Morning there di
Well todays the crunch Day... Apart from a letter from HFC bank about 4 weeks ago saying they are looking into the claim I have heard nothing. I have got Letter No. 2 Printed, in the envelope with a copy of letter no.1. If I haven't had anything in the post today I will be trotting down to the post office to send this recorded delivery.
Question is, if I haven't heard anything within 14 days, I will be away at a family get together (festive period). Should I hold off contacting the FO until I get back on the Second Jan?
Hi there amtrakuk
Hope your well.;)
As soon as they have had the full 8 weeks whether you have heard nothing or not, I would then move onto the Financial Ombudsman service, as they were given the required time..if of course as well you did hear and not successful.
Please remind me hun what date did they receive your first letter, or what was the date on the letter, I can then work out the 8 weeks and take it from there.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi there di..
Suffering with man flu at the mo ;(
1st letter was sent on the 21st Oct, got a reply back the next day.
"Further to your recent complaint.
I write to advise that at the present time we have been unable to resolve the issue raised to your satisfaction.
I hope that your complaint can be resolved soon and will contact you again shortly.
Yours sincerely."
Their letter was dated 21st October! Haven't heard a bean from them since. nor I have been in contact with them.
I calculated the 16th (today) as being 8 weeks from the day I sent the first letter.0 -
Right if you are saying you was missold the insurance then you can make a complaint. Also if you recieved no rebate against this when you settled that is unfair too.
Just take a look at the link here and see what you can add and delete from the template letter. Its always best to do your own from this. There are lots of reason on there for the misselling so pick out the ones that are applicable to yours.
You then write to the firm that actually made the sale of the PPI to you if this is different from the lender and don't forget to send this recorded delivery so you always a proof and dates etc.
After that you have to give them 8 weeks for a full and final response. In this time it is usual to get a response of "sorry we sold this to you fairly" but you then respond to this and reiterate your complaint again. The next time they write they either give you a final response which you would need in order to take this complaint to the FOS or offer to settle.

Good luck
Thank you for clearing this up for me. I will look at the letter templates.
Thank you all for your help and i'm afraid i agree with you all, yes its sad ppl are losing jobs because of the current climate but why should we be unfairly charged/not rebated so the banks can keep a bigger profit? We work to keep a roof over our own families heads not the bank managers  And with an 8wk old little girl and poor maternity pay i think i would rather the money was in my bank0 -
Sorry... Just gone though my paperwork and found a letter from 19th November.
"I am writing in reference to your complaint.
At the present time, we have been unable to resolve your complaint, as this investigation is yet to be concluded. As soon as all the information has been gathered and the investigation has been completed, a full response will be issued in writing.
I would like to take this opportunity to apologise on behalf of the bank for the delay in responding to the complaint and assure you of our best intentions at all times. I am also obliged to advise you of your rights to refer the complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service however I do hope that you will not find this course of action necessary.
Yours sincerely."
Since then have heard nothing.0 -

Hi there hun
Sorry to hear your not well either........, lots are coming down with different things and with xmas approaching us, lets hope these horrible viruses disappear.
Get well soon.;) :A
Right then hun, get a FOS complaint form prepared and filled in now if you want to, it seems to me they are stalling this, so as its still 8 weeks, they have had ample time to look at this.
You can either ring the FOS to request for a hardcopy of the form through the post or download one from the FOS site here:
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
Enclose copies of any correspondence and also add on the form that the business had 8 weeks to respond in full to the complaint but as 8 weeks have now passed and I have heard nothing I would like the Financial Ombudsman Service to investigate the complaint for me.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

lol, nope that was just the PPI hun and yes the added interest plus the 8% of what a court would award.;)
Yep the loan was £54K and that's without the PPI, so don't go down that road, I will never do that again......:o .
What you should try is fresh lemons in a jug, boil up some hot water, once boiled pour into the jug into the sliced lemons, add a few tablespoons of honey, and some crushed garlic cloves, or if you rather hot clear lemonade instead of boiling water use that instead, works a treat to sweat out this horrible flu......:D Get better very soon.:A
Good luck with the form hun and if you require further info just give us a yell.

I'm sorry you've lost your job - been there and it was a horrible experience for me and I would not wish it on anyone. It certainly is not made any easier by firms who only pay out on roughly 14% of PPI policies. Unfortunately for me, I found that out to my cost - the firm who advised me that I was eligible for cover then renaged on that was I was made redundant.
However, two wrongs do not make a right. Bear in mind that the OFT and the FSA have taken action on those organisations who have fell foul of the regulations which govern the sale of financial products - such action they would not have taken unless they felt sufficiently strongly that there had been wrongdoing. Had banks followed these protocols established in the first place to ensure fair trading in respect of insurance sales, none of this would be necessary. Is it the fault of those trying to rightly get the money back which firms deceived them into taking (which the OFT and FSA acknowledge has happened and acknowledge was unlawful and inequitable) or should we just accept that we are victims?
It may be that many more people - including your colleagues - discover the true worth of their PPI policies in the present financial climate, so a demand for information and assistance such as that found on here may increase immeasurably.
I sympathise with you losing your job, really I do. Being out of work is my worst fear given that I have experienced it before, but the PPI cover I had should have covered me. However, do not blame an individual for trying to right the wrongs of the firms who sold them the products in the firstplace - blame those firms who sought to profit from unfair and deceitful business practices.
Again, I'm sorry you and your colleagues have been made redundant - the majority of people only find out how worthless their PPI cover is at desperate times like many find themselves in at the moment. And like us, you may find that the thousands of pounds you paid to your bank thinking you had adequate protection may be worth absolutely nothing. I hope you are one of the lucky ones who receives the pay out that they are entitled to. If not, there are plenty of supportive, helpful, considered, non-judgemental and experienced people on here who will gladly offer any support and assistance you need to help you and your colleagues through what can inevitably be a taxing, difficult time.
(P.S. Not that it's important, but I've got a BSc, MSc, PG Dip, MBA and membership of 2 professional bodies if anyone asks!)Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
