and one now at £10.

Still feeling down in the dumps, but I'm hoping a day off tomorrow :j, and a nice weekend with my parents will help my mood. :D

I have to sort the car insurance out next week too - hopefully going through Quidco to receive a bit of money back eventually. It's not gone down from last year  but is roughly the same price. Thankfully we have the money saved to pay it immediately in one payment rather than spreading it over the year or putting it on the credit card as we used to do.

Off to read a few more diaries now - desperately trying to cling on to any shred of motivation I have at the moment and this usually helps.

    Have a good day all
