Sybil - I am another one - my son didnt start talking till 3 - I was happy but the Doc wasnt so he had had loads of tests by then. Now he doesnt stop. I agree with Hester, think the Doc sounds most unhelpful (((hugs)) to you.

Have dinner cooking in the Remoska - its lovely putting it in there and being able to get on. Had quite a good day today. Tomorrow we are off to the Zoo.

Off now to update Grocery Challenge - I too have failed miserably this month.

hmmm, just realised that I put the stew in the oven and forgot to switch it on - so it's 'freezer roulette' as steph calls it for dinner.

Actually it's not too much of a dodgy pick as I have some fish fillets in the freezer (that can be cooked from frozen) and plenty of veg in the fridge :D

    Afternoon all

Feel as though I have something accomplished today - although not deep cleaning the kitchen sadly. However DD2 and I have had some quality silly time which does count towards my satisfaction levels I think :D

Thriftlady's references to liver pate had me drooling last week so today DD2 and I had liver pate for lunch - thanks for the inspiration Thriftlady! We enjoyed it very much. I have now discovered I am out of thyme so used a bit of rosemary instead, quite a nice addition I think. Just mezzaluna'd it to death before adding to prevent the old needles between the teeth syndrome.

DD2 made her own breakfast today - I asked her what she had had, she replied that she had fancied something hot. Ready Brek? I asked. No, leftover chicken stew. Apparently as it was past nine, she had "brunch!"

Wannabe_Sybil please try not to worry too much about your Dr's comments, when DS was a small person ny Dr told me not to worry he wasn't talking or had any hair yet - of course I hadn't been until he mentioned it
  • Evening all,

just skimmed through, very tired today but a good day on placement.

Diva, the mushrooms cooked first sounds scrummy - try the hardboiled egg chunks another time though (cut into quarters lengthways). It does taste nicer than it sounds!
Ivyleaf & Stef, hope your heads are feeling better & hope all others feeling poorly too are on the mend.

Sybil, can't add anything to what others have said, but I agree with them totally. We are all rooting for you , you are doing really well :)

Right, I'm already in my pj's, going to get another cuppa & make some rhubarb crumble I think :)

    Good evening Chums,
had to pop in and tell you that I went to the hospital this afternoon and I have now been discharged, and they don't want to see me for a year now Yippee:j
I still have to take my Arimidex to prevent any cancer returning (fingers crossed) but you can imagine how pleased I am After 17 months of operations ,setbacks, chemo, radiotherapy and then another op. a couple of weeks ago to resection my original scar I am over the moon.:j
I intend to sit down tonight and have a large gin and tonic to celebrate.
Both my two DDs are pleased as punch that their dappy old Ma will be around for a bit longer.Thank you all for all your help and support over the past months .It has been quite an experience and one that I hopefully won't have to repeat. Next June ,god willing I shall do a Race for Life ,or in my case a fairly swift hobble to help raise some cash for the smashing breast care folk who have helped me over the hurdles.
Tomorrow I am off to Bluewater to meet my friend for lunch and have a wander around the shops. Four weeks time I get fitted for my prosthesis and then I shall treat myself to some posh new bras to make up for wobbling around for the past year and a half :D
Sybil my dear, it sounds as though you are doing everything right with your little one .Have you got a Meet-a Mums association near to you, they are brilliant for Mums that are a bit down and depressed. I know as my youngest DD used to run one after she was post-natal after her forth child. Its a great movement and focusses on Mums and what makes them feel better about themselves My DD was terrific with her group as she was someone on the end of the phone for her 'Mums' almost 24/7.She would try to match up Mums with similar babies and problems as often a trouble shared is a trouble halved
Don't worry about him not saying a lot my DD was almost three and a half before she started, and now at 39 will not shut up. She was aslo a late walker ,basically she was a lazy little lass who let her sister do all the talking and if she wanted something would point and her sister would get it for her.
You keep on doing what your intuition tells you, and try not to fret about Dr.s and HV He sounds to be a dilightful little lad and by Christmas you will be surprised how much of a chatterbox he will suddenly become ,especially with a tree and fairy lights to look at
God bless you all I'm off to watch Corrie and put my feet up xx

Managed to get DH to drive me to Lidl and stocked up on long life milk, bread flour, plain flour etc.

Made a loaf in the Panny and tea was 2 BLTs for DD(14) and pork loin chop with potato wedges and mushy peas for the rest of us done in the Remoska.

Had some mashed potato in the fridge which I managed to turn into potato scones so very pleased with myself.

I have been making a concious effort to use things up and save energy by using the Remoska etc.

    Sybil

My twins did not talk intelligibly till they were over 4 as they understood each other perfectly and would just scream and point otherwise.

I think you are being such a good mum that you are anticipating his needs and wants so he does not "have " to talk if you know what I mean. Please don't feel you are doing a bad job, I think just the opposite!!!! Big hug.
