Is that right? I have a case in 2003 that the company say was non advised?

I wonder where I can get clarification.
Bespoke wrote that to me about mine of 2000 and singlep replied it was rubbish as non advised sales of the PPI did not exist prior to 2005 and were introduced much later in GIB...;) .

It was simply that the firms did not have adequate training then to give a non advised sale of the PPI so ALL sales were advised really although they say non advised. (we strongly recommend you have this is enough to be advised or you cannot have the loan without it!!)
  • Hi everybody

I was just wondering if anybody has recently had experience of dealing with Nationwide?

OH had a loan with them and we have sent the 2 letters and we received their 'no, we're not refunding you' letter yesterday. Their main justification is that OH signed the forms confirming the loan and that it mentioned the PPI was able to be cancelled. We don't see this as the point, as he was told over the phone he simply wouldn't have the loan without the PPI, and he needed the loan.

We're therefore going to the Financial Ombudsman.

I realise there's a 2/3 chance of being successful and obviously we'd like to be one of the successful ones!! I just wondered whether anybody had recently had any successes with Nationwide after going to the Ombudsman?

    With many thanks in advance.

    Hi marshallka

Thank you very much for your reply.

I did do this already, but there really aren't many posts for Nationwide in either of the 3 parts of the discussion boards and there haven't been many at all recently, which is why I'd asked.

No worries though - just thought it was worth asking in case there were any 'lurkers'!

    Thanks again.

Why would they need more training for a non advised sale?

    Hi Pinknico

Cause they need to have a knowledge of a range of insurances and information so that they can give this to the consumer so that they make their own mind up.

Advised sale is selling their own product and recommending it to you. Or advising you on health issues.:o
