  • Good morning.

I am sorry I haven't posted much, but I have been a bit low.

Finally got to the doctors and he has put me back on a lower dose of antidepressants, and has made an emergency appointment for me to see the Health Visitor tomorrow, because of concerns about little bear.

Little bear is well fed, clean, cuddled and loved. But I am not taking him to mums & tots because of my depression. The doctor was extremely concerned and thought little bear needed to be, don't know the word, but as if he was neglected.

How do I tell my husband? I am very upset.

Also little bear doesn't talk yet. My feeling is that little bear clearly understands what is going on and can be very, very clear about what he wants. He is not yet two and I supposed he will talk when he is ready. But the doctor thought it was very bad.

What is my husband going to say?

I don't believe I neglect little bear, he is loved and fed and clean and never just left or anything. When we go to the newagents or chemists or somewhere he is cuddled by people, he is always calm around others, very placid. Yesterday we took him to the park and he was giggling and chortling at the geese as we fed the birds. I know I haven't been taking him out to any groups, but I have been getting closer and closer to that.

    Don't know what to do.

I know that this is not OS but I am going to try and ask my husband to come home because I am not feeling very good and I am also going to ground myself by doing lots of housewifery. I know that the people on here are very kind, and you all have your own crosses to bear. I am glad to hear that they have found medicine for Dylan, because it can be so hard to see a little furry loved one suffer. So I will be coming on here just posting bits, what I have done, and I know that you will not mind if I am just putting the basics.

Little bear has been washed, dressed, cuddled, tickled and had a big bowl of ready brek for breakfast. He also had a bottle when he woke. He really needs a nap, but the room is very bright, so I think I will give him an early lunch because his tummy doesn't know that the clocks have gone back. Hopefully after that he will have a good nap. His lunch is going to be some very non OS tinned meatballs, but they are very toothsome (I really adored them when I was little) and perhaps they may tempt him.

WannabeSybil - don't worry about what the Dr has said about Little Bear not speaking - my DS2 didn't speak properly until he was almost 2, when his big brother went to nursery & he had to speak for himself if he wanted anything. You may well find that he suddenly starts & doesn't bother with baby-language, just straight into "why?....but why?" Also, I think he could be more concerned about you & your health than Little Bear's lack of socialising. Mums & Tots is a way for you to meet people too, not just the little ones, maybe it's his way of giving you a little push to take another step along the road to going out?

Have a hug :grouphug: to help you feel a bit better.

Not much OS yet today - had a good weekend though:

Saturday lunch was from the fridge - OH's spare M&S sandwich from Friday (bought for his travelling tea on expenses!), with some crackers for dipping into h/m guacamole (2 x 10p y/s avocados!) & h/m creme fraiche & chive dips and some h/g tomatoes from the kitchen windowsill.
Tea was freezer tea - y/s sausages with reloaded potato skins (with added wholegrain mustard & parmesan) and roasted tomatoes, to give a good base for the Halloween Ball we went to :)
Sunday was a lovely but blowy & damp morning so we walked along the front to see Mr S in Bispham, then bus home for the footie & h/m soup with h/m rosemary bread.
Sunday tea was y/s poussin from the freezer followed by h/m apple pie & h/m koo stark

Did all the washing over the weekend, just got the ironing mountain to tackle this week :(

Added: Tonight's tea will be OS - BOGOF broccoli (sp!) with leeks & cheesey sauce (tub of soft cheese with herbs lurking in fridge) followed by leftover apple pie (if OH didn't scoff it all at lunchtime!)

Have a good day all, see you later

Wannabe - don't be so hard on yourself. I've pm'd you. You sound as if you have post-natal depression which is not your fault. I'm glad you are seeing your health visitor and, if I was you, I would tell your husband because you need his support. Your little one is his baby, too.

Pink-winged - I would like all those delicious cakes! Your little boy looks gorgeous!

Morning, hugs all round and welcome to any newbies!

