I just got my latest bill for the above tariff, and noticed that for some reason my bank account hasn't been debited, and a small message: "You have payments outstanding" appears at the bottom-right of the bill.

Strangely, the same has happened to my mother, so I wonder if they're trying to disconnect people from this tariff.

I've just spent over 50 minutes (!!!!) on the phone to O2 trying to resolve the problem. The staff were unable to say why this had happened, whether it would happen again, or how many people are affected.

If you're on this tariff, it might be worth checking that O2 are still taking payment, otherwise you might be disconnected and find yourself unable to re-connect (as O2 no longer offer this tariff).

I've never been charged for any 0845 or 0870 number I've called.

If I haven't exceeded my 200 inclusive minutes on either of my PUFL's, and therefore have nothing to pay, I normally send one text message every couple of months just to keep the direct debit alive. I know it is only for 11p per account but it seems to work. I use First Direct and they seem to be quite quick to cancel a direct debit if it hasn't been used for a few months.

Must send a couple of texts now to check.

I pay by credit card as O2 offer this as a payment method.. has been a time when payments didn't go through due to O2 messing up (when I told them my new card details).

A friend of mine on this tariff went into his local O2 shop a couple of days ago and enquired about a phone upgrade. He was offered a choice of Nokias - a 6230i with free bluetooth headset or a 3230 for £10 or an N70 for £79.99. He took the 6230i for a tenner and is well chuffed!

I tried in my local store and was told I was not entitled to any upgrade as I wasn't paying any line rental.

    C'est la vie.

He tells me that on the form he signed it definitely said his contract was unchanged.

  • Wow - I didn't realise O2 PUFL deal had a fan club! I've also got one of these deals - 50 mins O2/landline and never get charged as I rarely get to the 50 mins but am very interested to see that 0870/0845 numbers are included - didn't know about that - I think that absolutely great :T .

Also got a deal from T mobile that was on this site couple of years ago - when the deals were you paid up front for your phone+tariff then got all of your money back - and still got 1 years 750 off peak mins/50 texts + phone! When the year was up, decided to stay will them as they offered me a contract of £4.00 pm for same deal - excellent value - hardly ever go over that too, only this is coming to an end so was looking for new deals as I have no Xnetwork mins and rest of family are on Orange but if I can stay with them I will as I just text them and they ring me - that way they clock off their mins and I don't get charged. Good Money Saving for me :rotfl:

I think one shop assistant has made a mistake. I can imagine that the customer would agree to the contract being extended on the same terms as before, but the shop should have realised that one didn't qualify.

Maybe you should try the same shop, or see what your friend's bill says in a month's time ... Orange made a mistake about allowing new phones on OVP Virgin, so who knows ...
