  • Thanks all!

You have put my mind at some ease now, i guess with the advent of christmas and current offers they are just slow to reply to orders.  I will give it a couple more days and then telephone myself.  I dont know if it was this thread or the other current dell thread, but someone posted about the prices in the public/business sector are not too disimilar to the home/office sector.  Intregued I configured a similar system to the one i ordered for £306 and it totalled £586!  Although the latter did have a promotional 'freebie' so i guess its worth almost paying double!  Spursfan I am sure if you were to contact dell your postcode would be sufficient for them to retrieve any details they have of you on the computer, I am sure many people lose or do not note down the IR.

I too am waiting for my confirmation but have to give it more time as I only ordered yesterday! I too went to small businesses, public sector etc. to find anything cheaper or equivalent and only found more expensive! I want to change my order though and am hoping they will respond to my email before despatch!!!!!!!

    Good luck!

    Hi Escapee,

It was me that mentioned about the systems being available through the normal channels at similar prices. It was certainly so, with the 8400. I am surprised it made such a difference to your system. The only thing I can think of is the VAT and delivery charges. Could you post the spec please 'cos I'm curious now.

If you want to change/cancel the order I suggest you call them. Otherwise order another one and sell the first one (just don't broadcast the fact that you put it on ebay and made a nice profit cos it upsets people)

Spoke to DELL this morning as I hadn't received anything by email. They told me my order had been cancelled as the CC didn't pass the credit check (bull5h!t)

They couldn't amend the order, so suggested I start again. Guess what....... yup, it's been pulled from the system >:(

  • :o :-/ are you sure?

...cos I just ordered D1242! Dell emailed me to say I couldnt change specs, just cancel and re-order.

I went via the link posted by the chef (?) on page 1 of this thread.

    hth!
  • People mentionning medium/large business part - is it OK to order from the Small business (1upwards) part of the site ?

This is what we are unsure of Mark, we are just hoping the orders are honoured, i cannot see what difference it makes we still pay VAT on the goods it is not as if the goods on the business sector are VAT exempt. Santa claus above post has made me very worried now to the point that i am nervous to contact them incase they burst my bubble lol.

The spec of the £306 machine is:

    Dell 3000

    2.6 celeron processor
    256mb Dual Channel Ram
    80gig HD
    15 TFT monitor
    Keyboard, Mouse
    Dell Speakers
    DVD Combi Drive

The price was similar on the home/office sector until you changed the monitor from crt to tft then the price jumped by around £150!

I don't know about the £163 deals, but they were happy enough to honour my £306 PC order. I did keep a note of the Internet Receipt no, and I did telephone the medium/large bus helpline to check. The guy told me it was held up, because I was showing on their system as a small business, but he would transfer it across. Good as his word (see below). HTH
