wow sounds like you havent been sitting on your perverbial laurels ...well done ...great news on the ebaying ...have been trying to talk hubby into it for ages but he just aint buying it at all0
-
Hi elantan :hello: - my hubby is not into the ebaying either. It takes him ages to part with stuff (although he is getting better at it) and gets sentimental about 'items'. He's come round to the idea of the music magpie website though and has got rid of loads of cds and dvds in the last 6 months - I find bribery works really well!!!! :rotfl:0
-
I've just listed two more books on Amazon - hopefully they'll sell and make a few more £'s soon!0
-
I've just done another survey tonight, and got screened out of a second. am 1 more survey away from £10 to the paypal account. :j
I also won a cadbury's chocolate pack tonight on the instant win online game so hubby will have some treats in his packed lunch when it arrives!
Have entered lots more comps today too.
STILL waiting on my music magpie cheque, my mobi cashback cheque AND the wii I won back in January to arrive in the mail.
I also bought something for our garden with some of the paypal balance from ebay yesterday. It arrived today but unfortunately is the wrong size, (my own fault!) so I will try and sell it on the notice board at work tomorrow. I'm sure it will go for the price we paid for it, so no real loss hopefully.
We've had leftovers for tea tonight :j and I'm just about to make our lunches for tomorrow. I shall also be trying to work out our budgets tonight for next month... although I'm not sure I really want to look! :rolleyes:0 -
Thank :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: it's Friday! I'll be so grateful for a couple of days off work, I really will.
I'm very annoyed at Virgin this morning - checked my statement and they're charging interest on that £12 charge they (wrongly, in my view) applied to my account last week! A charge of 13p on it already. Ok, so it's only 13p, but it's the principle of the issue that annoys me. The min payment is £25, I pay £300+ a month, they tried to take an additional £25 from a CANCELLED direct debit and then charged me when they couldn't. Grrrr. I really hope this doesn't mess up my credit rating when applying for a new 0% card in July / August. Think I may have to check my credit score in a couple of months.
I've listed the garden item on the notice board at work this morning, for £25 (we paid £30, but if I can sell it on here it saves me ebay / paypal fees!).
Also need to take some pictures of a lovely mirror we have at the weekend and sell that on there next week as it won't fit anywhere in our new house.
I'm looking forward to sorting our garage at the weekend as everything has just been thrown in there since we moved. I shall be looking for stuff for the car boot box, ebay / notice board box and charity shop box and finding a tidy rightful place for everything else! Sad, I know!
Our busiest time is coming up at work in the next month or two and I'm pretty sure there will be requests for us to work overtime at weekends soon. It's time and a half / double time so, money-wise, it would be foolish not to do it. The thought of it at the moment though makes me want to cry! I hate work so much that every day is a struggle so I'm not sure how I'd do weekends straight through for a month or so too.I know I shouldn't moan about my job and paid overtime in the current climate, and I am so grateful I have a reasonably well paid job, but it is so stressful that it makes me quite ill at times and there are frequently tears in the evenings after work.
Anyway, on a happier note, I don't have to work THIS weekend so I intend to make the most of it!
Have a great weekend one and all x0 -
I consistently moan terribly about my job too but actually most of the time when I am there, its not too bad, it seems getting there is actually worse than the job itself!
Perhaps don't work all weekend when the overtime is offered just one of the days - unfortunately sometimes our spending habits reflect our mood and if you are really down about going to work, you are probably more likely to spend. I know debt busting is a massive part of our lives but sometimes you have to remember to have a life or it will drive you insane (thats what I keep telling myself!
).
My pal from my school days (the only person I probably keep in touch with from those days) is coming over today. She is a teacher so we normally get together every school holidays. A cheap and cheerful lunch is in order. A friend of mine has a pub and she owes me a favour as I worked there for a couple of hours on valentines night to help her out (sshhhhh!). So all in all a nice day for me! :TOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 607 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Wow, what a lovely day you have planned! I'm very jealous - sounds like bliss! Have a lovely lunch and catch up with your friend and enjoy your meal, and relax knowing that it's cheap or free too!
