PPI Reclaiming discussion Part III

Hi marshallka, thanks for replying. I still have my Egg loan which currently stands at £10,000ish, so now with the PPI reclaim this will now be reduced to £8600ish. I'm currently paying £250 a month which is now due to end in Sep 2011.0

I'm trying to keep busy today. I have still heard nothing back from Tesco and don't want to ring them up incase I say something bad. Do you think my sending them a copy of the letter that I got from the FOS will have helped my case.0 -

Hi!
I'm new here, so please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place or repeating something that has already been asked. If either apply could some point me in the right direction?
Anyway, my husband is currently trying to reclaim his PPI from Lloyds TSB. We have written the first letter outlining that he believes it was missold because he was (and still is) self-employed at the time of taking it out and that the salesperson led him to believe it would make his application stronger.
He has had a decline letter today, which in a very long winded fashion basically says he was not missold it because Lloyds did training with their staff and he signed an Acknowledgement of Purchase form which clearly stated what he was and was not covered for and gave a 30 day cancellation period. The letter is 6 pages long!
Should we send the 2nd stage letter which basically just states that we're not happy with the response? Or do we not have a case?
Any advice would be very welcome. I persuaded hubby to do this ourselves rather than using a company to do it and paying money for it, so I feel a bit responsible for getting a decent outcome.
Thanks in advance,
Olivia
Is your only reason being self employed though..?? Sometimes its best to add any other reasons too as they could argue that you are covered for self employment. You say that they told him he would have more chance getting the loan with the PPI. This is another reason too.
You really should not need to use a company as this is something you can do for yourself. What date was the loan taken out?0 -

Welcome to the club, have you checked their letter for contradictions & mistakes? I bet you can find some.
What reason did they give for rejecting your complaint?0 -
Incipience wrote: »Olivia, you can of course fight this yourself, however the standard letters are white noise to the firms now. You should really put things down in your own words.
As a point of reference their are companies that will fight for you by means of an insurance policy.
What this basically means is that the lawyers take out a policy that will cover the costs of litigation win or lose.
Thanks for the reply. Is the "you signed an acknowledgement of purchase" justification of decline though? I'm struggling a bit to think of a response to it. My husband is not very good at reading information and when he took out the loans would have just signed. Does anyone have any suggestions for responses to the "terms and conditions" arguement that have worked? Hubby wanted to use one of the firms that do the reclaiming for you then take the interest or a percentage of the refund. His arguement was that it'd be done for him, but my arguement was we would lose nearly a thousand pound! I;m not sure I have the skills to win this one on my own :O(0 -

I need a list of excuses that FIRSTPLUS have given, for the hall of fame and to compile a list of arguments.0 -
