Thanks for your pm back Thomo937

I note that you said it was Freedom Finance who arranged this loan for you hun, so its them you should write to, sorry to say as I know you have already been getting on with this.

Now I know others on here have issues with Freedom Finance and I also note you said 2004, I will have to check this out but not sure if these were regulated by GISC at that time before the FSA came in, this means if they were and this went as far as the financial ombudsman service that they will be able to investigate this, but not otherwise.

    Hopefully someone will confirm this.

Has the loan been settled with Eneavour though ?
    If so, when ?
If this is settled and you think the rebate was unfair and too low, there is another way around this, like myself I am now pursuing this through Hamilton the insurers, as mine was also in 2004, but settled 24 yrs earlier in 2005.;)
Freedom were not under anyone til 2005 and not members of the GISC either.
  • I paid the loan off in full after 2 years(originally took out over 10. All PPI front loaded etc). It cost me 25% more than originally I loaned.
I am in the process of reclaiming back what is rightfully mine. Being missold and blatantly coerced into something that is not in your best interests, stinks to high heaven.
  • I've made a claim against Egg. I applied for a loan in 2001, and when i called to be talked through it i was told i had to take PPI otherwise the loan would be refused. Being young, and niave a thought nothing of it.

to make it worse it was a single premium policy. so i ended up paying an extra £850 (approx) on top of a loan.

I've spoken to them over the phone to make sure they had received it and to give them my updated contact numbers. They confirmed they received it on the 27th. so i'm now stuck waiting on them to decide to pay up or not.

The 8% interest, can i claim that for each year thats past (i.e 8% x 7)???

Anyone had much luck with Egg. I'm hoping they do pay out, because £937 would be nice just before Christmas.

    Good for you hun.
But if you write to the brokers (FF) who arranged this for you, its worth a try, but despite that write about the unfair rebate to the insurers who were under voluntary jurisdiction where the Financial ombudsman will be able to investigate on this one.

Here is the address of the insurers here:

    Hamilton Insurance Company Limited
    NUI Customer Relations Manager
    PO BOX 78
    Surrey Street
    Norwich
    NR1 3NU

If you add your loan calculations here, the loan and ppi, the date of the loan and when you settled, this can be looked at for you.;)

Have you written to Freedom yet?

If they are the same insurers Di..

Some are different due to different lenders/brokers..

I would ask thomo937 to check the paperwork to see if they are the same first.. and also pursue Freedom for the PPI back in full first.

    Hi Marcus
Yes I see what you mean hun.

When you request for the premiums to be paid back you also recommend that they pay back 8% of what a court would award you, then if this is done, they should put you back in the position as if you did not have the PPI in the first place.;)

If you check on the ppi success forums which is normally next to this one, you may find some successes there.

Good luck with yours, and it would be lovely for you to get that back in time for Christmas.;)

It was taken out in 2004 like mine, and I think they are still with these.;)
Best if Thomo checked the back of the agreement/paperwork first to be sure.

Mine was all Endeavour paperwork and not the broker where Endeavour tend to use Hamilton/Norwich union.

If they decide against this (as some do) then they usually send out another letter for you to reply to again. After this is usually a final response. If the final response is not in your favour I believe you can take this complaint to the FOS as Egg were a bank and come under jurisdiction of the FOS..

I would not write any figures on your letters, just add that you request the monies back with 8% statutory interest as a court would award.

Let us know how you get on.
  • No rebate, from either, thats why I have taken it further. Hopefully as its gone to solicitors they will realise there mistakes. Thanks for the additional info from you all.
