There is no right or wrong way to stop smoking, end of story :p

It is hard to have a sensible debate with someone who is in denial
if you stick something in your mouth suck it and call it vaping when you are inhailing what you wanted to stop what you came on this site in the first place to do.

    Well, duh....

You haven't tried e-cigs, but it hasn't stopped you commenting on them.

Are you really this stupid, or are you just playing at it?

We wanted to stop burning tobacco, which is where the majority of the health hazards are in cigarettes, 98% of the hazards if you want me to quote several eminent doctors.

If you want a debate fine. But stop being silly old boy.

Denis you're really not being constructive and helpful and methinks you're laughing at the keyboard so I won't engage with you anymore....Simple...My choice. Just like e-cigs as a form of nic reduction and harm reduction is my choice. We're grown adults on here :) No point in just typing to wind up.....not helpful on a googable board. Really not man.....take a cupcake (preferably a green one). Sure you won't fathom my metaphors but that's cos protozoa shouldn't really be in chat when they're infectious never mind on a public board. Yes and the no smokes thread thought I was being dog like LOL..... rofl...

So yeah....please Denis.....take your infections elsewhere before MSE Martin or the mods catch some icky disease they can't shake off and can't get NHS treatment for and MSE, your beloved site you like to try and wind up like it's a clockwork mouse on speed, goes to the south atlantic..

Actually dear Dennis....I have to say that you're right - the e-cig is not a quitting smoking device. But I'm using it to gradually reduce my nicotine. I've gone from 36mg/ml to 22mg/ml no probs. Taken me a while but still...God willing I hope to get off it by the end of the year...

So again...never free of nicotine....please go park your RR in the appropriate parking bay....

You are 100% correct so keep your trolls off the thread who are keen on stopping all forms of NICOTINE inhalation

So Denis.............. those on the no smoking board do not use nicotine in their quest to stop smoking?

May I correct you on some points:

    Patches - contains nicotine

    Inhalators - contains nicotine

    Gum - contains nicotine

    Lozenges - contains nicotine

    Sprays - contains nicotine

I will quote another post from you:

"if you stick something in your mouth suck it and call it vaping when you are inhailing what you wanted to stop what you came on this site in the first place to do"

Erm............... dont people who use inhaltors doing exactly what you seem to loathe - inhaling nicotine

So are the posters who use patches, inhalators, gum, etc and post on the no smoking thread going to be forced out by you and others?

I have to say bravo on you being completely nicotine free

You say your in-laws are smoke free - did they use Champix or NRT?

I cannot use other forms of NRT mainly due to the fact that they do not work on me, no I am not weak willed, I gave them a good try, at one point I did not smoke for 18 months after using patches. Recently I tried them again but I now find that my bring me out in rashes amongst other side effects. I believe it is due to various medication I am now on (not for anything smoking rrelated I may add).

Going cold turkey - not for me and again I am not weak willed.

Self-help manuals/tapes/DVDs - sorry, but these are a waste of time, the only people they really help is the originator who profits from people who are desperate.

Like others here on this thread, I have decided to vape rather than smoke (yes there is a difference - no chemicals) and feel much healthier, no smokers cough, no feeling out of breath, teeth are cleaner, breath is fresh and best of all I save money.

Well I admit I loved smoking, totally true, knew it was bad for me and for all around me, but fooled myself as I spent 85% of my time in bed tucked away from the world I wasn't really harming anyone except myself. The thought of going cold turkey stuck here with nothing to take my mind off the craving was so horrible that I never once considered stopping really - yes toddled along to Fag Ends and got patches, which gave me a big raised itchy patch on arm that took days to go, then tired the gum, foul tasting, the micro tabs even more foul tasting, the spray - far to high send my head reeling and the inhalators - not to bad for first couple of puffs then the menthol taste kicked in urg so thought that's it I have tried. No-one was on my back to stop not even my doctor, I think she felt I had enough to contend with, but I felt bad for my poor husband as he did have to share the house with me along with the dogs but thought I am stuck an addict abet an addiction I did totally enjoy.

Then I heard of e-cigs and slowly did a bit of research and looked at costs and took the plunge and bought one, not to stop smoking I thought maybe it could be used just to help me cut down a bit and to use outside, the rest as they say is history, I never touched another real cigarette after using my e-cig, I totally transferred my addiction to it. Ok its only 6 weeks but I know so long as I have my e-cig I will never have a real one again. Yes I get the mad cravings for a real one but just grab the e-cig and it soon goes. At moment my nicotine levels are still high 18 -20 mg, so will be ordering lower strength of my favourite flavours to mix with my higher ones to reduce as there is nothing in between 8 -10mg and 18-20mg and bit by bit I will reduce my addiction. I am not running before I can walk and would rather spend a few months on the 18-20mg strength than suddenly reduce and end up vaping even more to get the nicotine, just me. I know I am not a very, very heavy vaper as battery of my Riva lasts me around 3 days and slowly am finding am going longer and longer between uses, its the evening I vape more where it used to be the morning I smoked at least have the nasties I was going to smoke in a day.,

My long term aim is to hopefully be nicotine free but then I have a sister who with her husband gave up the nasties just over 5 years ago after he had heart surgery at only 45, they went onto the 4mg gum and are still on it today going through about 4 -5 packs a week. My B-I-Ls heart specialist is totally happy with him, he knows he is still taking quite a lot of nicotine a day but is not bothered at all as he stopped the nasties and the specialist has not found him being on the nicotine is causing his heart any problems, he is still on lots of medication and will be for life, but he is long back at work and leading a normal life, but still a nicotine addict.

What my sister and her hubby has found is that many, many people who do give up the nasties using NRT stay on it - they tell you yes they are smoke free, but they hide the fact they are still addicted to the nicotine even years later, as she is open about still being on the gum people tell her how they are still using NRT long after they have told their doctors and family they have stopped. One guy she knows puts the microtabs into an indigestion tab tub, another hides the patch inside the top of their leg, another has it on their tummy, others like sis use the gum but put it in ordinary containers to pretend its normal gum. Just makes me wonder exactly how many people who go on and on about how they gave up the nasties are actually still addicted to nicotine and just have their fix another way.

Me I would rather be open and use my e-cig and say yes I am addicted to nicotine, and hopefully one day will be free of that, but one step at a time.
