Imperial Leather soap is normally £1.48 or more for four bars in the supermarkets - you know the Poundland price..:-) Sometimes it's the six bar special offer pack.

Odour eliminators are another good buy such as Oust, currently £1.68 at Tesco (used to be £1.28), although Wilkinson was selling it at 79p recently; I bought six aerosols.

  • Found 5 metre network cables in the pound shop this week, so they now seem to do most of the computer cabling you need. Still waiting for a monitor cable though.

The other cheap shops such as B&M/Quality Save/Home Bargains/Wilkinsons are always worth a look for good sub-pound stuff too. I recently found ten twin blade disposable razors for 29p at Wilkinsons (3p a razor) - tried them out fine and then went back and stocked up on them.

Potter's Boldex in the 2 poundshops in Doncaster. Was retailing around the £7 mark in health shops a short while back. Not shortdated either. Also Abidec chewy omega 3 tablets for children which were about £4 elsewhere.

  • We are getting the occasional box of Compeed Cold Sore Plasters in at Poundland (£6ish in Boots). Grab em if you see em! Methinks they may be rare as hens teeth! We've also got Morgan make-up bags with an rrp of £4.99, great girlie stocking fillers for £1.00.

  • I think the best bargains are often the things you don't tend to think of too much... like a couple of other posters have said, parcel tape, padded envelopes etc. for packaging up ebay sales are a lot cheaper than woolies / staples etc... also we buy cheap tools - they don't last like better quality brands, but we loose / break so many, it is cheaper to buy £1 tools which you can almost consider disposable!

Door wedges were a good deal the other day, 15 on a card for £1 (duh!) - seen the same in independant hardware shop today when I went in for some varnish for £1.29 each, and I swear they are exactly the same - probably they got them from the £1 shop!

Cleaning stuff good too, some of the sprays and polishes aren't much good, but things like scouring sponges, cloths, dusters etc. good value compared to supermarkets.

So my advice is to check in often, and see whats in store... then stock up on things you use regularly that are an obvious bargain. Sometimes seems silly buying a years worth of scouring pads in one go, but if they are obviously about a third the price you normally pay, and you know you are going to use them, then its a good money saving!
In the probably unlikely event that I actually post something of use to someone, an ickle vote of thanks would be much appreciated, in fact I might frame it and put it up on the wall next to my cycling proficiency certificate :D
