I am getting so excited about this, a mini-holiday and with my OS friends, can't wait! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Fran has just sent me a personal invitation! I shall try to be there, despite not being particularly Old Style, the only problem is that we (the charity I work for) are running an auction that night and I don't know what time I'll be required for duty.
I'll be in pink ... if I can make it.
Parking: I'd recommend using the Park and Ride sites, which offer free parking and are cheaper than 'normal' buses in terms of fares. But not if you want to get back to your car after 8.30 pm.
I don't know where I'd park for Corn Street on a Saturday, not the easiest place at the best of times, but AVOID the NCP car park in Queen Charlotte Street because that is an arm and a leg! Fair bit of street parking on meters, but some are limited to two hours.
If anyone wants to arrive early and see Cabot Circus, PM me for suggestions of (reasonably) safe streets within walking distance with free parking. Although for MSE kind of shopping, I would pass straight on to the new improved Broadmead!
Those of you who either live locally or are staying over, PM me if you are interested in coming to a charity auction that night, viewing from 6 pm, start at 7 pm, and I'll send details. Only £7 per head for a very good meal which will include veggie options. And some cracking items up for auction!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
To Caterina and all OS'ers meeting have a lovely time in Bristol.
As you know I'm in India at the moment, having a wonderful time, and will be with you in spirit on Saturday.
What you may not know is that Bristol is my birthplace and you actually meet on my birthday.
I'm sending you all a virtual bottle of champagne from India.... curry would mess up the internet:rolleyes:0 -
If you're up for walking up to a mile, then head for Clarence Road, BS1 6RP (that postcode is for the Mayor's Arms). There are some parking restrictions along here, and I can't guarantee you'd find a space, but I usually have at other times.
If you arrive early you could divert to St Mary Redcliffe Church, "the goodliest church in all my realm" according to Queen Elizabeth I, or look round Queen Square.
I would print a street map before doing this but then I have no sense of direction, and no memory for directions, so I'm not going to try and give you any!
It's a flat walk, btw, which is more than can be said for most of the rest of Bristol!
Look out for the Nails in Corn Street.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
