I think I do need to have a good old stroll around my local, I only go in there and out for the stuff I know I need.
Shall report back with what I find :cool:0 -
I buy rechargable batteries. They're between £5-£10 but only a pound for 2 AA or AAA. And they work.
Also normal batteries for the kids toys at Christmas and for clocks.
I got a pack of ten recently.
Also nappy sacks by the hundreds and sandwich bags (3000!!!)
And cleaning stuff is a must.
I love Poundland and the 99p shop!!:T0 -
i bought 2 hot water bottles for £1. They both leaked. Woke up one morning to a wet bed. i was slightly relieved that it was the hwb and not me! i can always throw them away and buy more sturdy ones.:rotfl:0

Wow I love this thread - I've always been a fan of a bargain but this inspired me to investigate the new Poundland in Manchester.
Ended up spending £20 altogether yesterday but I got some great stuff including Rimmel and Revlon make up, a USB hub, 4 funky little gift bags, xmas cards, a 2009 diary, and some really nice 8x10 photo frames that I've been struggling to find cheaply anywhere else. I even bought some jewellery - long beaded necklaces - which make my normal Primark accessory finds at £2-£3 look overpriced!!
The only thing I wasn't impressed with were a bag of chocolate mis-shapes which are supposed to be a variety of brands and types but ended up all being toffees - not great as I'm in the process of having a root canal and can't chew anything too much for fear of ripping the temp filling out!
They also had some really nice xmas decorations in and some lovely looking home stuff - place mats & worktop protectors/chopping boards especially - but I had to stop somewhere! Oh and card making stuff but I was determined not to buy as I have boxes full already.0 -
i find that most pound shop stuff is 99p in the likes of Asda / Morrisons but alot of the stuff is cheaper, i got a pack 2 toaster bags to make toasted sandwiches which were £5 for 2 or £8 for 4 at morrisons
also USB Cables normally about £3/£4
Telephone Extensions and adapters normally about £5 at B&Q/Argos

These are often about £12-14 elsewhere. I have two different ones and they both work well.0

You've gotta love a pound shop, they bring out the creativity in you!
Snap lights at 10 for £1 make great bracelets for gigs, but since the tech was invented to be an emergency marker light, I don't mind chucking a pack in my husband's mountain biking rucksack. He doesn't have to make jewellery out of them...
The packaging can often be worth more than the contents - I bought a set of kids' hair accessories, chucked most of them and got a great craft storage kit for the very little bits and pieces.
Things for parties can be really fun - I bought tons of aluminium plant pots and some citronella tealights and lit up our whole garden.
Boringly, pens for writing on CDs are always useful and 4 for a quid beats the usual £1.25 each. And you already know about the jiffy bags and fab stationery.
Don't forget how much your time's worth - you might save 20p going somewhere else once in a while but is it worth half an hour of your life?0 -
