    Morning all,
We had a great day y/day, the roast banquet went well, everyone had seconds, was hoping there would be some left for dinner tonight but DD1 took what was left home with her. DD2 took the remains of her choc b/day cake home so the fridge is empty.

Think I'll do some jerk chicken for tonight and an apple something for pud. Went to check on DF's house and collected 2 carrier bags of cookers, the freezer is bursting with them. I spent ages trying to fill in holes and relay clumps of turf in their garden, they are plauged by badgers.

Sheets washed and hanging on the line but don't think they'll dry lovely and sunny but no wind. Vacumed downstairs and ficked around.

Not much to report really so I'll stop boring you all and get on and do something.

Lots of housework to do - today I am going to deep clean the kitchen and bathroom, it's sad really but I am quite looking forward to it :o

I hope everyone is well and hugs for all

Just after a bit of advice. I read on here that you can use stardrops in the dishwasher? Well I have just used the last of the very expensive tablets and need to go shopping later, if I buy stardrops (instead of tablets) what do I do, skirt it where the tablet normally goes? or does anyone know if the Tesco cheapie ones are any good.

I am really trying to manage my shopping bill, with 6 of us (3 being teenagers who have hollow legs!) I have seen the cost really increasing so am trying to cut a few corners.

    Thanks in advance.

    hello

I had a lovely weekend. I made a roman blind for the nursery. I'm soooo overly pleased with my efforts. it's the first time I've ever really made something that ambitious (I even had to borrow a sewing machine!) and I think it looks great :D I lined it and everything :D Also tested out some new cake recipes, but still, plain victoria sponge is the favourite in our house oh, and twinks hobnobs.

have lots of housey OS chores to do today so will have the vinegar and bicarb out to do some scrubbing.

dinner is beef stew, with veggies and potatoes. yum. I might also make bread pudding :D

I hope that no-one was too badly effected by the winter gales and now have the lovely sunshine we have here.

    Hi mishmash :)
I haven't used stardrops in my dishwasher so can't advise on that...but...I've been using the Tesco value tablets and they are perfectly ok...and sooo much cheaper!

not sure about stardrops, but I use tesco's own (clean and clear I think it's called) dishwasher powder. It's the cheapest I can find that works well - even cheaper than buying in bulk at costco etc. It's also the cheapest range tesco stocks in our local stores. Not sure if they do a value range?

Good morning. We are having fishcakes for lunch, using the mashed potato left over from yesterdays tea and a tin of sardines. Then I will make a pizza using self raising flour, yeast and suet for the base (we have run out of other flour) and top with tomato puree, mozzarella cheese, chicken and baby corn. We've still got a lot of chicken left so I'll also make a chicken and green bean chilli and freeze it for tomorrow and if I have enough meat left over after that I'll get some natural yoghurt and tinned tomatoes and add them to some tikka powder and mix them with some chicken and serve with potatoes and some sort of green veg for another day.

    Morning all,

I was working this weekend and was sooo looking forward to a lie in this morning because the kids are off for half term but the clocks going back has knocked us all out a bit so I was up with the larks. Typical!

Ds2 and I put our time to good use though, we made a cooked breakfast of eggs, bacon and soda bread and have just finished making some fairy cakes. He's not the tidiest of bakers though so we need to start the clear-up soon. _pale_ After that I'll clean out the fireplace and lay the fire, and I haven't decided what we'll do with the rest of the day. It's a lovely crisp sunny autumn morning here so hopefully we'll get out in the fresh air.

Tea will be pot luck from the freezer and then afterwards I'm out to work.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • I've been to DD's & dropped off the food, SIL is fitting a 2nd hand kitchen, it's only 4 years old, the one in the house was put in in the 70's and falling apart. 2nd lot of washing is on the line, DW waiting to be unloaded, freezer is defrosting nicely, I was just about to get Henry out & do the floors, but hubby's just rung and asked me to go & buy some roofing stuff for BIL who hasn't paid his suppliers & need stuff for tomorrow!!!
Looks like all my OS plans are now out the window.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
