    Hi there,

I just rang up A & L about a separte issue to do with my savings accoutn which they sorted but then the customer service rep asked if I wanted to get a better interest rate on the loan I took out with them. I said I was currently in dispute with A & L about this and left ti at that. she sounded very well versed and didn;t want to gte into it further with her as it's recorded. Shoudl i call back and negotiate a lower inetrest rate on the loan??? Or will effect my claim? thanks again you atre ALL so helpful I love this forum :j
I would make all communication in writing to them. Its sounds to me like they were trying a negotiation of some sort perhaps.

Hello again, the Alliance and Leicester have replied to my first letter and have agreed to refund the full amount of PPI plus interest :T .

I've got to say i'm extremely surprised as i was expecting a long wait for any compensation, I've only had to wait 2 weeks though:D

Good luck to anyone still trying .

Lets hope Egg can come through with the goods as well:cool:

    Seb'.
Well done to you Seb, that is so quick...

Just Egg to go and hope they do the same for you;)

    Hi all,
Quote me if im wrong but arn't they supposed to inform you its being recorded and ask if your ok with it?

    And di,
Sent my sars off yesterday, ive checked and it got to their HQ this morn so here goes a bumpy ride:beer:
Usually it says "this phone call may be recorded for training purposes" at the beginning of the call probably before you get through to anyone.

    Hi

We took out a loan with the RBS a few years ago but refinanced a new loan in 2006 to consolidate new debts. On both loans we had PPI as we did not know it was optional and it was never discussed that it was optional.
We decised to call them last week to ask how much of the loan was PPI as, like most people, we wanted less outgoings. As I was covered and I am least likely to be made redundant etc I thought it would be easier to cancel PPI. Found out it was £81 a month but was told by RBS that it was my wife being covered and not me, which was strange as I am always covered on any finance as my wife has an illness that she struggles to get insurance for.
Anyway, we are waiting for the RBS to come back to us in the morning as they are referring it as a complaint and the 'supervisor' is assessing.
We may get a yes or no in the morning as regards mis selling, but if we can can we claim PPI on the previous loan too.
We certainly thought it was compulsory and only found out it wasn't on this website. We will be paying back £38,000.00 with loan and PPI so I am a bit peeved that this was not discussed at both loan discussions with bank.
    Any advise would be great.
How long ago were the two loans??

Was your wife the higher earner for her to be covered first and not yourself as that is the usual case with them.

Also have you actually cancelled the insurance now and did you have to get the loan redone. Have you sent out a letter of complaint for the misselling yet??

write to RBS using the template letters say it was miss sold it was not presented as fully optional. They will say they didnt miss sell etc but keep writing the letters. once the 8weeks are up/ you have a final response put a complaint in with the ombudsman. This is what i did about 2month ago. The ombudsman must notify RBS they have a pending complint because i got a letter from the ombudsman just before christmas saying RBS wanted to offer ahem 'as a goodwill gesture" full refund of all premiums paid, full refund of all interest applied plus 8% statutory interest from the date the ppi installement was taken to the date i get the cheque refund. YIPEEE stick in there RBS will cave!!!!
MY Successes = RBS PPI, RBS bank charges, Aqua PPI, Aqua cc charges, HFC PPI, Welcome Finance PPI, Blackhorse PPI Mums Ongoing= Swift Advances PPI, London Scottish PPI, Blackhorse chgs, GE money pyts missing
:rotfl:Im Feeling fine Debt free 2009!
