Going back tp the phone calls, i seem to think that if they dont ask you or tell you its being recorded, then they cant use this info against you.

Hi
We took out a loan with the RBS a few years ago but refinanced a new loan in 2006 to consolidate new debts. On both loans we had PPI as we did not know it was optional and it was never discussed that it was optional.
We decised to call them last week to ask how much of the loan was PPI as, like most people, we wanted less outgoings. As I was covered and I am least likely to be made redundant etc I thought it would be easier to cancel PPI. Found out it was £81 a month but was told by RBS that it was my wife being covered and not me, which was strange as I am always covered on any finance as my wife has an illness that she struggles to get insurance for.
Anyway, we are waiting for the RBS to come back to us in the morning as they are referring it as a complaint and the 'supervisor' is assessing.
We may get a yes or no in the morning as regards mis selling, but if we can can we claim PPI on the previous loan too.
We certainly thought it was compulsory and only found out it wasn't on this website. We will be paying back £38,000.00 with loan and PPI so I am a bit peeved that this was not discussed at both loan discussions with bank.
Any advise would be great.
Hi there and welcome,;)
Blimey what have they done here?
And I take it your the main earner?
Besides they should have checked each time of the sale of the loan if you or your wife would be eligible for this.
Right then hun, please check this link out here and complain and reclaim:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
There is some useful PPI info on that added link and a template letter you can use, write to them by adding your own reasons, also mention what you have added in your post, give as much info as possible to support your complaint.
They have 8 full weeks to respond, if you let us know the outcome of their response we can help move on to the next step if required.
Post by recorded delivery for your proof of posting and you can check to make sure it reaches them on the royal mail tracking website.
Good luck
Di

Hi Showergirl,
fiistly my complaint was sent to Glasgow and i had a case officer called Alice Lyndness, she then passed this to the team in Birmingham and i was appointed Chris monosyllabic!!!lol he is so unhelpful and when i called yesterday he told me to go to the fos, so im guessing the letter landing on my doorstep this week is a big fat NO......time for a fight
Will let you know of any progress0 -

Well lets hope that something useful regarding phone calls come back within the SAR.;)
With an SAR of mine, we received a disc recording and on another it was a written transcript, so you should have something to back your case, fingers crossed.;) xThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