Been having a cleaning morning, well toilets and bathroom.Used Starclens diluted in a spray and it seemed as good as anything else. It's lovely here today, but a bit nippy.

I've got some spicy veg soup in the Remoska.I was going to put it in the slow cooker, but remembered that you always do your soups in the Rem Mioliere and thought I'd give it a try.We went for a curry on Sat night, and they gave us a complimentary soup served in a little cup and tiny spoon. It was really nice and DH asked if I could make some.I already had the stock in the fridge from doing the turkey leg,and yesterday got a half price pack of diced soup veg, bunged a few spices in and that was that.I shall have some shortly.

I also got a half price pork joint so we had that for tea yesterday,it was lovely, and plenty left for another meal so I've frozen it in the gravy.Did quite well with the YS in Mr T's yesterday morning. We were going to go to Mr.A but it wasn't open when we got there,it was about 10.20 and didnt open till 11,so we went round the corner.Loads of people were going up to the doors and had to turn round again. It was quite funny cos we saw most of them in T after,so Asda are missing out on a fair bit of custom by opening that half hour later on Sunday mornings.

Tea is chicken with leekand bacon, still some apple pie left too :D
I've finished all my clothes alterations so got a bit more variety now- I very nearly chucked them in a charity bag.I read in the paper yesterday that sewing machines sales are on the increase as people 'make do and mend'-also people are taking shoes to the cobblers and they are doing a roaring trade. Its nice to know it isn't bad news for everybody at the mo.

Right the soup is calling me...have a good day all. xx

  • Afternoon all!

I woke up this morning and have lost my voice. My OH is walking around with a huge grin on his face - not sure if those two facts are related... lol.giflol.gif

Squiggly - I love fish pie too, white fish, some smoked fish, some prawns and big chunks of mushroom in mine (I cook the mushroom with some garlic, onion and red pepper first so the water doesn't come out and liquify the cheese sauce). Am definately putting another one on the menu soon. Never tried eggs in it though.
Blairweech - I forgot to say, Buckfast Abbey do the BEST home made scones with their clotted cream teas that I have had in a long time. They bake them there so are often just warm out of the oven too. Probably the wrong time of the year for that, but should you go in the summer, you must try one!

Mrs Mix - hope the cold feels better soon.
Snowy - thinking of you and Dylan
Glad honey - Oh no! Good to hear there wasn't much damage but how stressful for you!
    Becky - welcome2.gifto you and scared1980
Essex-girl and Catowen - we had the chicken but chose the pork stuffing and it was delicious! Really tasty. We didn't pick the roasties 'cos my OH makes the nicest roast potatoes I have tasted!
Sybil - big hugs honey - it certainly sounds like Post natal depression that should have been picked up ages ago. Your husband will not be cross with you darling, he loves you and little bear and you need his support right now, so don't be afraid of sharing it with him. My nephew didn't talk til he was past 2 either and he went almost straight into sentences, so please do not worry.

I slept really badly last night, so feeling tired today. yawn2.gif I was nervous I think - I have a long over due Drs appt. I love my Dr, he is a darling but I hate going to the surgery and people looking... Oh well, can't be helped, I think Ian would drag me there whether I wanted to or not at this stage!

I too have been sewing buttons this morning. My OH seems to be shedding them for winter - I had three to sew on on a variety of his clothes. He also had a rip in his trouser pocket and kept forgetting and throwing his change down his leg! So all done now, and I feel very virtuous.

Tonight will be a left-over chicken recipe of some kind - haven't quite decided what.. might be fajitas, we haven't had them for a while and I love making salsa and refried beans.. Also need to do some baking - we are out of hobnobs. That reminds me, need to go take the bread out of the BM so it cools off for sandwiches.

I hope everyone has a great day - smileyhug.gifto all who need them and congrats to anyone who is celebrating today!

