Be careful if you buy shampoo or showergel; the same products can cost less than £1 in Tesco.;)

I like their bath fizz bombs - three in a pack and pretty big ones too.
Also have bought a phone charger with about 6 different connectors so it fits my phone.
Got a pack of big dry wipe coloured markers. That's an incredible bargain.
One of my favourites, and I'm not sure if I'm happy or cross - I "invented" an adaptor for the car cigarette lighter to facilitate the use of more than one plug in. All set to patent it and make my fortune.... Found a four way one in poundland  Still, at least everyone got one for xmas.

    Cheers

  • I went into Pounland last Friday, and they were selling loads of Rimmel lipsticks, eyeshadows and lipglosses, which would cost wellover £3 normally! I think I spent about £15 on rimmel lipsticks to give as small xmas gifts! Some major bargains to be had in there!:j

I would avoid their batteries though, they seem great but they dont last very long at all!
  • The tings I end to get in my local poundland are 24 Oxo cubes, Fraybentos pies, and other branded foods (sometimes need to be careful )have been unsure of prices in supermarketswhen on offer also thins like ant powder and slug killer is very good. Do need to be careful as sometimes you get what you pay for !!!:j

quote=Gunna;15335147]Well in my town we have about 4 poundshops now and they are huge(just shows how popular they have become). When i go in i usually spend over a tenner as i stock up on bargains on a recent trip i got:

Ambi pur refills normally i pay about £2.50 each for these

dog toys and cat toys...great value compared to the pet shop , but watch out for cheap made stuff that rips apart easily.

body sprays.....i got impulse or charlie you don't save a fortune on these but if buying 3 or 4 it does save nearly £2

christmas decorations.....there is a super variety and it is just as good as the stuff twice, 3 times the price in the likes of BHS and such.

some food stuffs, such as crisps and coffee buying a few of these does save me a few ££££'s lol

Gifts for kids.....there is lots of silly kids toys which for a quid make ideal stocking fillers for friends kids and bulk up what i am giving them for a few £££'s more.

car stuff......can get some good gadgets for the car and cleaning stuff saves me a good fiver sometimes.

Hmmm will have to think what else i get...... :)[/quote]
  • At the moment Poundland, they have small selection boxes 4 for £3. Usually 99p or £1.00 in most other shops..
Gift bags, X-large x-mas ones, Other shops any thing from £2.00 upwards...
or Packs of 3 large holographic ones, Packs of 3 Bottles bags.
Packs of 4 7up, usually 50p can. Halloween stuff great bargains.. keep a look out for glow stick items...especially if your going trick or treating... or going to a bonfire, you can pay £2-3 for one, some of the glow stick packs can make 5 bracelets.
  • packs of white coffee and drinking chocolate (Galaxy) in plastic cups that my builder son can just add water to when he's at work. Galaxy instant drinking choc, assorted 'big brand' chockie mis-shapes in fact loadsa 'goodies' I couldn't afford otherwise.
  • I can recommend 99p Stores for the following. I haven't really checked out large supermarket chain prices, but they must be more than a quid, and often not available in some of the quantities I show...

large jars of pickled garlic cloves, extra virgin olive oil (125ml), big bottles of soy sauce (623ml), lemon juice (2 x 500ml), balsalmic vinegar (500ml), red oxo cubes (24 pack), various Indian snacks (Balti mix 39p small, Bombay mix large), Walkers Sensations (2 large packs), anti dandruff shampoo (3 x 190ml.

I never shop anywhere else for these items which are now taboo on a Sainsbury shopping list.
  • branded stuff is good value obviously if cheaper than the supermarket. Toiletries etc usually. Food stuff is good value too but be aware that often it is fairly close to the use by date Occasionly good books or dvd's can be found. Own brand/ generic electronics can be bit hit or miss....but often for a pound well worth the risk.

winners for me over the years have been the D&E coffee, various branded toilertries, led torch keyring, peanut butter, a couple of toys, skype headset, lighters, washing powder, freeze blocks

just be aware that some stuff is a bit dodgy (chinese toys with no instructions, lighters packaged in wrong box etc.)

  • In Poundland:

    Packs of two toastie bags.
    3 packs of Maryland Cookies.
    Clearasil Toner
    Clearasil Face Wash
    Assorted Sally Hansen Nail Products
    Schwarzkop(sp?) hair styling products
3 jars Cow and Gate baby food
2 jars Cow and Gate drinks
  • Toolbox tools are excellent value. They are fairly well made and can't be beaten on price. 7.5 metre tape measure, hammers, pliers etc all approx 1/4 - 1/3 rrp. toothpaste around 1/2 price same with toothbrushes dressing up items, - cowboy/girl hats 1/3 price. halloween stuff is 1/3 of the cost in tesco. photo paper is good quality at a fraction of the cost. just avoid the tat - you can see whats not up to scratch. happy hunting!
