    Are you going after FIRSTPLUS??
I did and went through the FOS with my complaint and got a refund over 17k in july this year it took about 8 months and it took one adjudicator.
give me a shout if you need anything.
good luck with your claims I have a hit list too which I am working on.

  • Ahhhhhh got my first letter from GE Money regarding claim on one account! They have asked for evidence to back up that I was unemployed.......I have a letter from the university to state I was a fulltime student so thats good :-) Plus they sent me a copy of my credit agreement to back up tgeir reasoning for not refunding my insurance. On the policy it has three statements for the applicant to tick which are:

    1. I am aged 18 or over
    2. I have lived in the UK for over 12 months
    3. My partner or myself are in permanent paid employment (min 16 hours per week), self employed or in reciept of incapacity allowance.

All 3 statements are unticked so surely they should have queried this with me! Oh the have my blood boiling :-( Is this looking positive so far people?

So now you write back again stating you were a full time student and totally unemployed and then wait for their final response. You could also add about the things left unticked too.

Let us know how you get on. Don't give them another 8 weeks though, just give them the time of whatever is left between your first complaint date and 8 weeks. Also send it recorded delivery too.

    Good luck

HSBC is upholding my complaint! £2,800! Just got a call to let me know - can't believe it! I'll post in the successes thread once I've read through the paperwork. I can't stop smiling!
  • I took out a secured loan with firstplus a number of years ago and took out PPI with it although it wouldnt have covered me had i made a claim as i had pre-existing medical conditions. The PPI was £10k and was added to the loan upfront. I repaid the loan after 30 months and still owed £8k more than the original loan. I wrote to them and they said they had refunded me £236 at the time so they wouldnt consider my complaint. I wrote again and have received a letter today with their final decision offering me £2988 with the option to go the FOS if i was not satisfied. I rang FOS and firstplus were not covered by them at the time so they cant help. What next? do I accept their offer? or are there other avenues I can try????

When did you take this loan out Carrie cee??

Firstplus were members of the GISC in November 2001 so if the loan was after then then you should be able to take this to the FOS.

Also, did you use a broker or straight through Firstplus when you took it out??
