Parking Ticket - Advice Please

Well were you causing an obstruction? By that I don't mean a couple of cars waiting but had you backed up the whole street? If so I think they were justified in telling you to move.
In the circumstances I very much doubt you are going to win this one. You werre issued with an instruction which you chose to ignore because you didn't like being shouted at and dug your heals in.
If someone is doing something perceived as dangerous or reckless then the officer will issue orders and not requests.
Guess you have never been in the army, then you would know what being shouted at is all about...lol.0 -
So PCSO's have the power to order you to move? At least by reading this pathetic attempt by the OP to get out of paying for his crime you have learnt something!
Yes they do have the power to direct traffic. (And as the OP discovered, raise their voice if needed and issue tickets!)0 -
I just wanted to clear up what you meant by "double parked"? To me, double parked means parking on double yellows, but you said that you weren't parked on double yellows. So where were you in relation to road/other traffic?0

And yes, FYI if I can get out of paying this ticket, I willClick here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

You seem pretty reasonable so I'll explain to you, I was on a dual carriageway I noticed someone waiting to pull out of a designated parking lay-by, I stopped to allow her out, so I could enter the space.
Thus holding up traffic in that lane? Where would the person leaving the parking space be able to go if you were sitting there blocking the way in the flow of traffic??0 -

That does sound reasonable, but how long did you have to wait? The 5 seconds it takes to leave a space would make the PCSO a bit of a jobsworth, any longer and you were probably holding others up and causing a dangerous obstruction on the dual carriagway

Honestly OP, the ticket sounds completely justified given your description of events.
On the most basic points, you were causing a dangerous obstruction to traffic and when repeatedly asked to move, became pugnacious and created even more of a problem than you already were.
Clearly you weren't just waiting a few moments, as you've already stated there was another vehicle that had been waiting longer. Thus not only should you not have stopped as you did knowing that another vehicle was already waiting and causing an obstuction, but by getting in behind it you were essentially creating a queue and thus even greater obstruction to traffic. Essentially you knowingly made the obstruction worse and more problematic.
As for the other vehicle - that's largely irrelevant. You commited the offence and were creating an obstruction. Someone else also doing it doesn't absolve you of your own actions.
That aside, if your attitude towards posters in this thread is anything to go by (rude and dismissive to anything but what you want to hear), you most likely left the PCSO no other choice but to ticket you in order to address the situation after he and his colleague had given you multiple chances to avoid such a penalty. You were creating an obstruction to traffic, you were given the chance to move and repeatedly chose not to - "willful obstruction" would be entirely accurate and you'd be hard pressed to argue against it even by your own account of the events.0
