Did you see my post about your egg agreement Bathgatebuyer?

Not yet - trying to have a catch up after an overnight stay back at my Mammys. This place moves so fast I can hardly remember if I wrote about Egg a few days back or when! :o
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

    Hi
My husband has PPI on his credit card and we received a response today after the first template letter sent. They do not believe he has been missold and have attached a copy of a database print out with all his details on. The print out states it was an internet application and just says payment protection insurance, it does not say that this was requested by him there are no ticks etc it merely states it is attached to his card. They also stated he was sent a copy of the terms and conditions. Should we now ask for proof of him requesting this? What is the best way forward? The card dates back to 2002, is anyone aware whether Egg had a preticked opt box at this tim?

    Thanks guys.

Had exactly the same response from them myself a few days ago. I did receive a copy of my agreement and in it, it does mention insurance cover. They said in their letter that the cover was opt in, not opt out, although it's their word for it and I will be writing to them again.

In 1999 I had cancer, so this type of cover is generally superfluous for me, hence I don't take it out unless I specifically see the t & cs telling me that it would cover me despite my medical history.

I very much doubt it there maxdp... I an hear him now saying that you got yourself into this mess and you make your bed and lie in it...:o .

I was proud of him though being my dad but just wish I could have had time to have been a better daughter and not a teenage little sh*t...:o .

I wish I could have my time again.

Your dad would have loved you whatever. I know when my kids our horrid it makes no difference to my feelings for them I dislike their language or behaviour at times but I love them. If anybody hurt them in any way I am ruthless and will not rest till it is sorted.

I believe that children are not ours per se but are lent to us to look after for a little while, we do our best and give them as many skills in life that we can so that they can make their way in life. We all make mistakes, but we learn from these and make us the people we are now.

I am sure he will be up there looking down thinking, "thats my girl" and would be proud of your relentless pursuit to get what is yours as well as help out others. That is in addition to your home life.:D

  • I was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me here. I took out an Egg credit card when I was a student in 2004, think I applied for it on-line. I took out the PPI at the time - not sure why, one of many stupid decisions I've made with money over the last few years - and cancelled around 8 months ago.

I was only contracted for 10 hours a week work at the time, although I was probably working more than 16 hours in reality. I did not start contracted work over 16 hours a week until Jan 06. Does anyone think I may be able to claim for mis-selling. I'm not sure if the box was auto-ticked on my web application.

I still have the egg card, looking to get rid in the new year when I finally try to get all my debts sorted out. Would a claim for PPI refund cause egg to spit there dummy out and cancel the agreeement?

I don't know how this would work out as you were most probably covered as you did work for 16 hours even if only contracted to 10 and you actually said you wanted it so they may argue this one... .
