There isn't anything to be frightened of if things are past their 'best before' date - the worst thing that can happen is that the food could be a little stale (but this has never happened to me in 15 years of buying things past their date). It's only 'use by' dates that refer to health issues - 'best before' is a quality issue, and most manufacturers put a date much earlier than they expect the quality to wane because they don't want any bad publicity...
Face it, the shops wouldn't be allowed to sell these items if they were dangerous!;)0 -
Today I bought Sanctuary scrub bars, Charles worthington shampoo and conditioner. Deep Heat (proper deep Heat, not copy version).
They also had Evian toiletries and an excema cream I cant for the life of me remember the name but remember it being much more than a pound elsewhere and really good!.May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -
I would just a word of warning about the pound shop brown paper. Although all the other packing stuff inluding their legendary jiffy bags are great, i wouldn't buy their brown paper again. It tears so easily I don't think it was any coincidence that my parcels wrapped in this were the ones that went missing. Especially at this time of year it isn't worth the hassle of the Royal Mail compensation claim, spend a bit more or if possible avoid brown wrapping all together is my best advice or deffinately get a proof of postage:rolleyes:0

Hi I went in my local pound shop and there was a narnia toy in there ,and a woman picked it up and said she had paid £10.00 for it the previous week from another shop.
I must admit there is some really good toys sometimes for xmas prezzies but watch out for the cheap rubbish stuff0 -
My best buys in poundland have been rechargeable batteries, kandoo wipes, 24 cakes (so yummy) and most recently a mini camera tripod.
In the other cheapy shops (our local ones are called Mr Cheap is the cheapest :rotfl:) my best buys are double sided sticky tape think it's 10 or 12 rolls for a quid. Glass kitchen worktop savers/cutting boards, and craft supplies.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

nappy bags, baby wipes, disposable bibs, plastic ducks... lots of baby stuff. Although my mother pointed out to me that a packet of 300 nappy bags for £1 wasn't such a bargain because I could just help myself to the fruit & veg plastic bags when shopping in a supermarket.0

Another poundland Norwich fan!
This week i got;
- Golden compass (official) tamagotchi style pets - around £10 elsewhere!
- Golden Compass playset - again, probably around a £10 elsewhere
Very pleased
Does anyone know if there are there any other £1 or 99p type stores in Norwich? I've been to the poundland several times since I moved here, and found some good stuff, but would like to check out any others.
I bought a double pack of cadbury fingers, and a socket extension that turns one outlet in to four, plus some little stationary bits.
It's mostly good stuff for the price, but I don't normally buy the cleaning products. I think Sainsburys are cheaper for these (buy own brands), and I mostly use soda crystals and stardrops anyway, which both cost much less than £1 and go a long way.0 -
Boo, I live in SW London, it's too posh for pound shops, I have never even seen one anywhere near my house. If anyone knows of any in London, locations would be much appreciated.
I think for a long time Cambridge felt the same way (too posh for pound shops) but we've finally got one. Hope we get more -
I've been waiting for them to get the toaster bags in for me and (following a great MSE tip) some for a coeliacs friend and huzzah!, they had them in today! So get them while they're hot"As a cure for worrying, work is better than whiskey"0
