I too phoned CAB in a panic and was told to pay it and then appeal, well even I can see thats not going to work!! I then said about the advice I'd read on here to ignore it and he said, well I can't tell you to do that but..........!0 -

When I originally got my parking ticket I was tempted to speak to Citizens Advice too but I had a feeling they'd just advise me to pay it or go through the PPC's appeal procedure so I didn't even bother contacting them.
I spoke to my friend and he told me about this forum and about how these companies are just scammers and after a few minutes of reading the threads on here I knew the best bet was to just ignore it, and guess what? After several threatening letters and the threat of a court summons I haven't heard anything else and more importantly I haven't had to pay these scumbags a penny and I now know quite a bit about what PPC's can and can't get away with just from reading the excellent posts by the people on here. Thanks everyone!
Oh and I also now advise other people to ignore private parking tickets and to read the posts on here for more info. The more people who know these companies are just scammers the better.0 -
As with so many other posters I received one of CEL's "PCN" notices in the post last November. My wife had been in the Rivergate Shopping Centre in Irvine, Scotland. Concerned and shocked that the so called "free parking" there had become a tad expensive, I jumped online and found the floods of advice out there about Civil Enforcement Ltd from all you good MSE's.
I have studiously ignored, the first letter, the subsequent second and this week received the "Debt Collectors" one from Newlyn PLC. Because I had been through the forums previously, I knew what it was as soon as I saw the name on the envelope. I have taken great heart from the advice here on MSE and they can go and take a running jump!
I will happily provide scans of my letter chain to date if it would help.
Thanks to all.
Glad to read your post, welcome to MSE! Let them take that running jump! :T
It would be VERY helpful to other people if you could scan in tinypic links to your letters so far (and then add any more that you get before they give up!). Make sure you cover up or blank out any car ID or personal details, references, barcodes on the payslip, dates or car park location, then could you add them in a reply on this thread linked below please?

If you find your tinypic links don't work (as this site may not let you post links just yet as you are still a newbie) you could leave a gap between the http and the/ for each link. Then we can convert them to real links and Crabman can add them to the Hall of Shame!
Thankyou in advance if you do this. The example letters are one of the most persuasive things we can show people to reassure them that they are not going to Court!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Having reported my friend and my experience of CE Ltd on the Isle of Wight recently I'd like to let everyone know that we, even as pensioners, are holding firm and ignoring the 'fine'. There has been a report in our local paper and we have informed trading standards and reported CE Ltd to the BPA Quite exciting really, just waiting to see if I have a letter in the local paper tomorrow. Safety in numbers I say - lets hope everyone keeps strong.0

Well done.
Resolve and widespread communication both ably used.0 -
These people make me . I today have received my first letter from newlyn (DO NOT IGNORE THIS LETTER ) Blah blah.
Anyhow, i received my PCN as i had been in Irvine Rivergate Centre in November with my mum doing my xmas shopping. I am a mother of 3 and had my two younger kids with me, the youngest being 4 months at the time. As we headed out of the shopping centre my baby was not a happy chappy and was taking a little bit of a temperature. By the time I had seen to her and calmed her down i was 12 mins over the 3 hrs limit. ( I didnt know this until the letter came through). 12 mins??? and they want to charge me £70 quid. I dont think so. Well I have received 1st newlyn letter and look forward to many more. Let them take me to court and see their face when I tell the court I was 12 mins over because my baby was unwell. (Even though I know it wont go to court)
Seriously people, ignore these cowboys.
I have NO intention of paying them!!0 -
Very well done wongie, newmummy123 & all others who are resisting/ignoring these toerags.
Keep holding your nerve whatever rubbish gets delivered thro' your letterboxes, & always remember, you really have absolutely nothing to fear from this brace of scumbags. They're all hat & no oil or cattle as they say in Texas.0 -
Hi, I received a parking ticket from Civil Enforcement yesterday, demanding £75 (or £150 if over 14 days) because I was over by 46 seconds at a Homebase carpark. I was actually at the car approx 10 minutes before this but was putting away my baby's buggy and getting my baby and mother into the car. I am wondering if it is worth talking to the manager of the Homebase in which this occurred, even though I wasn't actually shopping there at the time, or if this would still count as entering into a discussion with Civil Enforcement? The carpark allows you to park for free for 3 hours (and I left after exactly 3 hours and 46 seconds!)
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated0 -
17654b Totally ignore the letter and don't waste your time seeing the manager of the shop he will just refer you to the parking scumbags again, don't worry and totally ignore the crap they will send you. Do you seriously think they will take it to court? No chance whatsoever for 46 seconds. They would get laughed out of the place. Not one of them as taken up the pepipoo challenge.
These forums are really working aren't they? Just look at how many new posters are coming on for advice and people who are new here just saying they have a ppc "invoice" and are going to ignore it, wonderful.
Now the ppc's must without a doubt be losing money now. Think about all the people reading these posts and doing exactly the same, it's a shame we don't really know how many.0 -
I today received a Parking Charge Notice of £150, or £75 if I pay within 28 days of issue in The Coppins Bridge Lower car park on The Isle of Wight. Following all the advice I have read on various forums I too will be ignoring all Letters from Civil Enforcement LTD and complaining to Trading Standards.
The PCN issue date was Today but the incident was for Mid January
The Letter said I parked from x:xx.xx(seconds)pm - xx:xx.xx(seconds)pm. The Retail Shops were all closed!
I wonder how many more people have had these charge notices...
