  • Should they not have made sure that I required this policy and that it was suitable for my needs. I think I will ring the ombudsman for advice. Will be back soon

I thought that under FSA rules they should make sure that the product was suitable for the customer's circumstances?

When you complete your FOS forms, make sure that you present your case as strongly as possible, if you ring up for them they will partially fill them in for you & then email them.

Showergirl did they recommend that you take the PPI. Sorry if you have posted already am not up to scratch on your complaint.

  • Hi, was wondering if anyone could help?

I took out a loan with Blackhorse back in November 2006. I phoned yesterday to request a settlement figure as I wanted to get it paid off but found it quite high. I've found my copy of the agreement and I've signed in two places, one box for the agreement and one for Payment Protection Plan but I haven't ticked the box to say I want the PPP, because I didn't.

I've phoned Blackhorse and they tell me that their copy has been ticked but it wouldn't matter anyway as it's the signature that counts not ticking the box - is this right?

Also, I've cancelled the PPP with immediate effect but it turns out that this will only save me £2.96 a month as they tell me that it was a single premium. On the agreement the PPP is shown separately as been charged at £31.27 a month (total £1500.96 for 48 months). So to me this looks like I've been charged £1435 for the first two years and £65 for the last two - is this right???

I just wanted to know where I stood before I start writing to them.

    Thanks for you help.

It was like that here and we were always getting the next streets post and so on..... , the first part of the addresses are the same apart from where ours is "Street", there's is Road, next street to us, is "Close" behind us, "Gardens" on the other side..... .

Saying that the letters we are having now are those from early December and its the first time today its been earlier at 12 mid day, we have been getting post at 5pm maybe as late as 6 at times, and most of them are the neighbouring streets due to wrong mail.....

On times we don't get post for us for a week........ .

Hope you get something in the post soon hun, good news as well hopefully.;)

I'm getting fed up of being in limbo, I know that it is going to be a long job both with Tesco PF & M & S, but I just wish that they would get their fingers out.

I took a loan out with Northern Rock in 2006 and was told I had to take PPI or wouldn't get the loan. In 2007 my circumstances changed so I asked if I could extend the loan by 1 year and was made to take out and reapply for a 2nd loan, at a higher interest rate, with PPI.

I have since closed this loan account, but no longer have any paperwork for it, as I shred everything!

Can I still amke a claim against Northern Rock... especially as they have now been nationalised?

    Thanks

Right then... Northern Rock have got back to me pretty speedily and I now have a questionnaire about my PPI to complete and return within 14 days before they will look into my claims.

They want to know about the policy details... I only have the loan agreement documents adn that doesn't mention policy numbers for the PPI or the company it was through. I'm really confused what to put on it.

They also want to know if it is my forst PPI policy and what other policies I had in place when I took out the loan. Is this just with Northern Rock or ALL policies that I have had?

Cheers for your help in advance!

I have finally had a decision abck from Northern Rock toady. They are awarding me £199.53 + £17.06 interest @ 8% for the second loan as they have been able to listen to the telephone conversation that I had with the sales staff and agree that they, "...have fallen short of the high standard of service that you had a right to expect."

However for the first loan that I took they have said that there is no recording of the conversation and that their sales people work from a script that met the requirements at that time. They go on to say say that PPI is optional and that the final decision to take it is mine and that because I did not cancel the policy before the 30 day cooling off period and therefore there is no evidence that the policy was mis-sold. However, I vividly remember asking the sales rep if I HAD to take it out and I remember her telling me that without it, I wouldn't get the loan.

They say that this is their final response to my complaint... should I accept it?
    Northern Rock PPI - £199.53 + £17.06 interest - Settled in full 16.01.09
Capital One - £304 + £60 interest - Court Form submitted & deemed served to Capital One 12.05.09
    Lloyds TSB CC - £524 + £136 interest - Settled for £921.33 13.05.09!!!
Lloyds TSB CA - £1778 + £387.50 interest - On hold due to test case - letter before action sent
