I was young and naive, they didn't even tell me that they had included insurance on the loan. I was in and out of the branch within about 10mins, how am I expected to prove that this is the case though, if all of the dealings were face to face ?

The letter that you have sent, have you stated your reasons for why you believe you were mis-sold the ppi? If this is the case they should come back with either the reason why "you were not mis-sold" or the reasons "why you were".

I think what they may send back is a standard fob off letter stating you signed you agreed.

Think its better to wait and see what they come back with first before going any further.

I'm sure there was another poster who was in the same position, can't be sure but think it was a loan through halifax at the branch.

Keep us posted with their reply

    Hi,

I'm relatively new to the site and after checking through my paperwork I've realised that I was mis-sold insurance on a £8000 loan I took out in December 2002, the last payment was in April 2006.

Will the fact that it was so long ago affect my claim?

I've sent the 1st letter today by recorded delivery.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark
Who was the loan taken out with hunni?

We can check to see if they were covered/regulated by GISC, as from Jan 2005 the FSA taken over, and not all finance companies were covered until then of Jan 2005 and after, just in case a complaint does not work out or go in your favour - for it to be passed on to the Financial ombudsman service they would have to have been covered, but there are other ways around this.;)

Oh and welcome to this thread.

I see our dreamer has also answered some questions for you here too.;)

    Hi there

I am not sure if I can reclaim PPI for a Loan that went to Blair Oliver & Scott in 2006 as I was unable to repay the monthly instalments.

The PPI (ASU cover) was arranged by Pinnacle Insurance, the loan is from Intelligence Finance.

I don't have the original papers but just the Policy Number. In 2006 I contacted a Debt Management Company and they arranged with BOS for an arranged payment. At that time, in June 06, they suggested me I stopped paying insurance on the Loan because it was not necessary any longer, given the fact that the account was in the hands of BOS.

My Loan and subsequent ASU cover (PPI) was arranged by an Independent Financial Mortgage Broker that was a con man. He had arranged for me insurance on every loan I had and every mortgage I had, with the following companies: Pinnacle Insurance (for IF loan), Optima Financial, Scottish Provider, Friends Provident. I don't even have any original paperwork for any of these, only for the Pinnacle Insurance one.

My question is: can I claim PPI if the policy was arranged by someone else? I was really conned into it. I read your First Stage standand letter but it seems nothing applied to me.

What to do? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

    Elena

    Hi there
I see our dreamer has posted a SAR for you this is known as a Subject access request, you make a £10 cheque payment or postal order for the SAR, then you receive everything they have on you, which may also include emails, phone call recordings if any etc.
Always post by recorded delivery as they have 40 days to comply everything to you.

Just by having the agreement may help and maybe any copy of written breakdown of calculations, for the agreement contact them and ask them for a copy and they should supply this for you either free of charge or maybe a £1 charge for this only, but figure wise ask them to post them too.;)

We will take it from there hun.

    Good luck.

  • Dear All,

Quick question from a first time user, so be gentle with me.

I took out a bank loan of about £183,000 in 2003 on a 14 year term. One condition was that I had to arrange assignation of term assurance on my life for the period of the facility to include critical illness cover and permanent health cover. Does this constitute payment protection insurance? Can I claim this back?

    Thanks

I bought two sofas from DFS in October 2004 & took out PPI.

I wrote to them last Saturday to say I had been mis sold the PPI as I had an existing medical condition & also already had insurance through my job.

Got a phone call today from DFS head office today stating that no way had the PPI been mis sold.

Has anyone else had this reaction?

    Hi

I have not dealt with them, but like with anyone else I would not let this fob off put you off.

Was this the final decision, and did they recommend the financial ombudsman service, with an enclosed leaflet?

If so then best get a complaint in with the FOS here:
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm

There are links to a complaint for on the above link, or you could contact the FOS to request a form.

If DFS have not mentioned the FOS, write back to tell them your not happy with their response, and if they do not reconsider you will have no option but to complain to the Financial ombudsman service.

Keep us posted hun and do not give up. and we will take it from there.;)

    Hello Di,

The loan was taken out with Halifax, and by the look of the paperwork I paid over £1500 for insurance over 3yrs.

    Hi and welcome.
Its seems you have grounds for complaint.

Who did you take the loan out with ?
We can check to see if they were covered by GISC etc, just in case this has to go further if unsuccessful in reclaiming, but there are ways round this.;)

Check this link below, where you will find some useful information, there is also a template you can use but add your own reasons.

They have 8 weeks to respond, post by recording delivery, let us know the outcome and we can take it from there.;)

If you require more help, please post anytime, your very welcome.

Good luck, of you can just let me know who the loan was with (who it was arranged by, the broker for example) that will be cool.

Brilliant, you will have no problem then if this has to go to the FOS.;)
These were covered when you had taken this out then, good news that.

And not to forget you can claim 8% of interest on top of that also.
