Good afternoon: Just received the latest gas and electricity bill today....
Gas for 84 days 3428.46 kWh
Electricity for 84 days 634 kWh

    We have a:
    -30 kW condensing gas combi,
-5 ring gas hob, single electric fan oven (A rated),
-full size frost free fridge/freezer(B rated)
-wash 8 loads of laundry/week(AAB rated ,but dry it in our full size gas dryer in this weather which is on LPG... therefore no clothes drying in the house hanging up or draped over the rads:eek:),
-270 mm loft insulation, cavity wall insulation
-double glazing (12 mm air gap)
    -4 showers/day off combi
-programmable roomstat at 19-20 when we are in, 17.5 overnight and when we are out (rarely comes on)
-energy saving bulbs in all fixtures bar the cooker hood
    -nothing left on standby.
    - 2 bed bungaloid;)

  • Just got my gas bill from Oct 16 2008 to Jan 17 2009.

I used 517 metric units over the 91 days (5767 kWhs) - total cost £236.55.

I live in a 3 bed double glazed semi, c1930 with wall and loft insulation. Gas hob, gas CH with gas fire in living room.

Unfortunately, as it now turns out, signed up for Fixed price 2011 a few months ago. Have radiators switched off in front room. Mainly shower rather than bath.
  • Ive just got a gas bill for 6 days worth of gas using 498kwh (45 metric units) totalling £19.67.

I live in a 2 bed terraced, have our heating on for an hour or so in the morning and a few hours in the evening and tend to live in hoodies and blankets at all other times.

Looking at previous posts this looks about right, is this about right?!! Like Victor Meldrew once said, I don't beleive it!

Gas is only used for hot water once a day and heating on from October to Feb/March

More or less same as us. Family of six in 3 bed mid terrace on three floors. We like it warm and someone home most of the day. We pay £150 a month, but hoping it'll go down a few quid after the winter. It was set a bit high because we switched after the summer. We are, therefore, still in credit by rather more than £39.
  • Ive just had my gas bill and it says ive used 139 units which i think is high as this time last year i only used 55 units! I live on my own in a one bedded flat and the heating is only on about 4 hours a day. Does 139 unitis seem high?(this is for 3 months)

    139 imperial units = approx 4309kwh = 47kwh a day

Doesn't seem high today. Did both bills have accurate (A) start and finish readings? It has been very cold. Four hours of heating when it's below freezing uses far more gas than the same heating when it's milder.
  • all are actual readings, not estimates. Just thought it was a bit strange that at the same time last year I used 55 units(think its Nov-Jan), but this year (nov - jan)ive used 139.

We're high users but we used a lot more units every day in January than we're using now. Our total this quarter will be higher than it would have been if we'd had last year's weather. Coldest week we used 31 imperial units, 19 last week - our lowest since November. I think most weeks this winter have been colder than last year.
