OS meet up?

:TThey are some lovely suggestions! As long as you don't give in to the dairy products!!!
I'm going to check on the websites mentioned - every time I go along to a meet up I seem to be on a steep learning curve about OS life and all the ideas that we talk about - it really gives me a boost - must be all the laughing :rotfl:
The thought of organising a meet up makes me start to feel_pale_ - I think that it's a natural gift to some people but then I only have to think about a trip on the river up to Hampton court for a bring-a-long Picnic or "a right royal rave-up " that I start to  that would be
I like the idea of a Royal Tea for £7 very much as well - Caterina - what do you other OS princesses think?May you fill up the great clutterbucket of life and may all of your leaks be in cheese sauce
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without:cool:0 -
Hi all
Long time no meet up! Summer is a long way away and it is 71 days, 13 hours and a few minutes to Christmas
Methinks time to meet up again.
How is Saturday 6th November for you? We could meet in the morning (10 ish, as it opens, to avoid the inevitable Saturday morning crowds) to go to the Royal Teas cafe in Greenwich, here is a link to their website with details of how to get there:
http://www.royalteascafe.co.uk/
Or we could meet in the early afternoon in the Blackheath Reminscence Centre (link: http://www.age-exchange.org.uk/about_us/visit.html)
Or if anyone feels really adventurous we could meet at the fish and chip shop in Lewisham (Something Fishy, here is the link to a Time Out review and map: http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/venue/2:1294/something-fishy ) and then decant to the Blackheath place, or even the M&S cafe in Lewisham centre, where they have a great big Outlet on the first floor (so we can satisfy our OS shopping desires as well as our hunger and thirst!).
Of course, if anyone else has other suggestions and wants to move the meet out of SE London I would be delighted to let them organise an alternative location and programme .
Please let me know what you think.
Love to all xxx
EDITED TO SAY:
I know that looking through the thread it looks like it is always the same crowd, but I really want to reassure potential newcomers that these meet-ups are for all who want to turn up, it is a really friendly, fun event, very low-key, and remember that the "regulars" used to be newcomers too, once! Please come along and we will make you very welcome!
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BUMP!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Ohhh, want to, want to!!!
I should be packing ready for the big move ... but a morning and afternoon off won't hurt will it?!?!! I can pack in the evening
I will find out what Mr Icey (snigger!) is working and see what I can do.

Sounds good to me, dont mind where we go morning or afternoon.
I'm bringing my crochet hook and some wool so someone (hopefully) can show me how to make a start, cause so far I've tried and failed0 -

Hi Caterina I will be at Uni until 12.00 in the Medway but can make the afternoon o.k. I should think unless something untoward happens. Blackheath is good for me if your thinking about there.I would love to see it as I went to school in the village and have lots of memories of the place

Yeh, the numbers are already swelling! I have heard from Ivyleaf, she is not 100% sure if she can make it and will let us know nearer the time.
Jackie, remind me to introduce you to a Blackheath "old-timer" when we are there if she is there too, you might even find you know each other!
Annie, I shall show you how to crochet if you want!
I got some books and maybe will have mags as well to bring and share.
Looks like the date is set then, Saturday 6th November, now all we have to do is agree on who want to meet first in Lewisham for fish and chips (around 12 noon is best otherwise it gets really too busy) and then move on to Blackheath for tea and cake, or meet us directly at Blackheath. I'd say that if we meet in Lewisham at noon we would be in Blackheath around 2pm.
Post your preferences please, so I can update the first post with details of places and times. Thanks.
Special message to those shy people who are reading the post and thinking "oh I could NEVER go there all by myself, they will all already know each other, they will be a clique, I will definitely not fit, what am I going to talk about, they might not be my type of people, I might not be their type of person...." etc. etc. This meeting is SUPER-FRIENDLY - we are all very different, with different lifestyles, ages, job situations, even nationalities, yet we get along like a house on fire on these meets and invariably have great fun and come away feeling that we have met a true bunch of great people. What we DO have in common is, we are all OSers and have a lot of fun sharing our experiences and any bits and pieces that we bring along (if we have any and if we can be bothered - anyone is free to bring lots of stuff or absolutely nothing and they are welcome anyway!).
If anyone is wondering about the cost of the outing, the cost for fish and chips is £3.70 but they have cheaper alternatives, too. Also if two people buy a large portion of fish and chips and then share (I think it costs around £5 something) it works even cheaper that way. The cost of a cup of tea in the Blackheath place is 60p and cake 70p.
I hope more people decide to join us!Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I would love to join you .... but am afraid I can't
We will be away on that date... I make my hubby go away around that time, so he gets a rest after the 'taties' have been harvested and before the sugar beet is lifted...otherwise, we wouldn't get away and he needs the break... being a farmer he seems to work long hours constantly.
My sister is spending more time in London now...half year here and half in India with her hubby's family....so maybe I might be able to make it one day when I'm staying with her.
I hope you all have a wonderful time....I love a good chin wag, especially with other like-minded people...I'm trying to convert as many people as possible to OS ... but often it falls on deaf ears!A family that eats together, stays together
