  • Glad you had a lovely (and free :D ) lunch SkySky, it's so refreshing sometimes to kick back and have some fun and catch up with friends amidst all this "debt-busting". Good news about a bit of overtime too, it all adds up.

Good luck with the court case, I would be nervous too but you're there for all the right reasons, and it's not you in the wrong. I can't believe what that carpet fitter did! That's terrible.

Hope your OH is better soon, man flu is the worst - for all concerned!

As for the garden, yes, we need to get started on the 'clearing' of cr&p. I also ordered some free carrot seeds from the freebies board today and I received some free bulbs in the post the other day so that's a start. :rotfl:
  • Wow, I can't believe it - less than 3 hours after listing another book on Amazon it has sold for just over £6. :j

That's £10.20 made today from books which will be another little payment towards the virgin card. :D

    congrats that is good news
  • Thanks elantan - it's spurred me on a bit this weekend! x
  • Wow, I can't believe how successful we've been with Amazon this weekend - a DVD I listed on Sunday has sold on there overnight, bringing in another £4.31. That's another £14.51 paid off the credit card for very little effort. :j

Today I also have to fill in the forms for deferment of my student loans of years ago - I don't earn enough to have to pay them back (and probably never will!).

I also have 3 items ending on ebay tonight, 2 of which have bids on so far, so I shall wrap those and the Amazon sale up tonight, ready to post tomorrow.

Hopefully Monday goes quickly... and hopefully we receive our Music Magpie cheque today!!!

  • Have also paid off the usual £300 off the credit card today (as won't come out til pay day). New credit card balance: £4218.26. I'm looking forward to it being under £4000 next month!
  • Hi DFSD
I have just read your diary from start to finish and just wanted to say i think your doing a brilliant job with the credit cards and definately made the right move in cutting the emergency one up. Its far too tempting!!
I am currently trying to clear OHs overdraft at the minute and now how hard it can be to keep throwing your hard earned money at these things.
It is unbelievable how easy it is to run up debt and how difficult it is to pay back!!
I have subscribed to your diary so will be watching with interest!!
    Best of Luck:T :T

  • Thanks wantabetterlife and well done on reading the diary all the way through - I'm aware I repeat myself a lot so it must have been quite a task to read the whole lot! :rotfl:

And yes, now that I've done it, it was definitely the right thing to do in cutting that card up. There have been several occasions since where I think we *may* have used that card if it had been an option. The virgin card has been around the £4,000 - £5,000 mark for far too long now and now that I am not transferring any other balances to it, I can really see it going down. It will feel like a big achievement for us when we get it below the £4k mark - even though it's still tonnes of money we owe! :o

Good luck with clearing the overdraft - I have really struggled in the past to do so and I know how difficult it can be once you're in it.

  • It's not been a bad Monday so far, I guess...

I've received another email for a survey which I shall do tonight, and have entered lots more competitions. I've also been checking out options on the 'up your income' board, but I don't think the party plan / club option is for me really.
We have pretty much ebayed to the max, but I'll have a last scout around the house tonight to see if I can find anything else to ebay and check the car boot boxes (which are now taking up 2 shelves in the garage!) - I think hubby's getting a bit nervous as to what I'm gonna sell next, he doesn't sit still in one place for too long and is worried when I take his photo! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • I got home from work tonight to find a message on the phone to ring channel 5 - it seems I've won a Supertooth device for the car (I'm guessing it's some sort of hands free kit?!) from a competition I entered online.

I've had a look online and they're worth about £30 - £40, so when it comes, I think we'll sell it on ebay and use whatever we get to pay another bit of the credit card. :j

I've wrapped up all of my Amazon parcels and two that have bids on finishing on ebay soon, and have also completed my student loans deferment form.

I also received a voucher in the post from Boden today for £10 off - I can't see that there's a minimum spend so just going to check out the website and see what I can get for free!...