I live about 200 miles from most of my really good friends (I moved for this job believe it or not!!!) so I don't get to see them enough and it's great when we do get together which is only about twice a year at present.
As for overtime, the trouble is, we get double time on Sundays which is brilliant, but only if we work Saturdays too - urgh - so it's not really worth doing one without the other to be honest. I shall be good and prepare myself mentally for doing the overtime, not plan anything at weekends for a few weeks and just try and focus on the money.I'm desperate to make a start on our garden as the previous people left it in a state and we need to start from scratch out there. I adored our last garden which we worked really hard on, and grew lots of fruit and veg etc. We can't afford to do it at the moment and there's no way I can see us having spare cash to do so in the next few months, so if I use any overtime to pay for that at least I'll have something nice out of it I guess. I SHOULD pay it off of the credit card but I will make an exception for the garden as it's just a necessity for us. We don't go out and haven't eaten out in about 6 months, don't drink / smoke or have expensive hobbies (!), so I am (telling myself
) I am happy to work a few weekends if it means I have a garden to enjoy.
Goodness, listening to me rambling on... sorry - I'll shut up now!0 -
I love Mr. Postie - he just bought the wii I won, wii sports and a carnival game it came with. :j
Going to save the console and sports game for her birthday and the carnival game for her Christmas present!0 -
:j One of the books I listed on Amazon last week has sold today. :j That's just under £4 profit which I'll use as a little payment off the virgin card when it makes it to my bank account.
I've listed another book and a dvd on there today, hopefully they sell soon too.
Yesterday I switched our gas and electricity tariff to an online one - same supplier though as they seem the cheapest, despite the problems we're having with them messing up our accounts lately. It shoud save us a little bit more throughout the year. I also turned our heating timer off for the mornings now as we had it set to come on for a couple of hours in the morning. We don't need it on now it's getting warmer and will save a few more pennies.
I also sorted out lots more stuff for the car boot sale yesterday. I had every intention of clearing the garage out but I found a big spider  and hubby wasn't home to 'get it' so I hurriedly gave up on that idea!
We are overdrawnbut are working on 'damage limitation' now until pay day on Wednesday. I had to buy some fresh fruit for the week and a couple of other essentials this weekend, but spent as little as possible on them.
I need to take a photo of a mirror today that I shall be listing at work on the notice board tomorrow so that will be my next job - as well as cleaning the house which I've been putting off all weekend...

My lunch was lovely (and free!). To be fair, I don't have that many people that I could count on as true friends, probably only her and a couple of others - I have lots and lots of acquaintences (sp?) but I am not sure any of them are real friends. She also gave me £30.00 for helping her out last Saturday (ssshhhh!). All good things come to those who wait :T
As for the garden, a lot of work that can be done in the garden can be as cheap as you want it to be. This weekend we have been digging flowerbeds over and digging in well rotted organic matter (horse muck from a friend of mine!) ready for planting. Aldi's have got seeds this week at 50p a pack. I just love being outside.
My OH is doing his dying duck impression though. Manflu eat your heart out! The doctor has said that he has a severe chest infection, which I have sympathy for, but now he is just being a miserable git.
I have to work tonight normally start at 6.00 but they are short staffed so I am going to go in at 4.00pm instead. I get £2.00 per hour more for any hours I do on a Sunday so that will make up for not being able to work on Tuesday lunchtime. I am finally after a year and a half going to Court on Tuesday about the little swine that came into my house to measure up for carpet that I had purchased and nicked my mobile phone while he was in my bedroom   . I am bricking it as for some stupid bizarre reason it has gone to Crown Court and I have never been to anything like this in my life!!
You seem to have quite a few bits sell on Amazon, most of my books are fiction books so I doubt they would sell. I really must make more effort this week to do some listing on fleabayOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 607 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T