    Afternoon all

Not been on for a while, have kept reading though so I know what you are all up to ;):D

Usually only work Weds - Fri but my co-worker is off this week for half term with her kids so am covering Monday and Tuesday mornings for her, I am such a kind person

Just been to pick up a jacket I bought for my DGD 2 christening on Sunday. Had to have the sleeves shortened as I am a short a**e and the sleeves always go past my knuckles. Have a big pile of ironing to keep me amused for the afternoon and then we have the salmon and roast veg from the M&S £10 dine menu for dinner. Yummy

Sybil I just want to say we are all rooting for you. My son (24 this year) was a lazy so and so regarding talking. He didn't start until he was at least 2 and by the time we got the appt to the speech therapist he was chatting for England. Boys are lazy little toe rags and I bet before long he will be chatting like a good 'un. Mine did, not only did he not stop all day ten to the dozen but talked in his sleep too!!

    Hugs all
  • Thank you so much for all the support - it means a lot.

I am confident little bear knows a lot of words, he will utter them when it suits him. He knows very well what I am saying and complete strangers understand exactly what he means. He has just made two slices of toast look extremely second hand and finished nearly more than half of a big tin of meatballs.

I just feel so bad that he is suffering because of me.

    Two lots of washing done.

I am trying to convince little bear to nap (much needed!) and then perhaps I shall clear cupboards out - extremely therapeutic!

Thank you so much for kind messages.

    Afternoon all.

Catch-up time again; haven't read the weekend threads, or I'll be here all afternoon, but I hope everyone had a reasonably good one, and that falling trees and earthquakes didn't cause too much havoc.

Sybil just a little tale for you, when Mr LW was a baby, he started talking, -and then when he realised that his dad would then tell him to do things, he stopped and pretended not to understand! Crafty what-not. Anyway, I thought it might give you a chuckle.:D

Lots of bargains at the veggie market in Stony Stratford on Saturday; I do like their produce, it's always lovely and fresh, much better than the supermarket.

Went to the theatre Saturday night, so I was totally cream crackered yesterday; it's ok though, I just got Mr LW to do all the work - he even did eggs and chips for dins.
He's requested pasta and cheese sauce tonight :j I can do that with my eyes shut. Really must get my hat finished for Friday.

Sybil I'm sure you and littlebear are going to be fine. My twin brother didn't walk for a few months after me, nobody thought there was anything wrong, he just developed a bit slower than me.

It doesn't feel like I've done a massive amount in the way of OSing over the last few days, due to my gran passing away, although thinking about it I haven't done too bad. Used the SC a few times, stretching a few ingredients a long way. Beef stew last night was made entirley with yellow sticker ingredients. The weetabix cake I made for pudding had my parents guessing on the ingredients for a while, they were shocked when they found out what was in it and that I had made it.

(((((((HUGS))))))) Sybil - it doesn't sound to me as if little bear is suffering at all, you are obviously looking after him really well, he is loved and cared for beautifully, and don't worry about his speech either, our DGS who was 2 in August wasn't talking much when he went for his 2-year check but the Health Visitor wasn't at all concerned. He is talking a lot more now - he started off using phrases such as "'ere tis!" (There it is!) and we think one of the staff at his nursery (he and his little sister go twice a week when their mum is working) must be from the North, because when anything goes wrong he exclaims "Oh NO!" in a strong northern accent :D A lot of the time none of us can understand what he is saying yet - he has tongue-tie so that may be a factor. You have been doing really well managing to go out on the bus with little bear!

Just back from the surgery where we both had a flu jab - I had one because I'm DH's carer, though when I'm having a very bad day we have to swap roles :p He had the pneumonia one as well, and the nurse said I could have one too, so going back for that tomorrow.

Glad - I haven't caught up with the end of yesterday's thread yet, but thamk goodness you are all okay!

((((HUGS)))) to everyone in need of them, and WELCOME to our new posters!

Got a migraine coming, so just a quick post from me today. Will come back later if it goes away quickly.

    Best wishes

    ivyleaf xx
