JackieO...that's wonderful news! Gin and tonic I consider to be a vile drink but have it and enjoy it...you have been a brilliant example to us all

  • Just want to say thank you for all the support. It has really REALLY helped. Can't think or imagine a smiley to say how much it means.

When I was in with the dr he asked if little bear was ill. I replied, which is what I believed, that he was suffering from need-a-nap-itis. He has been a lovely little bear today, then he was sick when we put him to bed. He was sick all over himself the carpet and me. He was sick with enthusiasm and gusto.

Yesterday we took him out, I never have a problem going out with little bear and dear heart, and he got extremely tired, and today he was catching up. He is on the last couple of teeth to come through as well. But until a few weeks ago he had never been sick, so I don't think 22 months before the first episode is bad. Poor little bear, he was so upset but once he had been sick and we had all got changed and I had hosed down the carpet he was really happy. I thought I would be cuddling him for ages, but he just smiled and went straight to sleep. I may have an early morning if he is hungry. I can live with that.

I am really nervous about seeing the Health Visitor. They are really nice people but they have to do what is best for little bear. Dear heart is coming with me. I am not sure it is a good or a bad thing. I suggested that I got a job and that little bear was with a childminder, to get the socialisation, and he wouldn't hear of 'anyone else bringing up our child', which is an exemplary sentiment which I wholeheartedly endorse, but didn't leave me feeling hopeful. Dear heart has expressed unease at me leaving little bear with a childminder for an hour or two a week in the past. The doctor was extremely concerned that little bear wasn't meeting other children, but as I have struggled so much just to get him out, it was always further down the list. Now I don't know what I should do for the best.

Actually, I do know what to do for the best - post on here! You have all been so helpful and supportive, I would have been completely lost.

I managed to get a loaf of bread extremely inexpensively (for local shops) - 60p for a Warburtons and I am going to reduce it to crumbs and make a coconut and cherry cake. I have never tried the recipe before, but I shall tomorrow and if it is a success I shall let you know. I am saying that no matter what happens tomorrow, I shall continue to try and make my home as welcoming, well run and OS as I can.

JackieO - I am so happy to hear your news. If you like gin and tonic may I recommend gin and pineapple. It is surprisingly pleasant.

I love the phrase freezer roulette. I shall commit it to memory for when I have things 'stashed' in the freezer.

Not had a minute to myself for a couple of days, but having just got on here for the second attempt today all I can say is

    :j :j :T :T :D:D      :j :j :j

That's fantastic news Jackie:D :D:D You so deserve this upturn, long may it continue. I'm raising my glass at this very moment. Good health and long life to you:beer:

OS? Well I did reheat the leftovers of yesterday's beef casserole, and cooked more mash and brussels:D Oh yes, I swished the bathroom, and flicked a duster around. But the piece de resistance was lighting a yankee candle, made the house smell really fresh;) ( clean cotton, or whatever it's called:o )

    Night all, CM xx

Edited to add, ((((hugs))) for Snowy and Dylan.

Also to announce my little Mapleleaf grandchild arrived a few days ago, a little granddaughter:D :j

    Hello everyone

    Ooo JackieO, congratulations!!!

Churchie, you're a granny!!! Wow, I didn't suspect for a second you were anywhere near old enough to be one of those. I bet your little granddaughter is beautiful and that you get to meet her in person very very soon.

Wo*k today went fine - just did a load of sorting out old papers for them and cleared some storage space. As first days go it was a good one. Fingers Xed that tomorrow is as good.

Wee Dylan is spending the night at the vet's - no big emergency, it's just that thanks to my commute time I can't drive home, get Dylan then drive to the vet's and have a consultation with the vet in one evening. Poor Dylan has a lone appointment in the morning and the vet will decide whether or not he needs another operation:( My feeling is that he does, but the vet will call me to discuss before going ahead. The operation would be to relieve the symptoms until such time as the medicines I have ordered get here. They take AGES to come via airmail. Neither have the homeopathic remedies arrived, though I expect they will be here tomorrow. TBH I don't think wee Dylan's prospects are that good. I'm now a member of an internet group specifically for people who have cats with this disease. It's very plain to me that my vet has been fabulous and prescribed all the right things etc, but Dylan simply isn't responding as he should, which means that his disease is worse than is usual when first diagnosed. I will give him every chance I can but he simply can't go through an operation every fortnight. It hurts me to think of life without him but he is not going to suffer because I can't face facts.:cry:

On that tearful note I bid you all goodnight.

Glad work went OK. Everything crossed for Dylan, but glad you are able to put his needs first, no matter how awful and hard that is:kisses3: Will keep everything crossed for as long as I can that things work out for him ( and you!)
