FairyElephant thanks for offer, but I am already invited at Fran's, but I am sure there will be more occasions to meet and I shall be grateful for a crash pad in Bristol - I am really excited, this is my first time in Bristol in 26 years that I have lived in the UK!

I know what you mean about telling friends about your OS ways and them rolling their eyes, yawning or plain taking the mickey! You will see that meeting OSers in person is a very liberating thing, you can say "I am not going to buy that, it is too expensive" and nobody is going to bat an eyelid or think you are mean (this is always such a fear of mine, being taken for a meanie rather than just frugal).

Really, among OSers you can even say that you save the fluff of your bellybutton to stuff pincushions, and not only nobody laughs but they congratulate you on such a great idea, and then copy it! :rotfl:

I am easy on where we go to eat, sometimes a cheap eaterie works better than a 2 for 1 voucher as it gives more options, for example a Chinese or Indian meal shared among people can work out quite reasonable. My only concern is that we go somewhere that caters for vegetarians, that's all.

    Hey, can't wait!

Ciao all, see you all soon in person!:T
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Wetherspoons has veggie stuff, if we are going there does someone who knows the pubs want to say which one? I'm open to other options and would prefer veggie too.

I won't be eating but can confirm Wetherspoons does veggie stuff, or there's really cheapie food stalls (limited seating though) in St Nicholas's market - the Moroccan and Caribbean stalls have good veggie options. Or there's a Lebanese nearby that does an eat all you want lunch - thinks it's £6.99.

  • Lucky you Savingforoz having a day at home! - The A38 at Bedminster Down is pretty treacherous though, so Barrow is probably worse.
It took me an hour to get in to work this morning (usually 10 - 15 mins!). I had a few little slides, but most of the problem was other drivers just not knowing how to drive in the conditions.
It's snowed a bit more since I got here though, so going home could be 'interesting'! The A38 at Bedminster Down is pretty treacherous, so Barrow is probably worse.
I am well-equipped though - all the cold-weather gear and my hiking boots, so I can abandon the car and walk if necessary (got trouble with my foot at the moment so didn't want to attempt walking both ways!).

Big freeze forecast for the weekend....so wrap up warm OSers!

Any consensus on where to meet, and what time? I originally suggested 2pm, but if people are wanting to eat, should we make it earlier?

I am happy to switch to going to Wetherspoons in Corn Street, a mere hop and a skip away from the original suggestion of the Watershed, if that is what people prefer.

So, what about 1pm at Wetherspoons?

I have heard that the Watershed is expensive  so would prefer Wetherspoons (or alternative).

Would it be possible for any local MSE'ers to post a postcode or adress so we can work out how to get there? Thanks.

How many are hoping to come, so far?

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I still have transport by then - OH has been made redundant and is expecting lease company to come and take company car any day!. I will be really disappointed if I can't come!

  • Hi All!

1.00pm suits me fine - I'm free all that day (my first 'free' day for ages - yippee!).

If we're going for the Wetherspoons, address is: The Commercial Rooms, 43-45 Corn Street, Bristol, BS1 1HT.
